Ryan - 7 - solid game. Hernandez doesn’t miss many one on ones
Montoya 6 - has a very good game but should have taken one for the team when Lanzini best him for the goal
Duffy - 6 - doesn’t look as comfortable as the other two in this system but very solid
Dunk - 7 - brilliant distribution at times. Nice nutmeg on the right wing. Thought he got lucky with a couple of heavy tackles late on
Burn - 8 - solid defensively and a marauding prescence going forward. Arguably should have scored in the first minute and denied a great assist by his own offside. Superb
March - 7 - look far more comfortable than last week. Him and Trosssard will be a handful for anyone
Stephens - 8 - calm on the ball and a real physical presence off it. The shackles are off
Propper - 7 - looks much better in this system. Should he have done better with that header?
Trossard - 9 - MOTM - looks an absolute gem of a player. Two great finishes. Shame he only had one goal to show for it. Enjoy him while we can. I can see him moving for BIG money in a year or two.
Murray - 6 - nothing much came off for him but played a part in the goal and it was notable how much we missed his physicality when he came off
Gross - 7 - great to have him fully fit. We suddenly have him, Mooy, Trossard and March to create chances

Maupay - 6 - movement good, finishing disappointing.
Andone - 6 - not much impact
Mooy - N/A

Ryan 6.5 felt he could have done better for the goal. He really is a modern goalkeeper and got things moving very quickly
Montoya 6.5 another good performance not quite up to last weeks efforts
Burn 7.5 fast becoming my favourite player, he is so enthusiastic and wanted to be part of everything. His pass for the disallowed goal was sublime but a few errors in defense could have been costly.
Dunk 7 maturing into a top top defender
Duffy 6.5 still adapting to new systems but solid as a rock
March 6.5 put in another good shift. He is a real grafter and never stops running
Stephens 7 excellent performance, much more attacking intent under GP
Proper 6.5 hard to call this, heavily congested midfield denied him the opportunity to shine but in the last half hour was much more prominent
Gross 6.5 such a cultured player but I think he is the one who’s place is most at risk
Trossard 8 could easily of had a hatrick on his debut. What a player he will be
Murray 6 brilliant set up for Trossard’s goal but not mobile enough for the system we will play, think his influence will come from the bench as the season progresses.
Maupay 6 three chances none taken but you can see that his positioning is top draw, will score a lot of goals
Andone 6 is a great disrupter and ensures that defenders never feel comfortable, will be used a lot from the bench.
Mooy 6 clever signing with PL experience

GP - really comes across very well with lots of CH qualities, level headed, organized, respectful but with more attacking intent. The transformation so far has been there for all to see. Looks like the players love playing for him

Referee - excellent

VAR - Boo! Until one goes our way. It kills the momentum of the game but I suppose we will adapt. I celebrated Trossard’s first goal with gusto and it felt like someone had taken my Christmas present back when it was ‘Varred’

Saved me typing. I might quibble over the odd score, but can't be arsed, and agree with your comments.

VAR - Boo! Until one goes our way.

I was thinking about this. We have not been good at playing opponents offside for some years now. Meanwhile, Glenn is second only to Elvis Manu in his offside count. I can't see offsides going our way very often at all.

six feet beneath the moon
Ryan- 6 could have done better with the goal and had one day awful but of play where he gave the ball away in the first half, but earns a point back for a good save in the 2nd

Duffy- 6 Mostly solid, couple of misplaced passes, gets a 6 because he allowed Chicharito to beat him to a header
Dunk- 7 classy display from the bug man, some wonderful passes and tackles. Solid.
Burn-9. Is there anything this man can't do? As if being a defensive colossus wasn't enough, to see him bombing up and down the wing too is just amazing. Absolutely flattened Fornals in the first half with a tackle and wasn't comprehensively beaten buy anyone.

Montoya- 6 took up some good positions and provided a useful option, but every cross seemed to hit the first man or go way over. He is also highly culpable for the goal, as he was brushed of the ball far too easily.
Propper- 7 made some really good driving runs from midfield and played some good passes. There was however, an absolutely inexcusable miss.
Stephens- 8. Solid, solid showing. Lots of good tackles, did what he does best. Even managed to get a few shots close to the target.
March-9 (my MOTM) absolutely superb. Looks like a player reborn in this new role. Didn't put a foot wrong all game and linked up really well with Burn and Trossard. All in all very promising form someone who may finally got his potential this season.

Trossard-8. The player Jahanbakhsh shoulbe been. Was a really nice link between midfield and attack, some lovely touches and showed very good shooting ability, both for his goal and the disallowed goal. Need to adjust to the fact that he won't have as much time to dwell on the ball in the Premier League, and could've had a hat trick with a couple of missed chances, but all in all a very very positive debut performance. He looks a good'un
Murray-6.5. Toiled very hard up front but with little reward, used his experience to provide challenges to the West Ham centre backs. Should have done better with the chance he did get, but a decent showing.
Groß-5. Really really poor. People have said he may be a casualty of the managerial change, and they may be right, as he offered absolutely nothing today. Slow, ponderous going forward and seemed very weak on the ball in what was an overall subdued performance. We know he has quality, but for one reason or another it wasn't on show today.

Subs:
Maupay 5- Full of running, but a bad day at the office when you consider the missed chances. That comes with the territory though, still really looking forward to seeing more of him and reckon he'll do very well for us. He should start Vs Saints imo.
Andone-6. Lots of running, won a very good corner off the West Ham defender, not much in the way of chances for him
Mooy- N/A

Potter: 7. Left the subs a little too late imo, but his system worked very well today against a different kind of team. Very promising indeed.

Overall- 7. Yes we could've won it, but if we play like that we won't have any problems this season and could be looking at midtable finish. Very good display.

Ref- 6. Should've sent off Masuaku, but didn't fall for their pathetic attempt at winning a penalty. Most 50/50 calls went the way of West Ham, but that's the norm for a side like us.

a galaxy far far away
Ryan - 7 - No bad with the ball at his feet. No blame attached for the goal

Montoya - 6 - He'll have lots of games like that this season, offers real attacking threat, though sometimes loose in possession. That cost us today
Duffy - 7 - He's growing into this new formation.
Dunk - 8 - Exceptional range of passing, was the furthest back defender for the goal, maybe needed to push up a few yards. Others will have noticed
Burn - 9 - Looks a genuine option at Left Wing Back! Love the way he berated himself for a late mistake after a brilliant performance.
March - 8 - This is his perfect role. He got a standing ovation for some defensive work, which was nice after he got a bit of stick last week

Stephens - 8- Quality player. Being allowed to show it
Propper - 8- Quality player. Being allowed to show it

Gross - 6 - Couple of nice moments, rightly subbed though
Trossard - 8 - Slow start, but what skill he displayed today. I'm going to guess .... June 2020. Tottenham. £55m
Murray - 6 - Typical Muzza performance. Was a handful for 60 minutes, which is as much as you'll get from him now.

Ryan 6 Didnt have much to do and to shine.,
Duffy 6 Competant game
Dunk 7.5 Best of the defence
Burn 7 Good game but not up to Dunk
Montoya 7.5 has really grown into this role
Propper 8.5 Best games for ages and obviouslky like ther freedom and the system
Stephen 9 Same as Propper but his tackling was better.
Gross 6.5 Good moments but not enough of them.
March 6 Disappoointed thought he was the weak link especially in the first half but improved in the 2nd.
Trossard 7 Started off very slow but grew into the game as it progressed and suire he will prove a good buy.
Murray 6.5 Plenty of effort but no success

Subs
Maupay 6 reasonable performance should have scored as easier than to miss.
Andone 6 Did ok but nothing special.

Pretty much agree with this. Probably one of the best Albion performances I can remember, just lacking that finishing touch which will come. Potter's style of play is great to watch and amazing to see how quickly the players have adapted to it.

I seem to be in a minority today, but thought Murray had a good game (no way near MoM, but decent). He was a handful all day, playing an integral role in Trossards goal, and laying back a good ball for Maupay's chance. Should have scored with his earlier chance though.

Fantastic football played today. Just needed better finishing. Stephens marked down a point by giving possession away a few times then passing the ball straight out of play so Burn gets MoM with his winger impression!
