Anyone else listening to The British History Podcast? (apologies for not scrolling back through 600 posts). I've just got up to the Romans leaving Britain, and about to enter the Dark Ages. Quite an undertaking by the fella doing it, he's 8 years into it now and the latest ones are still only up to the 11th century.

As when you listen to anything a lot, his US accent can grate (he's English by birth, but moved there when a small child) i do like the way he tells the stories of the people involved rather than just dryly listing dates/events etc.

Ooh this sounds right up my alley.

I quite like Americans doing British History; I though that 'Revolutions' was excellent

Just watch PBS. Some brilliant British History on there. I’m not sure which portion of the US TV audience likes public Service Broadcasting but those lads tell some cracking tales.

I did meet a woman on a train from NYC to New Jersey who bored me shitless for an hour racking on about PBS and her love for UK history she sees on there.

Then she started telling me about her ex husband, her wish to have children one day and asking me round to hers for dinner after the train let her off.

I declined. I don’t think I would have been allowed to leave if that lady had me in her gaff.

The Offensive. It's 'The Thick of It' set in a fictional Premier League football club. There's a Pascal Gross reference within the first minute and it's caused many funny looks from passers by as I burst out laughing in the street.

Great stuff. Hope you enjoy it. I'm up to the middle of the 7th century now (roughly pod 115ish). Fascinating stuff, and certainly kicks on brilliantly from the more documented Roman period. Every episode must take an age to research.

BBC Sounds: 13 Minutes to the Moon

Really enjoying this really well researched, presented podcast. Had no idea the average age of the mission control team was 27! They were kids. Incredible stories and reflections from those involved.

Against the Rules with Michael Lewis (author of Moneyball etc).

It's about how we in sport and life in general are undermining those who referee and the consequences it has. Fascinating stuff

I'm late to the party but 'My Dad Wrote a Porno' is brilliant.

Three comedians read out and comment on the erotic novel written by one of their fathers.
Not sure it has comedian on any of their passports. TV Writer/Director, Radio DJ and Writer/Producer would be more accurate.
