I suppose there is no chance he's going to resign? Useless ****.
If he does, Raab would take probably take over.

They were hoping to avoid a national lockdown altogether because of moneyAnything this govt does is wrong if you're anti Tory. But having said that I do hope to hear a good reason why we waited so long, the timing seems quite poor this time around

Corrected for you
Just shut pubs and restaurants ffs, furlough those staff and support that those businesses.
I wish I could say you couldn't make it up, but I have no idea what he will actually say. Complete lockdown, but not for another few days (how many and why?). We couldn't take Sage advice 3 weeks ago because we thought we'd take a gamble, then couldn't back down because it would look like we were doing what Starmer wanted. Now the situation has totally changed (as, er Sage, predicted) we will now go into total lockdown, but I must emphasize it will be a different total lockdown to the one the opportunist Starmer, advocated.

Better get some bog rolls this afternoon.
the Sage advice is heavily bias to medical only opinion, while government have to weigh up a few others. Sage advise back formed in September was full lockdown, excluding education (largest single source of cases at time), when most the country had low levels - would you honestly have followed that if you had to look at wider impacts? at the time we had councils with high rates objecting to some greater restrictions, to save the pubs. if people actually followed the simple guidance (also from Sage) then we might not be here - its spreading in the community. one month on, things have changed, the weight of information and outcomes change.
dont think it will be full lockdown like spring. it'll be national tier 3 ish, or some other contrivance, because they need to avoid lockdown for both the economy and politics. i think they are following France and others, we may not need a stricter lockdown now but they are gambling on acting rather give it another week or two and see how stats are. or they have seen something nasty in source data this week.
William and Kate are expecting a new baby and he wants to share the news to the nation.
Rejoice! Rejoice!

Obviously they can’t sober up Johnson as quickly as they thought.
They reckon about 2% of cases are linked to hospitality so probably wouldn't help a great deal.
