In the "Ban Dwayne" thread, Bozza states:

"Other factors, beyond the raw voting stastics, are who made those votes (ie long established users or relative newbies)"

I then asked him if that meant he can tell which way we vote in polls. He deleted my question and this has me a little nervous.

Is Big Brother able to tell how I voted in these polls (which I tended to think were secret)?

If so, you should tell us.

If not, what did you mean by the above statement? We aren't meant to post comments on that thread so you certainly can't base the decision on information gained that way.

Frankly, if I thought people could tell how I'd voted on some of those raunchier polls, I'd have lied more. It's 10", honestly. Wasn't me who went for 'Less than 3".'

NOTHING is anonymous, it's possible for every action to be logged. If he so desired Bozza could tell you what forums you've visited, what threads you've read, what your computer's OS is, the web site you came from, the one your going off to, what you typed into a search engine to get here, etc, etc. Recording poll votes is simply a very small part of it - what made you think it was anonymous anyway? Just because it doesn't say who voted for what option on the page?

Firstly - apologies for your question being deleted. It may well not have been me.

Short answer - yes - vBulletin records who makes what vote in each poll. But in order to read this, an admin would have to go into the admin section and 'ask'. And because NSC has so many votes cast in so many polls - it takes an age to retrieve the information. So, because of that, and the fact that I do not care - I rarely ever look.

This 'feature' has been known since we moved to vBulletin - I ran a poll stating the feature was available and asking if people wanted to be able to state their particular polls were 'non-anonymous' so that voting preferences could be revealed at the conclusion of a poll. Not sure how it turned out to be honest, but we've never had a poll where all voters and their votes have been revealed.

As Brovian says, both vBulletin and the underlying software records all sorts of things about users. Your voting in polls would probably be the thing you should worry least about, if you were looking for alterior motives. There are none, however.

Juan, I take it you didn't read the 'Would you be willing to pay a tenner for NSC?' thread then? In that Bozza named me as one of those that voted 'no'. Not that I voted 'no' and then posted 'yes', but you get my point.

Polls on NSC are NOT anonymous.
can you see who voted what on NSP then?
