I think a number of you are underestimating the importance of CMS's running off the ball. It opens defences and gives us opportunities. Stocky was very good today and has become (after time) a worthy replacement for PIG. March was good and Calde doesn't deserve the criticism he seems to be getting. I am sorry to say this but JFC was sub standard for me again today. MOTM has to be Ince, he was superb in the first half, flagged a bit in the second but still scored the vital goal. Sami, what were you thinking of?

Good points made.

A few times Charlton defenders kicked the ball out for a throw because CMS was straight on them.

Very impressed with Ince today.

I don't like to criticise Albion players but how did JFC not manage to score? absolute sitter missed by him today, I didn't
think he had a good game.

Stockdale 8. Some very good saves and decent distribution.
Calderon 6. A little shaky defensively at times, but did well with his forward runs.
Dunk 8. Accomplished.
Greer 7. A few misplaced passes loses him a point.
Bennett 7. Good to have him back. Not as good as Ward or Bridge defensively, but great support in attack.
Holla 7. Good steady game. Getting better by the game. Cannot understand Hyypia's reluctance to play him.
Ince 8. MOM. Brilliant first half; great goal. A couple of misplaced passes before he was subbed, but Bruno as replacement was a liability.
JFC 6. A better game. Should have scored. Some poor distribution.
March 8. Played very well. Looks like his sharpness and fitness are returning quickly. Great free kick for the goal.
Baldock 6. OK, but he's a striker, not a winger. Why not play Colunga in that position? Should have scored in the 2nd half, but delayed his shot.
CMS 7. Better ball control and hold-up play than of late, but would prefer to see COG in that position from kick-off.

Subs:
COG 8. Shows what a striker should be doing. Won about everything that came his way. Should be starting.
Bruno 4. A liability.

Manager 8. Only criticisms are: 1) Should be starting COG, 2) when he did finally bring on COG it should have been Baldock who came off with CMS (who had plenty of running left in him) moving to the wing.

Considering we have no new signings, our run of three successive wins without conceding a goal, and five games unbeaten shows what the present squad is capable of if played in a sytem that works, and with some decent motivation.

Generally agree. Though Caldy was struggling at times today, much better going forward than defensively. March also, looks great on the ball but at times needs to release it earlier. CMS as per others comments above, runs down blind alleys for me and does not retain possession.

Delighted Stockdale is playing well.

How many chances did CMS running create yesterday? We looked absolute shite in the last third of the pitch whilst he was on the pitch. He gets knocked off the ball very easily, has no ball control and doesn't even get into goal scoring positions. Time to bite the bullet and drop him. COG was 100% improvement and doesn't get bullied off the ball, he can also hold the ball up and control it. I will be shocked and very disappointed if CMS starts in front of him next weekend.

CMS and Baldock cannot stay as our front two or we will continue to struggle. Both League One strikers for me. That was not a comfortable win at all and we hardly worked their keeper, Stockdale was the busier keeper. One great chance from JFC, a fumble by the keeper and the goal. That was it as far as being a threat was concerned wasn't it?

Bruno was weak when he come on and I too can only hope he replaced Ince for a problem with Ince and not tactical. Up to that point Ince was controlling the midfield.

Furthermore he did take one for team but not due to Bennett being out of position it was Bruno who caused the ball to be lost.

He did, when Ince got to the dugout he was holding back of left thigh so looked like a hamstring tweak

I agree JFC had a poor game today since the team was set up for him to support CMS but as that was not happening CMS had to feed on the long balls which we all know he can't handle.
We have a player that can do that job and his name is Colunga but he does not play for England under 21's so what does that indicate?

Ive been saying it for ages... we cannot rely on two ageing RBs. We need someone new there and I hope Chris brings someone now or in the summer because we cant start next season with just Calde and Bruno.
