Ok we all know about Kanchelskis but what other players have you heard of that decided not to come here?

Paul Jewell is about the only one I can think of off the top of my head. There must be loads of others that took one look at the place and said "no thanks". Seem to remember some Oxford/Swindon player who was very highly rated who came to watch a game at the Goldstone and walked out before the end after telling Mullery (I think) that he wasn't interested in playing for such a crap team :) Buggered if I can think of his name though.

There must have been a few recently bearing in mind MM has reportedly chased 42 strikers and none of them came to the club (for various reasons) before GNW

Difference is we probably turned most of them down when we heard how much money they wanted :)

Paul enjoyed his loan spell here but was reluctant to move down south! Still is, hence George Burley is manager at Southampton!

Ray Houghton, early in his career was another one rumored to have slipped through the net as well I think.

Nope it was a very young and very highly rated midfielder who never fulfilled his potential. Something vaguely like Beaumont or some French sounding surname. Bloody annoying me now

Francis Jeffers, didn't Pinamonte turn us down after his loan spell and go to Brentford and we got stuck with someone called Zamora
