Please VOTE for my charity to win an award for orangutan conservation!

Hi all,

Some of you know me, most don't, but for the last 18 years in-between supporting Brighton I've been working as a conservation biologist in the Borneo rainforest. As the title says, my charity - the Orangutan Tropical Peatland Trust - has been shortlisted to win an award of £20,000 from the European Outdoor Conservation Association. If we win, we will fund community patrols to stop illegal logging and fight forest-fires, replant natural rainforest and monitor orangutan health and survival in the Sabangau peat-swamp forest. This will make a real difference to my project and to the protection of one of the most important areas of rainforest left in Borneo.

In the past on NSC I've voted variously for people to win comedy awards, to get sent into space or be the new Scunny honey, so this is now my attempt to come cap in hand and win your backing! Yes, very true about the other projects. All have already been shortlisted from 40+ applicants, but as well as the winner at least two more will be supported by the EOCA board.
