Yes, of course, Blackpool is a different story all together. My bad.

But the point is right. It would be interesting if you offered football fans the options of being like Portsmouth (so a few years in the Prem due to overspending and then bust after that) whether they'd take it compared to our current situation. Most would say the current situation but, judging by comments on threads like this, you do wonder though.

Not bad for a team who cheated to get there in the 1st place. Sadly playing by the rules will end in failure as the riches on offer are to great

Good luck to them, they are swimming in cash and going to spend it on staying in the Premier and continue swimming in n cash.
We would do the same. It is going to be a great relegation battle this season in the Premier I can see eight or ten clubs battling to avoid the bottom three places.

Does a club need to be able to be self sufficient in the Premier League anymore? It doesn't matter if 3 men and a dog turn up to watch, gate receipts count for nothing, being handed over £100,000,000 per season will help cover growing wages and fees.

Exactly this. Any club now who reaches the Premier League, are guaranteed absolute riches. The Premier League really is the promised land.

I hope the old saying "Cheats never prosper" will eventually turn out true for Bournemouth.

Unlike many football fans, I was never taken in by the Bournemouth "fairytale success story" and their amazing transformation from League 2 paupers to a club giving Premier League giants bloody noses....but I WAS surprised at how easily the national media fell for all AFC Bournemouth's "flannel" without properly investigating how on earth it was possible - it should have been obvious that it was only possible because of "bending or breaking" FFP rules as was subsequently revealed (paltry £7 million fine and knuckles wrapped)........they should be starting this season with a 10-point deduction or even worse (a la Swindon when they were demoted because of financial irregularities).

It was even more galling that we were expected to believe Mr Smug Eddie Howe's weasel-like protestations that everything was achieved above board and on merit plus the fans telling us "we will pass FFP rules because we are due a big chunk of money from the Lallana sell-on fee".

Having watched Howe closely at Burnley, I can say he was no managerial genius and was taking us towards League One when Sean Dyche came to the rescue in October 2012 .....I'd love Dyche to come out on top again against Howe this season in the managerial stakes but the odds are against it because of billionaire "sugardaddy" Max Demin.

Good to mainly agree with a Burnley fan although I think Howe is a good manager. Bmuff started to fall apart when he went to Burnley.

That Real Madrid friendly where the owners paid all the costs (from memory) and then they charged an obscene amount to get in was a disgrace too. Although, to be fair, they are not the only ones. I think financial fair play should be scrapped. There's nothing fair about it given the disparity in income, especially in the Championship with some clubs on parachute payments. To be honest, if someone rich wants to bankroll a small team to a much higher league, why shouldn't they. It's preferable to the richer teams always getting an advantage.

Ignoring the Barton stuff last year, I hope you do better than Boro this season (who have thrown money at new signings). I'd much rather try to sign the best players from the Championship than players like Negredo and Valdes who would leave straight away if you get relegated.

True I'm afraid. I don't like Mr Smug Perfect either, but he got Bournemouth to the promised land, so that's all that counts really.

I will love it when the Bournemouth balloon BURSTS and SMUG Eddie is found out, anyone can be a good coach when they are buying players for huge amounts of cash. I bet the Russian would SCARPER with as much cash as he could the moment they go down.

If they were really interested in a sustainable club they would have spent their money on infrastructure rather than spunking it away on wages and agents fees.

Smug Arry got away with it for years. Eddie has a long career yet

Similar to the Blackpool owner. He's just banked the money and let the club free fall.
