Brezovan 2. Clown. Get rid. FDM back between the sticks.

Hoyte 3. He just does not impress. Whing or ElAbd at RB.

Elphick 5. OK.

ElAbd 7. Gave 100% as always. Again our best defender.

McNulty 5. Not playing well by his high standards.

Bennett 6. Played a bit better than of late.

Dicker 7. Good game, but far from his best.

Navarro 6. Did OK.

Cox 5. A few OK moments, but nothing special.

Forster 7. Has definitely lost a bit of pace, but a good game nevertheless.

Murray 9. Offside too often in the first half, but four goals must deserve a 9!

Subs:
Virgo 6. Put himself about. I was impressed.
Hart 5. Didn't do a whole lot.
Smith. Not on long enough.

Sure we won 5-2, but let's consider the opposition before we think we've turned the corner. Comical defending (again) for their first goal. Comical goalkeeping for their second. How many more goals are we going to hand the opposition on a plate?

Brezovan 3. Does not command the box, flapped at a few crosses when he tried to fist instead of catch, and as for the second goal, the worst piece of keeping in an Albion shirt........ever

Hoyte 4. Let the ball roll under his foot twice, out of position regularly

Elphick 4. Bad error for first goal, turned too often and had the turning circle of a traction engine

ElAbd 6. Wholehearted, not convinced he is a centre half

McNulty 6. Defended well but again too sloppy.

Bennett 6. Good cross for the second goal, keen to run at players when he had the ball but too anonymous when he didn't have it.

Dicker 7. Quiet first half, some good surging runs in the second

Navarro 6. Less anonymous than of late but needs to cover the back four or be creative, he seems to do neither.

Cox 6. Got stuck in, needs to stop diving though!

Forster 7. Took goal well, linked up well with Muzza.

Murray 10. Four goals away from home, helped make the fifth, only scores when the cameras are on him. Lucky at Wycombe they show the whole match live on a big screen though, perhaps we should do the same at Withers to turn around our home form?

Subs:
Virgo 6. One spectacular 50 yard run, unfortunately it was from the right hand of the pitch to the left, but he beat four players going sideways!
Hart 5. Seems to have lost a yard of pace from last season.
Smith. Not on long enough.

Overall the performance was little better than Exeter, and the defending was worse, but having a clinical finishing duo upfront made the difference.

We could have been 3 or 4 behind at half time, but it is 3 points, so rejoice.

Brezovan - 5 - The second goal was just one of those things, didn't have a huge amount to do otherwise and wasn't commanding. But I don't think he deserves some of the criticism on here.

Hoyte - 5 - Not a fan of his to be honest, poor positionally and gets done too easily.

Elphick - 6 - Did alright, but still gives away unnecessary free kicks in my opinion.

El-abd - 7 - Another very good game by his standards, only one dodgy pass or two that I can think of.

McNulty - 6 - Not a great game by his standards.

Bennett - 7 - Good game I thought, rarely wastes the pass and put some good balls in.

Dicker - 8 - Didn't really notice him in the first half, but bloody awesome in the second. When he got the ball, he ran at and got past defenders with ease.

Navarro - 7 - Good game by his standards, won some tackles for a change.

Cox - 7 - Good game as well, good assist for one of the goals.

Forster - 7 - Didn't really notice much that he did until he scored, good finish. But I wish he would stay onside more.

Murray - 9 - Would have been a 10 if against better opposition. Some great finishing from him, really hope he stays.

So far, nobody seems to agree with Gus Poyet that Dicker was "the best player on the pitch, by far, and when I say 'by far' I mean by miles. The next one, and with all respect to the 21 other players, was not even close".

To be fair, Gus said "On the ball, Gary Dicker was the best player on the pitch by far, and when I say by far, I mean by miles."
And on the ball Dicker was awesome, but the runs Murray was making in the second half and the positions he was taking up, warranted the higher mark in my opinion.

Brezovan - 5 - Obviously the second goal was a howler, otherwise played reasonably, kicking still poor.

Hoyte - 5 - Still looked shaky after a dreadful game against Orient. Hope he comes good but if not no big deal as you would expect a new right back in a short while.

Elphick - 6 - Typical Elphick nowadays really, bit too slow, some good headers out but not a great performance overall.

El-Abd - 7 - Worked hard and kept his position well generally. Don't like the lack of pace with him and Elphick together. Tunnicliffe back in perhaps, and stick El-Abd at right back?

McNulty - 6 - Showed occasional class on the ball but still looks below his best.

Bennett - 7 - Great shot near the end brought a superb block from Shearer. Worked hard and used his pace effectively. Neat touches.

Navarro - 6.5 - Used the ball quite wisely today, a better performance from him. Still lost the ball a few times in the middle of midfield.

Dicker - 8 - Average first half, completely OWNED the second half. Confidently strode through their midfield on a couple of occasions. He is our most consistent player, and showed that he is more important to our midfield balance than Crofts today. Superb on the ball.

Cox - 7 - Worked his arse off, and got involved in a couple of goals. Good all-round game.

Forster - 8 - Again a slightly quiet first half then a fantastic second half. His cross for one of Murray's was sublime, the technique he used while falling over was class.

Murray - 10 - 4 goals. There's little else to say. His touch at times made me want to weep with joy. Please do this every week Glenn. If he could be BOTHERED to be onside more he could've EASILY had 6 or 7 today. Ripped them apart and made it look very easy.

Subs

Virgo - 7 - Did his job well and had an exquisitely pointless crossfield run.
Hart - 6.5 - Did what he was brought on to do, give the opposition defenders an annoyance to deal with.
Smith - N/A - Not on long enough to make an impression.

Brezovan - 3 One shocking error lets him down, because tbf he's played well since being here

Hoyte - 4 hasnt got a great sense of positioning and seems to panic a lot when he's got time, I think Whing would be the better option atm

Elphick - 7 solid, won the majority of headers and seem to respond well to being given the captains armband

El-Abd - 7 Like Elphick was solid and is really improving as a player under Poyet

Mcnulty - 6 fairly convincing defensively but didn't get forward as much as I would have liked and became a bit anonymous as the game went on

Bennett - 7 Lively all afternoon and gets another assist, has the potential to be a top quality player for us in a year or 2

Navarro - 7 was solid, won tackles, headers and made passes, a very similar player to Wycombe's Doherty and Navarro showed him up today

Dicker - 9 He's really strong in the tackles and manages to keep hold of the ball when others would lose it, he almost always finds a creative pass and is so composed on the ball, very impressive today

Cox - 7 Far better than he has been in recent weeks, a cracking delivery for Murray's fourth and looked lively in possesion, just wish he'd play like this more often

Murray - 9 Would have been a 10 had he not been caught offside so often first half, every goal he scored was different and had a touch of class to it, he holds the ball up well, covers a lot of ground and has a real level of quality, people praise the likes of Lambert, Beckford and Holt but they are only individuals, as a partnership I honestly don't think theres a better one in this league than Forster and Murray, today is evidence of that

Forster - 8 too quiet first half but came to life in the second half, can still take people on and beat them and the finish for his goal was quality and as mentioned previously his link up work with Murray is first class

Brezovan 5 Made a momentous mistake but then so do Englands best keepers.
Hoyte 4 Gets caught too often would have taken him off in the first half and put El Abd at RB and Virgo in the centre.
El Abd 6 Solid performance
McNulty 6 Showed good signs of getting back to his best but am concerned that mentally he is not fit.
Bennett 7 Caused their defence immense porblems when he ran at them.
Dicker 8 Never stopped running with or without the ball
Navarro 6 Tried hard and made some good runs but not convincedf he is the answer to our midfield.
Cox 7 Best game for along time never stopped running and prodding their defence with through balls.
Forster 7 Good all round performance and made a mockery of peoples idea that he couldnt play 2 games in 3 days.
Murray 9 Excellent performance not only the 4 goals but his all round play unlucky to be be booked by an arsehole ref.

Subs:

Virgo 6 did the job that he was sent on to do.
Hart 4 Sorry his days must be numbered.
Smith Not on long enough did he touch the ball.

I agree with this.

Everyone will be wanking themselves silly tonight because we've scored five goals, but it's worth considering that Wycombe's defence was ABYSMAL, we were absolutely tragic for 45 minutes, we still defended like retards (Elphick, El Abd, Hoyte all need to do one quickly), Brezovan is beyond a joke, and we only won with such conviction because we had the only class player on the pitch.
Dicker or Murray?

I don't think he emphasized, on the ball, and on the end of miles better he said "as far as the distance from here (Wycome) to Brighton."
I don't think I have ever heard a Manager of any player in any division given such a commendation.

The three class players in our side, head and shoulders above the rest and helped to rescue us, when other members of the side were determined to hand the game to Wycombe.
The rest...I ain't gonna bother...some too poor to warrant a rating.
Today showed all Brighton fans what the problem is....we have some quality players and we have a lot of dross. We were able to pick off Wycombe cos' they were poor but we havent got the depth or quality to worry the better sides in this division.
