Sanchez 7 -- nothing to do, superb distribution, so calm
Veltman 8 -- bossed sock boy, gave him nothing
White 7 -- so assured
Dunk 8 -- what a run of form
Burn 8 -- ditto, the way he's turned things round since he got left to take on Traore is just stunning
Alzate 6 -- tidy, nothing more
Bissouma 8.5 -- Boss bissed it
Gross 7 -- couldn't quite kill em
Mac Allister 7 -- he's some player, and was so inventive but got too much on our best chance
Trossard 9 MotM -- outstanding, so creative, his technique was something else, and caused them constant problems
Maupay 7 -- ran 'em hard, held it up well

Lallana 7 -- promising cameo
Welbeck 6 -- it'll come

We could say story of our season. We deserve so many more points than we've got, but this is such an exciting team to watch, they'll blo(ss)om.

Not far off this for me. I’d only change Tross 8 and Maupay 6

Fantastic value Veltman, just £0.9m. Great business from Winstanley & co.

The story of the season, but now with a seemingly excellent defence, so we don’t lose all three points when we don’t score.

Sanchez 7 -- nothing to do
Veltman 9 -- MOM, dominant against one of the best players in the league
White 8 -- getting better and better, what potential
Dunk 8 -- another excellent captains performance
Burn 7 -- obviously not a top drawer player but gives it his all and always love his contribution
Alzate 5 -- not his night and not a LWB! Struggled in both directions. Thought Karbownik could have come on.
Bissouma 8 -- So good again. Think he could offer more driving forward at the right moments.
Gross 7 -- decent
Mac Allister 8 -- another with great potential, lovely passing but lacked killer final ball.
Trossard 9 -- so much better than Grealish tonight. Unbelievable quick feet. If he could add consistency and goals he could genuinely be world class.
Maupay 5 -- always seems rushed in everything he does. Tries hard but low on quality tonight

Lallana 6 -- not on long enough
Welbeck 6 -- ditto

Sanchez N/A - nothing to do

White 7 - safe, could perhaps have been a little bit more adventerous going forward
Dunk 8 - great performance, Watkins hated his life
Burn 8 - very safe defensively and also one of the biggest (ehe...) threats going forward

Veltman 8 - killed off Grealish and attacked well
Bissouma 8 - back to his best, controlled midfield
Alzate 7 - very convincing performance, was a bit worried ahead of the game but one or two wonky things aside he did well, close to 8

Gross 8 - hard work, slick passing, couple of nice crosses and set pieces
Mac Allister 7 - defo not poor but also not his best game, but grew as it went on
Trossard 8 - woke up (at some point, last week maybe) on his best side and was a real threat throughout the game

Maupay 8 - excellent movement and link-up play creating chances for everyone, got the best pass completion percentage in the medium range out of all strikers in Europe and probably increased the lead today

Lallana 7 - didnt really get into the game as much as I'd hoped but did well
Welbeck n/a

Sanchez 7. Did the very little he had to do well.

Veltman 8.5. Superb performance. Contributed well going forward and pocketed the weasel.

Dunk 8. Best of a very good backline performance. His resurgence has coincided with the team's.

White 7.5. Good defensively and composed on the ball.

Burn 7.5. Pleased for him, he did well again.

Alzate 6.5. Bit concerning when he got booked early but he did the job.

Bissouma 7.5. Does the job of two players and allows the rest of the midfield to do what they do. A few heavy touches and signs of fatigue though, think he might be a bit burnt out.

Groß 7. Nice passing as always, just missing the killer ball.

Mac Allister 7. Impressed with his work rate and ball control again.

Trossard 8. Very good performance, did everything but score. Some of his footwork was world class.

Maupay 6. His overall play was really good but his short-sightedness when running at goal or in the box was as frustrating as ever. Maybe needs more support up top in a game like that, definitely needs to bloody look up once in a while.

Sanchez 6 - did nothing wrong
Veltman 9 MoM - superb snuffing out Grealish and added attacking threat
White 7 - looks at home in the Prem
Dunk 7 - he's back
Burn 7 - guts and skill, great stand in
Alzate 6 - neat, didn't impact the game
Bissouma 6 - set such a high bar, seemed slightly off his best for last few games
Gross 7 - great engine, so close to picking the lock
Mac Allister 7 - one day he will own a game - you can see it coming
Trossard 8 - so skillful and dangerous. Just needs a finish
Maupay 6 - he leads when we defend from the front, but never expect him to score at the moment

Lallana 7 - very calm, picks up players around him
Welbeck 6 - good to see him back

Villa had one shot and one corner. The defence was awesome.

Sanchez 6 - Can’t mark him higher when he hardly touched the ball.
Veltman 9 MoM - Beautiful cross for Mac Allister that should have led to the winner. Sock in the pocket too.
White 7 - No problems at the back, he lacked a bit of attacking nouse at times.
Dunk 9 - Watkins in his pocket. Snuffed out absolutely everything.
Burn 8 - Sound in defence, could have given a tiny bit more in attack.
Alzate 6 - Did fine but not his position. Not the attacking threat the other WB Joel was.
Bissouma 8 - In total control of the midfield again.
Groß - 7 He needs an assist of goal to score higher.
Mac Allister 8 - The effort he puts in is sublime. Very creative but always outnumbered by Villa in the final quarter.
Trossard 9 - Really good performance. Outshone Sockboy totally.
Maupay 7 - Had a few half chances. He is not gifted with brilliant vision and a final pass like others but he needs to score more.

Subs:
Lallana 7 - Maupay could have laid off a tap-in to him for his first goal. Tidy performance, picked up the pace of game straight away.
Welbeck 6 - Not enough time but a victim of Martinez’s astonishing positioning that he maintained all match.

That's the difference.
We used to be able to score when they did.
We used to be able to keep them out when they did.
We could never get beyond them though, whereas if we were playing someone good, they could with us.
Now, we can keep them out, and the only question is whether we can score.

I would almost give MOTM to BDB for the header the shot and his contribution given th slagging he has had on NSC.

But the original posters scores look good to me

Think they’re accurate, Veltman probably deserves more though.

I’d say that’s the most we’ve controlled a side all season. Genuinely 90 minutes of us in charge while Sanchez had nothing to do. Think the xG will reflect this.

Agree re Veltman. Absolutely shut Grealish out of the game. There are a few XG models out there, average is around 3 vs 0.3 from those I’ve seen.

Best ratings so far.
We did so well to stop Grealish.
Our main attacking threat (Maupay) was off the pace where it mattered most though.

a galaxy far far away
Sanchez - 7 - A spectator for most of the match, so took out the chance to unfurl his range of calm accurate passing
Veltman - 8 - MOM. Quality passing, quality positional play. A top player. Surely has to play even when Lamptey is fit
White - 7 - Gave them nothing, contributed less going forward than in some games
Dunk - 8 - Impenetrable defending, some lovely passing
Burn - 8 - Terrific passing and a combative display.
Alzate - 5 - Doesn't look remotely like a wing back to me
Gross - 7 - Some lovely pokes and prods, but the set pieces weren't there today
MacAllister - 7- Wonderful invention but better finishing needed
Bissouma - 7 - A few heavy touches, but generally had the better of his opponent
Trossard - 8 - Lovely touches, lovely imagination, but some powder puff finishing
Maupay - 4 - Didn't threaten their goal enough. Doesn't generate much power. Place under serious threat

Sanchez - nothing to do so give a 6 for putting his boots on correctly,

White 7 - so so calm on the ball, at times he almost looks disinterested.
Dunk 8 - back to the Dunk we love
Burn 7 - he just makes me chuckle, he always try's even if it doesn't come off.
Veltman 8 - Quality had the better of Grealish all game
Bissouma 8 - he just commands the midfield, nothing glamourous but always in control
Alzate 6 - not great but I feel its a bit unfair due to him playing LWB a position he is not suited to, his flexibility could be his undoing or his strength.

Gross 6 - does this guy even stop running he must be knackered and I think at times it showed he needs a rest (not dropping)
MacAllister 7 - I love MacAllister he is starting to really blossom
Trossard 7 - I am struggling with Trossard's score - at time sublime and real quality but also frustrating at times, I think he is trying too hard to score and not always taking the best decision
Maupay 7 - movement and link-up play is great but we need someone to put the ball in the net and he does over complicate at times

Lallana 7 - the whole team seem better when he's on the pitch
Welbeck n/a

Potter - 8 had the better of Villa all game but I think he should have taken Gross off and he wilted.

A weird game overall, some of our play was absolutely brilliant and we dominated but in the end we only came away with 1 point so a bit disappointed.
