This happens in the IPL as well. I like this idea, it gives a big advantage to the teams finishing higher but also allows for exciting one off games. The disadvantage for the 7th plays 6th plays 5th and so on..idea means the 7th place team would have to play loads of games after a long season. not that any of this matters because it's my 1000th post! I'm no longer a newbie, it's only taken me over 3 years...

I had a similar idea to this but I'd like to cut out the Wembley play-off final completely. 3rd plays 6th at 3rd's ground, 4th plays 5th at 4th's ground and then the winners play one more game at whoever finished higher in the league's ground.

You should NOT get a trophy and a day out at Wembley for finishing 6th and winning a couple of games.

Plus, with only two more games to play we can wrap up the season before the FA cup final which has traditionally always been the last day of the season.

Or better still, do away with the play-offs, and automatically promote the 3rd place team, like it used to be done. And ought to be.
