It's probably unfair to judge a player on just one game but the only time I have seen Elder for any length of time was when he started in the JPT, and anyone who saw him that night would not be calling for him to be in the first team. Every aspect of his game was dire, although he was big enough to admit in the after match interview.

He was getting into decent positions, but lacked the killer instinct. If anything it seemed to be that he was over zealous and snatching at things.

I think you are right that it is unfair to judge him on one game. He can head the ball and has some pace to unsettle to opposition, definitely worth a run out if you ask me.

Kuipers 7 - couple of really important saves when it mattered. Could do nothing about their goal which was superb.
Whing 6 - a bit sloppy at times.
Elphick 7 - seems to be improving with games again and nicely bullet header.
El Abd 7 - powerful performance.
Richards 7 - good to have him back. Not as good a second as first half but a real asset to us.
Martot 7 - passed well. Not a winger or creative player through. Ran out of steam 2nd half.
Thomson 7 - good distribution and worked hard. Will be a perfect replacement for O'Call.
Reid 6 - slight improvement but needs games to get back to what we know he is capable of.
Cox 7 - ran and worked hard put in several excellent crosses although let himself down with a couple of wasted corners.
Revell 6 - no real end product, outmuscled and outjumped but worked hard.
Forster 7 - quality and pace, deserved a goal.

No MOM as nobody particularly outstanding.

Subs: No time. Wilkins, it's no good giving players like Elder 5 minutes!!!!!

Kuipers - 6 did evrything that was needed, although I do still have a coronary every time he has the ball at his feet.

Whing - 6 Unusually iffy and gave the ball away too much

El Abd - 7 Solid, won most in the air and didn't have his usual momentary abortion.

Elphick - 7 Solid and a well taken goal

Richards - 7 Good to have him back. A left footed left-back with all the right attributes

Cox - 5 Disppointing. Everything looks so frantic when he has the ball. He has the ability but just needs to relax a bit more IMO

Reid - 8 Excellent. Barely misplaced a pass and tough in the tackle

Thomson- 7 Didn't really get into the game but I can't remember him misplacing a pass

Martot - 6 One of his better games. Looks a lot more of a threat when we keep the ball on the floor.

Revell 5- Teflon. Works hard though

Forster 6 - Missed his only clear cut chance but created a lot

Subs

Elder - notlong enough
Hart - 10 - wish he'd knocked that little **** Brandon out.

Wilkins 6 - right line-up, poor use of subs.
Ref 2 - DIABOLICAL. Can anyone tell me what the freekick for their goal was for?

Kuipers - 7 - Didn't really have much to do
Richards - 6 - Wasn't at his best but didn't do too badly
El-abd - 7 - Looked solid, put in some good challenges
Elphick - 7 - Same as El-abd, good header for goal
Whing - 6 - Got worse as match went on, didn't really look match fit
Cox - 5 - Needs more consistency, and also to stop having a go at other players when hes not at his best
Reid - 6 - Not great, not terrible. One thing I noticed was after he passed the ball into feet he just stood still - seems a pretty simple thing not to do really.
Thomson - 7.5 - Rarely gave the ball away, good distribution, good tackling
Martot - 7.5 - Wins lots of headers, good work rate
Revell - 5 - Fairly anonymous, a few poor touches, maybe one good flick on
Forster - 6 - Was a bit static upfront

Very poor first half, much improved second half, We have to stop this diamond formation, it doesn't sparkle.
Martot had a much improved performance, everyone else was average, Thompson looks like a great buy, some of his diagonal passes were sweet.

And finally, Please, please, Dean, give up the short corners, unless we are winning 4-0 with 5 mins left.

Can't be arsed to mark everyone aside from saying Martot was my MoM, Revell had an unusually poor game, and the howls of derision from my part of the South Stand when Reid was awarded MoM was hilarious.

Oh, and the ref was a twat - especially in the second half.
