Fiveways
Steele 7 -- couple of good saves

Turns 6 -- solid
Roberts 6 -- ditto
Burn 7
Alzate 7 -- dictated things and prompted the first goal, but the customary misplaced pass in our third featured
Leonard 7 -- kept things ticking over, good strength for a youngster
Richards 7 -- caused them some danger
Moder 6
Mac Allister 7 -- two assists, causes danger
Connolly 7 -- two composed finishes, a few more poor attempts to stay upright. Good for his confidence

Thanks, appreciate that.

Out of interest, JC and Warren were raving about Turns on the commentary so I was expecting a higher rating for him, you weren't quite as impressed then?

Not sure how you give Steele the same as Lamptey! Steele's error nearly (and probably should have) cost us a goal.

Was quite impressed with Leonard…….plenty of decent tackles, strong lad too.

I thought the same. Especially early on.

He caught the eye for sure.

I was also really pleased with the crowds reaction to locadia. He almost seemed shocked, but he seemed to respond.

He had a moment or two and showed that deep deep deep down in there somewhere, is a good footballer.

Steele 6.5 - some decent saves ans some mistakes which should have been costly
Lamptey 7 - looked decent at times. Good run out for him
Turns 7 - very impressive start
Roberts - 6 was expecting more from him, got better as the game progressed
Burn 7.5 + good game from the big man
Leonard 7.5 - very impressive considering he wasn't expected to start.
Moder 6 - not at his best
Alzate 6- disappointing
Richards - 7.5. Looks a real talent
Macallister - 7.5. Decent as always
Connolly 8 - first looked like a helpful deflection, but 2nd was Classic Connolly.

Gross- 7 lovely freekick and was assured throughout
Locadia 6 - did ok but looks understandably rusty
Sarmiento- 6.5 could be a very exciting player for us.

Frustrating game. Too many misplaced passes. But the win was just about deserved.

Who is Turns? I'd never heard of him. Same for Sarmiento who looked very lively, and quick.

Great to see Locadia get such a warm reception from the fans. Unexpected, but a very positive.

Didn’t see the game so can’t really comment but 7s for two assists and for two goals seems low.

Not sure everyone was rooting for Locadia. A big chunk of the lower west were joking ' we're on the pitch if Locadia scores '.

For the short time he was on I thoughts Sarmiento looked very lively. Good dribbler and lots of pace over the first 10 yards.

On the Border
Steele 6 -- One minute making a good save, the next almost gifting Swansea a goal, but another clean sheet.
Lamptey 7 -- First steps to returning to the PL team. Tidy and good first minutes back
Turns 7 -- Impressive debut, looked a good prospect
Roberts 7 -- Another assured game in the League Cup
Burn 6 -- Steady
Alzate 6 -- Good link between back and front
Leonard 7 -- Impressive in winning the ball and moving the ball on
Richards 7 -- Grew into the game, and started to show his skill level
Moder 6 -- Ended up as central forward
Mac Allister 7 -- two assists, improved when he dropped deeper after starting as central forward
Connolly 7 -- Took his goals well and the left sided roll looks more suited to him

Gross 6 -- Got his trademark turn in
Sarmiento 6 -- A good debut from the bench
Locadia n/a -- A couple of good turns

He had a moment or two and showed that deep deep deep down in there somewhere, is a good footballer.

He looked like he was trying really really hard but obviously needs minutes, didn’t look that match fit. He did a few pretty good ‘touch & goes’, his passing was actually very good as was his positioning and runs.

The only downside was a criticism he has got before and will get again. He is supposedly 6ft 1” tall but looks so incredibly weak when going up against opposition players in 50/50 situations. I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt in terms of him going down easily (Murray did this a lot) to get a free kick but when the ref gives you nothing it looks really poor. That’s when you have to battle back.

The tone of this season was set for me when Tarkowski mowed over Maupay without any rebuke and then scored. Locadia should be a lot stronger in the challenge and hold his ground, perhaps some one-to-one sessions with messers Dunk N’ Duffy might toughen him up?

I was very excited by Sarmiento’s potential. Pacy. Good close control. Always got his head up and looked to move forward and quickly. Would seem to be a real prospect.

I thought Richards, Turns and Leonard were all impressive. I was pleased for Connolly scoring twice, but he really needs to learn how and when to pass the ball to those around him or in a better position.
