I nearly forgot. Road signs with the distance to Croydon on it.

I mean, who the feck in their right mind would want to go to Croydon, let alone want to know how far it was?

A 23 Signs , BIGsigns that tell you unmarked police cars operate in the area....

I hear they are going to put more BIG signs up soon stating that bears may deficate in the nearby woods and that the Pope could be .... well you get my point

Isn't this road appearing on a new TV programme called Sign Idol where one sign is voted off each week until there is a serious accident ?

Ok, not technically a road sign, but any car with a "baby on board" sticker/sign.

Generally a license to drive like an arse! Why do I care if you have a baby (or small person) on board, I'd generally not try and hit you even if you weren't carrying kids!

I have a big issue with those signs - why tell people that there are unmarked coppers around? Surely they should be obeying the road rules nevertheless??

Too friggin english for my liking..."excuse me sir, I am waiting around the next corner so please ensure you're travelling at the correct speed" :nono:

I'm with you on that. The reason was due to the tragic accident that killed several people near Brighton a couple of years back. Why did they not just put up 20 or 30 speed cameras?

The answer; Speed cameras would make people slow down, and therefore raise little or no money. Unmarked cars, can nick people all day long.

And the cost, well, you tell me, 2 cops, on what, £30K a year? Driving up and down the road all day, well it's got to cost at least £100K a year just for that. Well, you could put up a fair few speed cameras for that money, and stop people speeding, and perhaps prevent another terrible accident. Unmarked cars don't prevent accidents 24/7.

You won't be saying that when you've gone the wrong way over a 'pont wan' trying to find your 'maes parcio' in the 'canolfan dinesig'.

But the first probably isn't going to affect you unless you're driving a lorry and you'll be aided with the second by virtue of a big "P" on a blue background.

Agreed but my point was the that we have always had unmarked police cars, its part of the fun of driving spotting them and then knowingly overtaking then at 69 the next day as they dress like sales execs. I've been nicked by one of them. (Momentary lapse of concentration) although my wife pointed out I always drive like that when I've had a few.

Why put up great big F Off signs telling you that all of a sudden.

It is just to get people to slow down and drive carefuly in general. More often than not there won't be an unmarked car anywhere. I can see the logic in that.

But there have been unmarked cars forever, I wouldn't be surprised if the 2nd car ever on the road was an unmarked police car.

We haven't needed signs before, we just got caught, muttered and got on with it being aware that we wont do it again

The original idea was that it told the wankers on your tail, that if you had to break suddenly and they hit you they would probably have the death of a baby on their conscience and secondly , it should have also explained why you were driving carefully.

unfortunately it had the opposite effect

I hate 'Baby on Board' stickers and find them totally pointless, but even worse is the 'Grandchildren on Board', like it makes any difference?
