Having had a bit of a overdose of online quizzes, thought we'd do something different last night and play poker while virtually socializing. We used an app called Pokerface, which I wasn't a huge fan of for a few reasons:
a) It seemed to only work on phones, I'd much rather use a laptop.
b) It seemed to force you to use Facebook, which not all my friends use
c) You earn chips via random free spins every X hours. This had a consequence that people all started with different chip counts, and...
d) It was a bit temperamental, every time people reconnected it would re-buy the max chips, sometimes people the video wouldn't work upon re-connection.

On the plus side it was free (they use the freemium model, charging you real ££ if you aren't happy waiting for the free chip spins) and it also included video chat.

Are there any other (ideally free) alternatives out there? I would be quite happy to use another application for video chat (e.g. Zoom) and run in split screen.

I would point out that none of are very good or that serious about it, hence preferring something that was free, or at the least very cheap. Just really looking for an activity that can be done online together while we socialise.

Me & my mates have been playing an app called pokerrrr 2.
We’ve been playing for around 3 weeks now 3 times a week. You can have up to 9 players at once & is really easy to use.
You can create a club for you all & set up each game differently for things like small/big blinds, time limits, starting chip amount etc.

Why not sign up with one of the big poker sites and play for real money ? Most of them have 1c/2c games with pot limits so you can limit your spend each evening.

My mate plays a lot and recommended this app, I trust his judgement.
