There have been quite a few Albion players who I thought were a lot better than the manager did.
However, when they left the club few of them have gone on to impress. Which probably confirms why I am not a football manager!
Examples:
Steve Melton: I was always impressed by his potential. He never really got a sustained run-out in the team. Went on to play for who was it, Boston? But certainly never made it to the big time.
Albert Jarrett: Great speed. Probably lacked an end product. Really thought we should have persevered with him. Went on to a couple of league clubs, but faded from sight. Guess I was wrong about him too!
Nathan Elder: Liked his style of play as a striker. Thought he could have developed into a real goal-scorer. Played for Brentford for a couple of seasons. Now with Jake at Shrewsbury, but doesn't seem to be in the starting line-up regularly.
Anyone have any other examples?
