I'm really interested to see the effect on Mourinho of having a year off. I felt the guy was permanently tired at Man Utd, like he'd lost his mojo. If he's genuinely up for this job then Mourinho back in London in the thick of it could really spice up the Prem.

Managers like Guardiola would never take a job like Spurs because its a job that doesn't come with plenty of money and guaranteed success.You don't often get a 'top' manager going for a club who rarely win anything so whilst there are many top clubs who would no longer give Mou a job its brave of him to take this one.However if he actually managed to win the league it would probably be his greatest achievement.Reminds me of when Cappelo won the Serie A title with Roma who had not won it for years.

It needed fixing, but getting rid of a great manager doesn't seem like the sensible option to me.

The other way around with Jose though, he's the solution for a while and then he becomes the problem. Man United should have sacked him in the summer of last season, knowing that he'd grown bored and started dissolving the relationships with various players and club heirarchy. In his defence though, he was mainly pissed off about not getting Harry Maguire, which United have gone and done this season anyway so you could argue that it wasn't really his fault things went sour at United. But it does show what happens when he doesn't get his own way.

Spuds and Cameroon FB Assou-Ekotte was another. In Crouch’s recent auto-bio, he said he’d turn up for training and matches with his own snacks in a Tesco’s bag, he didn’t socialise and didn’t enjoy his vocation. But he had a decent career at the highest level.
