Is it jus me or is a certain Mr. Murray fast becoming the complete striker? Goals, assists, awesome in the air, strong, powerful and generally well up for it.

He is awesome.

Totally agree. When I saw him season before last, when he was in his 'early homesick' phase, I saw glimses of a top quality striker. Big, pacey, eye for a pass and a good degree of control/skill. With Gus's coaching and motivation he is now fast achieving the status of 'Class Striker'. He could still bag 20 this season and if Healey arrives this week then I think his goals to games ratio will only increase.

Great performance all round but I would like to single out Marcos Painter, absolutely sublime player, hardly ever, if ever puts a foot wrong and deserves just as much praise as anyone in our team.

Charlton away day glory - Brighton player ratings

It appears nobody has posted a ratings thread for yesterdays epic triumph at the Valley so I thought I would start one:

Ankergren - 8
Solid distribution with hands and feet. A couple of decent saves as well.

Calderon - 9
Back to the inigo we know and love from last season. Defensively solid and bombed forward regularly to effectively support our attacks. Vamos!!

Painter - 8
Excellent defensively, nearly scored 9 but was not as effective going forward as Calderon.

Greer - 8
Bearing in mind the lack of 1st team football he has played this season an excellent performance. Defensively solid combined with some excellent distribution from the back

El-Abd - 9
A collusus at the back. The timing of some of his tackles was Moore-esque.

Bennett - 9
Superb engine and passing ability alongside his excellent dead ball delivery. The boys a bit special.

Kishishev - 8
Rolled back the years to show the charlton faithful that he still very much is a midfield enforcer. Tireless work ethic.

Dicker - 9
A real class act on the centre of midfield. Great passing range and gets the dirty work done as well

Sparrow - 9
For me his best performance so far in a Brighton shirt. Recent quiet performances were banished from the mind as he turned in a powerhouse performance. Showed real championship quality.

Murray - 8
Worked his socks off leading the line. Showed some really classy touches and finished for the 2nd goal with a touch of arrogance.

Barnes - 6
The one disappointment for me. Worked hard but got dispossessed far too easily on a number of occasions.

Poyet - 10
The man is a tactical genius. Completely out thought parkinson. The introduction of lua lua was perfectly timed.

He is awsome.

I don't think I have seen you play, so can't comment, but I agree with you about Murray. It does look as though he has done some serious work in the gym and looks much more like an athlete. A brilliant display from him. My MOM.

Difficult to pick out a man of the match but Kish delighted me. And I like Greer's style of play. He took a little while to get going but when he did he made it look so effortless. I have always been a fan of defenders who excel but do not appear to break sweat. I think Greer will be one of them.

My one defining moment yesterday was seeing calderon flying into the box when the ball was on the opposite flank in the 85th minute!!

Ankergren - 7 (because didnt have much to do but what did done it well)
Calderon - 9 (to me MOM - solid and looked dangerous going forward, this is more like the Calderon we new from the end of last season.)
Greer - 8 (Very solid after a dodgy 1st 15 mins, but i can see why we signed him i think going to be a real asset to us.)
El-Abd - 8 (Typical El Abd performance, one of our most consistent players)
Painter - 8 (very good as usual, doesnt mis control the ball at all and has a good touch and a solid defender to go with it)
Bennett - 8 (Different role for him but played it to perfection - great performance and looking more and more dangerous in final 3rd)
Dicker - 9 (I think Dicker nearly got man of the match with Calderon - didnt put a foot wrong all day)
Sparrow - 8 (Great signing and showed even 3-0 up he got into a goal scoring position i think we got 10-15 goal midfielder in Sparrow)
Kishishev - 8 (Typicial Kish was awesome, surprised he finished the game but been a very good bit of business getting kish onboard really suits our style of play)
Murray - 8 (i would have given a 9 apart from that mis control when through on goal, but seems to really want to play for the Albion now, works hard and showed how much meant to him when scored) Sign him up a long term deal asap.
Barnes - 7 (Didnt put a foot wrong and worked hard and controlled the ball well but compared to all the other players had least effective game but still played well, im still delighted we got Barnes as i think a real team member)

Subs -

Lua Lua - 8 (only because was on for a short period of time, but gee didnt he cause them problems, really starting to get a end product just be such a shame if we lose him in Jan as i think he seems to love it here and would improve having a whole season of football i think he would get 15 + goals for us as well

Fans 10 - we was awesome vocally and totally outsung Charlton and sung as a group and made for a great day, i nearly moved to a 9 due to the fight at end, a bit embarassing that we fight with own fans.

Can't be arsed with the ratings, but what I would say, reading through this thread is that we can't decide between us who was Man of the Match - which in today's context is a brilliant thing.

For me, it was between Dicker and El-Abd.

El-Abd was so good, even their fans on other messageboards noticed.
