Henderson 6 ... Some of his kicking questionable.

Whing 7 ... has played better.

Hinshelwood 7 ... Good game. Has strengthened the defence. Wonder if he's really tall enough for a central defender.

Butters 8 ... great to have him back. Excellent game.

Mayo 7 ... did very little wrong except for losing his man a couple of times in the first half. Best game for a while.

Fraser 6 ... played fairly well.

Hammond 7 ... played well.

ElAbd 6 ... OK in a central midfield role.

Cox 7 ... good game, but not his best.

Robinson 8 ... great game.

Gatting 3 ... very poor. Slow. lack of effort.

Henderson 7 Fine second half saves

Whing 7.5 Along with Cox our classiest player at the mo, hope we can keep hold of him

Hinshelwood 8 Very accomplished

Butters 8 vintage stuff

Mayo 7 Showing his worth, another good display

Fraser 5 Not a right-winger but at least his head didn't drop

Hammond 6 Dogged and determined

El Abd 5.5 Not really that comfortable but did his best

Cox 6 First average game by his standards for our pocket playmaker

Robinson 7 Nice finish and worked the Cobblers defence well

Gatting 5 Better than midweek, at least won a few headers this time, but still unconvincing

Lynch 6 Competent
Rents & Santos Little time

Henderson 6 ... Couple of dodgy distributions early on due to hime trying to restart play too quickly.

Whing 7 ... Got down the line well, solid.
Butter 7 ... Defended well
Hinshelwood 7 ... Defended well
Mayo 7 ... Played well

Fraser 6 ... Solid though gave away possession too easily some times.
Hammond 6 ... Dod okay, thought we lost a little momentum going forward when he got injured.
El Abd 6 ... Not great distribution wise, but breaks up play and gives the defence the extra cover it needs.
Cox 6 ... Marked out the game, fine volley that led to the goal.

Robinson 7.5 ... Instinctive strikers goal and showed some good touches up front.
Gatting 5 ... Limited, tryhing to play a target mans role against experienced central defenders. Worked hard.

Subs
Lynch 6
Rents 5
Santos not enough time.

Came away feeling far more positive about the team than the beginning of the match when I thought our inexperience may cost us against a team who have yet to lose an away match. Still need reinforcements hopefully with a little experience to help guide the young players.

Henderson - 6 One good save, generally sound but failed to hold one ball, kicked too many into touch.

Whing - 7 Solid.
Butters - 7 Solid
Hinsh - 7 Solid
Mayo - 7 Solid, almost scored a genius goal. :lolol:

Fraser - 5 Out of position but gave the ball away needlessly.
Hammond - 6 Decent, better than having two full backs in midfield.
El-Abd - 4 Please don't play him in midfield again.
Cox - 7 Average

Robinson - 7.5 Chased everything, striker's goal, most dangerous player on the pitch.
Gatting - 5 Won a few flick ons, not much else. Very one paced.

Everyone switched off the goal, very poor.

I never understand these 'ratings'.

What are we comparing them to ?

If it's proper footballers (i.e. premier league) then nobody would get more than 1 or 2.

If it is comparative within the team, the someone should get 1 and someone 10.

If it is comparing them to some 'league one' standard, then we should be getting mostly 4's and 5's at present.

Or is it a reflection purely on effort or expectation ??

No-one expects to compare our players with Chelsea's or Barcelona's squads, but based on general output, performance and effectiveness, I think today the players were good in themselves, and good for the team as a whole.

Dean Wilkins; 8, only fault - he should have slapped Gormless Gorman

I try it on how I think they play out of 10 based on what I am expecting.

I know they are all youngsters( to a point) therefore my expectations are very low.

which therefore gives them an average of 5 ( played to expectation) 4 below, 6 above.

That sort of thing

Why not? Based on the last two scales you mentioned, 4's and 5's would mean they didn't play particularly well at all, so most people saw above average scores.
Enough questions.

Compared to 'league one' standard I think we have been distinctly below average this season - particularly the last 3 home league games.
