558 games ALL in the premier League
58 goals
England captain, over 50 caps for England, 3 international goals, the thousandth player to play for england, scorer of the 2,000th England goals, played in the World Cup Finals for England, played in the FA Cup Final
Brian Dear
Steve Sidwell
Paul Dickov
Isn't there a kid that was playing for Burgess Hill last season, that is now playing for Fenerbache or something stupid like that
To be fair , altho Wright scored a hat trick in his trial game for us , it was a straight choice between him and Steve Penney. Apparently we couldn't afford both so sent Wriight back to s. london and took Steve Penney who three years later was playing international football at the World Cup Finals in Mexico. So an understandable decision at the time.
and my understanding of keane is that at the time we knew about him but he never wanted to come to us as he knew by that time that bigger clubs than us were looking at him
It doesn't follow that if we had signed someone like Wright that we would of ended up with the Ian Wright that was so prolific at Arsenal, or with Keane that we would of ended up with the Man Utd version.
Too many variants in a players progression.
Less a club miss more an NSC miss as Im not sure if the club looked at him at all but....
About four years ago there was a poster on here who kept going on about a Saints teenager who wanted to come to Brighton and we had to buy him as he was going to be huge etc etc. The poster was roundly vilified and it was even suggested that it was the player himself who was angling for the move.
Adam Lallana anyone?
