His arms were way over his head when he handled.

When you're pushed you tend to put your arms forward to save yourself as you're falling.

Sure, he made mistakes leading up to the incident, but he was still pushed into the ball, hence a clear foul before any handball took place.

But what was wrong with Butters goal that would of given us the lead. OK from where we were could not see anything wrong with it. Could have been a different game if that had counted.

Initially it looked as though he had given it for offside - his hand gesticulations seemed to indicate that. However, that would have been impossible given the position from where the kick was taken.

But the official explanation from the ref post match was that the linesman had signalled the ball had gone out of play from Chippy's free-kick.

Chippy thought that was nonsense as he didn't curl it but instead drove it.

Would need to see it on a video replay to be certain however

we were rubbish yesterday, although the fans kept singing, the polayers didnt deserve our applause at the end of the game. but we are that great a set of fans we still gave them a good send off, off the pitch.

it was such a bad game, that the highlight was an inflatable donkey and polo's for £1.80

hinsh should have got sent off for the penalty, as he should of for the one that wasnt given last week at stoke.

i honestly believed the freekick which they scored from shouldnt have been given. i honestly thought it was a back pass and he didnt even pick it up, but tv will change my mind, if i actually bother to that performance again?

the last goal was a joke, one player on his own in our half, with the freedom of the pitch. reid did AMAZING to get back, and stop him but still they managed to get a goal still

it was humiliating hearing the plymouth fans singing easy easy easy easy easy, but to be honest we were that rubbish we deserved.

chippy should have been sent off and can have no complaints.

although the officials were poor, we deserved nothing and came 3rd in a 2 horse race

Terrible first half defending, a ref that was'nt good enough to do a park game, and now I've got to go to work tomorrow and suffer the flak. Not a happy bunny

Mendoza, I think you're spot on. We were not even second best yesterday, and once again, as against P*****, even a pub team could have beaten us. The whole defence had a mare, apart from Reid, though the midfield were not much better. That must have been Hinsh's worst game and Butts was nowhere for their fourth goal. For a senior pro like Carpenter to get sent off was utterly daft. Talking to some blokes on the train, they said Leon went straight down the tunnel without even looking at us. Leon, this is not good enough. Ticket and train cost me £72, so I don't know how much it cost those who took families. We expect better from you. Highlights of the day were meeting Curious Orange, Gully and Yorkie (again), plus wonderful scenery (from Westbury to Exeter, and then along past Starcross, Dawlish and Teignmouth has to be one of the finest train rides in the country). Also, meeting a Home Office colleague and fellow Albion fan on the train. Lowlights, no local brews in the pubs I went in, the whole game, and the Blackheath Rugby squad blocking the way to the buffet. The drunken attempts by some London-based Argyle fans to sing GOSBTS were quite amusing, though.

From what I watched of the game yesterday (up until 4-1), as well as the officials, the team selection seemed to cost us. Mayo was brought back in which is fine as he is generally better than Harding defensively, but then rather than dropping Harding he is moved into midfield and looked lost. Also bringing Oatway back in managed to unbalance the team as Nicolas ended up on the right of midfield which is not his natural position and he then spent too much time cutting inside, leaving Reid exposed. Now generally McGhee gets it correct, but there are times such as yesterday where we play people out of position to fit a formation, rather than using a formation to complement the players available to us. The way we were shipping goals yesteray, it seems to me that 5-3-2 would be the best way forward with either Virgo or El-Abd replacing Carpenter (I await a long winded response from my favourite critic telling me why I wrong, but that is my view on it).

Also the bad thing about losing a game within the first 40 minutes meant I did not get my usual amount of sobering up time....

I think 3-5-2 just suits us so much better - Nicolas and Harding just looked out of position on the flanks, and were wasted. When you've got no-one to aim for up-front, you need to out-number them in midfield, and 3-5-2 enables you to do that. I don't think it's any coincidence that playing that system vaguely consistently seemed to give us our best run of the season in January - I would like to see McGhee return to it asap.
