Now, second life has been introduced to me by a client who actually wants me to visit her in her second life office....odd.

I have taken the time to become part of this and am intrigued and fascinated.

You wander around and literally talk to people and do business with people.

I went to a seminar recently (in real life) and have been informed that not only had someone in the US become a real life millionaire through his business on Second Life...(1usd = 100 Linden dollars), but we are about to see the first lawsuit where by a brand owner is suing someone for trademark infringement...on Second Life!!!!!! Real money is changing hands, ie Linden dollars using a brand name which has not been authorised by the brand owner = infringing trademark rights..

I have also been looking and you can get a team together and play a game of football, or go training....this is new to me anyone else been on Second Life?

I never know whether the Second Life thing is genuine interest or all hype by its owners.

Out of curiosity I tried it for about an hour and was bored shitless.

Yeh, just milling around walking into things having a quick fly, cos you can, and asking birds how they are ..

its mostly hype from those that spend a great deal of time on it. the media and web luvvies wax lyrical about it but theres an incredibaly high turnover of accounts. like you, most people try it and dont bother. probably a matter of a few thousand active accounts world wide. i personally found the control interface appalling, just couldnt get the hang of movment, but that because its geared towards design/creation in a 3d world than movement (it feels like a CAD package). dont think football will work at all well.

Coming from someone with a bit of experience in online words, Second Life and There are both appauling from a graphical and user interface point of view. Very ugly and clunky, and actually offering very little personalisation that you'd expect from such a game.

I think that the next generation will be something very different, but both of these games are just too awkward to really spend any more than 5 minutes on.

I just started playing this game. But the third time I tried to login it says you cannot login to SecondLife on this computer. Anyone know the problem? Really frustrating.

I thought it was utterly terrible when I had a go. The intro was mildy diverting, but once in the world 'proper' utter wank. Nothing going on, and completely clunky and un-intuitive.
