Very good performance.

Can't find a thread for ratings so..... (6 being average)

Casper 7 - Slight slip in the first half but other than that played well

Calderon - 7 - Made some timely interceptions as always, wasn't as productive going forward but did well.
Painter - 8 - Solid performance defensively
El-Abd - 8 - As above. Harshly booked in my opinion
Elphick - 8 - Like a rock.

Bennett - 7 - Useful contribution, but not his best day.
Sparrow - 9 - What a debut!
Navarro - 8 - Broke up play well, anchored the midfield perfectly
Kish - 6 - Did ok, but ran out of steam
Smith - 6 - A little lightweight a times, but did ok.

Barnes - 7 - Not given much protection from a poor referee. Needs a goal.

Dicker - 7 - Just rarely gives the ball away
Hart - Not on long enough

Officials - 5 - very poor

Brighton Support - 9 - Loud and proud

Casper 7 Maybe could have done better on their goal, he pushed it back into a dangerous area.

Calderon 7 Played well can't remember any mistakes, still made a surging run forward at the end of the game.
Elphick 6.5 Alright but never fills me with confidence, his mistake almost led to a Casper red card.
El Abd 6.5 Same as above still looks prone to a f*** up.
Painter 8 Quality today dealt with their black forward very well especially as he was all over him most the time.

Bennett 7 Not his best game but looked threatening and had some good link up play.
Navarro 7 He did what you expect him to do, kept possession probably the best out of everyone today but the quick free kick straight to their forwards was almost disastrous.
Kishishev 5 Lost the ball to often, didn't link up to well with others.
Sparrow 8.5 Quality debut, never stops running always in the oppositions face, great first goal, not the best at heading though.
Smith 7 Looked out of his depth at times, almost as if he was trying too hard which is fair enough. Gets 7 as he got 2 assists I believe.
Barnes 6 Doesn't seem to be a lone striker, only really started to hold the ball up effectively in the last 15-20 mins.
Dicker 7 Oozes class, his ability to make challenges and keep possession is a breath of fresh air.
OGH Not on long enough to comment but made some good challenges.

Good performance, even better result.

Casper 6 - Good handling and kicking, but looked a little slow at coming off his line both for his yellow card, and also the Austin near miss at the end. It will be very interesting to see if Brezovan reclaims his place once fit.

Calderon - 7 -Solid enough up against a better opponent than he will get most weeks

Painter - 7 - Solid as above

El-Abd - 6 - Did well most of the time, and was stiched up for his booking by a poor pass, but was lucky not to sent of shirt pulling in the dying minutes IMO.

Elphick - 7 - Would have been a 8/9 but for his his reaction time in relation to Swindon's goal.

Bennett - 6 - Did OK. Worked hard but being payed on the left meant that he always had to cut back, which really make him a lot less dangerous. We need a left sided midfielder if only to get Bennet back on the right

Sparrow - 9 - Magnificent. Competitive in midfield, linked well with Barnes, never stopped running, and his 2 goals were very well taken. MOM

Navarro - 7 - Won tackles and kept midfield ticking over, Did well.

Kish - 7 - As above, but I am not sure if we will get 90 minutes from him very often!

Smith - 6 - Some nice touches, gets knocked of the ball litlle to easily sometimes, Did OK.

Barnes - 7 - Worked hard, and led the line well, as well as being involved in both goals. Only slight blemish was was that he was a touch slow to react for his chance in the second half. None the less he should keep his place in the side on that performance imo.

Subs:

Dicker - 7 - There will be healthy copetition places between him Navarro and Kishishev this year. Worked hard and kept possesion well.

Hart -6- In fainess had little time to do better or worse than OK, but a there was one trademark sliding tackle :)

All in all a pleasing day, we look very well organised, and will not conceed many goals with this formation. It will be intersting to see if Gus persits with it at home in games against lesser sides that wont attack as much...

Smith was pretty impressive. Was involved in both goals. Barnes did well up front. Impressive display all round

Wasn't it a one-two with Smith?

Could be, it was terrific movement. Danny Wilson felt it was off-side (BBC Wiltshire). He did also say the ref made the right decision in not sending off Casper (which incidentally WAS the right decision).

Ankergren 7 - A couple of dodgy moments but looked calm and had decent distribution

Calderon - 7 - Solid perfromace and had to hold the right side by himself for a lot of the second half
Painter - 8 - Superb in defence and did well in attack.
El-Abd - 9 - Best performance i've seen from him for a while. Won every tackle and header
Elphick - 7 - Did ok but looked responsible for thier goal

Bennett - 7 - Did a lot of running but lacked final ball
Sparrow - 8 - Took his goals beautifully and had some nice movement
Navarro - 7 - Did his job well with some nice short passes. Lucky not to give away a goal after a dodgy pass
Kishishiev - 6 - Didn't do much and looked tired
Smith - 6 - Didn't do much and looked lightweight

Barnes - 7 - Put in a shift up front without any support.

Dicker - 7 - Looked really good. Should start next game imo
Hart - 6- Made some good tackles towards the end

Ankergren 7 - not inspiring, but looked alright I suppose - would like to see their goal again
Calderon - 6 - looked useful going forward, but was beaten quite a few times by their winger
Elphick - 8 - immense in the air, but again, I'd like to see their goal again and see if it was him who passed it across the goal
El-abd - 8 - faultless. Going to be hard to drop him for Greer?
Painter - 8 - class, class act. So good defensively and composed too.
Bennett - 6 - quiet, but then he was on the left so you'd expect that
Navarro - 7 - had a storming first hour where he seemed to be at the heart of everything, went a bit quiet towards the end - lucky with one stray free kick!
Sparrow - 9 - brilliant. More performances like that and we've got a QUALITY player.
Smith - 7 - good running and decent link up for the second, although as others have said, looked like he needed to beef up a bit
Kishishev - 7 - added a bit more "solidness" to the midfield. Encouraging.
Barnes - 6 - can't fault him really, no service and with a lightning fast defender marking he did well all things considered - perhaps should have shot earlier when he had a chance in the second half.

Dicker - 7 - added a bit more variety to our passing I thought, good sub
Hart - again, totally agree with the decision to bring him on knowing how strong he can be defensively

Thought Calderon looked a bit out of sorts, bearing in mind his hip injury last season. Don't think we ought to get rid of Whing quite yet.

Casper 7 Maybe could have done better on their goal, he pushed it back into a dangerous area.would have struggled to do more than he did with Rose's free kick

Calderon 7 Played well can't remember any mistakes, still made a surging run forward at the end of the game.
Elphick 6.5 Alright but never fills me with confidence, his mistake almost led to a Casper red card.a couple of hoofed passes were possibly the only minus points in a strong performance
El Abd 6.5 Same as above still looks prone to a f*** up.not blessed with great skill but immense in the way he lead by example physically and vocally
Painter 8 Quality today dealt with their black forward very well especially as he was all over him most the time.they had several black players but presumably you are referring to Amankwaah

Bennett 7 Not his best game but looked threatening and had some good link up play.
Navarro 7 He did what you expect him to do, kept possession probably the best out of everyone today but the quick free kick straight to their forwards was almost disastrous.
Kishishev 5 Lost the ball to often, didn't link up to well with others.are you serious Broke up everything until he tired in the second half
Sparrow 8.5 Quality debut, never stops running always in the oppositions face, great first goal, not the best at heading though.
Smith 7 Looked out of his depth at times, almost as if he was trying too hard which is fair enough. Gets 7 as he got 2 assists I believe - seriously were you there? Yes he did make both goals
Barnes 6 Doesn't seem to be a lone striker, only really started to hold the ball up effectively in the last 15-20 mins.
Dicker 7 Oozes class, his ability to make challenges and keep possession is a breath of fresh air.not to put him down - he slotted in quickly and effectively and did all that was asked but he wasn't THAT good today
OGH Not on long enough to comment but made some good challenges.

either you weren't at the match or you have particular favourites and you have players you don't like and have rated them according to these views rather than actual performances. WW's assessment was much more balanced and reflective of the game I watched
