What a poor game. Clearly we can't play in the rain - last wet and windy game was Cardiff and look what happened there. Sidwell was awful. At least he admitted as much when interviewed after the game.

Stockdale 7. Couple of decent saves, but a couple of kicks into touch and too much hoofing for my liking.
Bruno 7. OK game.
Goldson 8 MOM
Dunk 8
Rosenior 8.
Stephens 5. Not at his best. Clearly needs Kayal alongside.
Sidwell 2. Very poor. Slow, no forward movement, crap passing. So far he has done nothing of note in his couple of games. I would have preferred to see Ince.
Murphy 6. Made an effort, but not his day.
Knockaert 4. Poor decision making.
Baldock 5. Put some effort in, but that's about it.
Hemed 4. Did nothing of note.

Subs:
Zamora 5. A couple of decent headers. Offside two or three times.
Lua Lua 4. One decent shot, fell over, not much else.
Wilson 2. Did absolutely nothing.

Stockdale 7
Bruno 6.5
Dunk 6 [a couple of wobbles]
Goldson 7
Rosenior 6
Knockaert 5.5
Sidwell 3 [lumbering]
Stephens 6 [okay, but moved the ball too slowly]
Murphy 6
Hemed 5 [no service]
Baldock 5 [no service]

Without Kayal we lacked that creative spark, and the hustle and drive to press their midfield and put them under pressure.

Stockdale 9, one marvellous save and a clean sheet. You can ask no more
Rosenior 6, too many wayward balls
Bruno 6 little going forwards

Goldson 9 Another good game
Dunk 8 steady, didn't make any glaring errors

Sidwell 4, never got to grips with the game
Stephens 5, didn't get the time on the ball he needs
Murphy 5, the full backs seemed to have the measure of him
Knockaert 6, seemed to try a bit too hard and as a result didn't get a lot

Hemed 4, sitting on your arse, arms wide spread looking at the ref doesn't get goals
Baldock 4, anonymous

Subs 4 each

Sheffield Wednesday 7, thought they were the best tacklers we've had visit, thank christ they couldn't shoot. deserved their point.

Ref/Linos -100, dont think they got a grip of it at all. Thankfully there was nothing contentious

Stockdale 8 - two decent saves but you'd expect him to make them
Rosenior 7 - solid
Bruno 8 - made a couple of important tackles and the only player to demonstrate any skill in a Brighton shirt in the 90 minutes
Goldson 8 - MOTM - I think he'll make the step up to the prem one day, but will it be with us?
Dunk 8 - commanding. Only one error, the bizzare sliced back pass when under no pressure for the corner
Sidwell 4 - anonymous and when he did have the ball he looked ponderous or lost it
Stephens 5 - looked a little lost without Kayal
Murphy 5 - they doubled up on him, defended deep and he was nullified
Knockaert 5 - he must over hit ten passes every game
Hemed 5 - worked hard for the team but had zero service
Baldock 4 - not his night

Wilson 4 - made zero impression
Zamora 4 - constantly offside
Lua Lua 4 - looked like a pub player. Would have preferred Skalak

Wednesday came for a point but grew in confidence and could have nicked all three. Fair play to them and their fans.

Our worst home performance in the oppositions half. Looking around the pitch at the end all of those little partnerships that have been so effective all season were displaced. We had Murphy and Bruno down the right, Rosenior and Lua Lua down the left, Wilson and Zamora up top and most crucially, Stephens and Sidwell in midfield. No wonder they played like strangers. The only proper pairing was Dunk and Goldson and they won us a point.

All this is right from my perspective except that I' d give Murphy a 7 as he was lively and at least got close! A tricky night in many respects, we needed to be at our best but were far from it. Seen worse, wasn't dire. But nowhere near what we are capable of.

Agree with this but Dunk 7. Goldson seems to get better and is a leader. We played too narrow but in all a game where two teams cancelled one another out. Onwards.

Rosenoir 5
Dunk 5.5
Goldson 7.5
Knockaert 4
Murphy 5.5
Sidwell 4

Zamora 4
Wilson n/a
KLL 5

Outmuscled and out-thought

We looked worse when Zamora came on, and all we did then was hit it long.

So disappointed and hope we don't meet them on the play-off's as they looked more of a threat than us.

Stockdale 7
Bruno 6 Marked down because no crosses or passes into box
Rossenior 6 Ditto
Goldson 7 Only let down when going forward gave ball away
Dunk 8 In control
Stevens 7Not bad
Sidwell 5 Didn't do anything positive
Knockhaert 2 Never thought he could be so poor
Hemed 4 Just not good enough
Baldock 4 Ditto
Murphy 6 Only threat but not much

Thought credit should go to Shef Wed. Think Wilson must play instead of Baldock or Hemed neither of whom cause enough problems in box

Funny how we all see things differently.

Yeah Sidwell was poor - he admitted that himself. However, I thought Stockdale was excellent and Goldson outstanding. But I also thought Stephens was our best offensive player. Everything we did went through him and he was carrying Sidwell for the most.

There are other positives. Lets not lose sight that this was a very good Sheff Wed side, who sit 6th in the Championship, not mid-table mediocre or dire relegation fodder. They came for a point in dire conditions and we couldn't break them down. Also, that's 4 clean sheets on the spin now and we are 3rd in the league, 10 points clear of 7th.

From central west upper - looked to me that Dunk was man of the match covered a few mistakes from Goldson and was one of the few players trying to get the ball forward. All round a poor effort missing Kayal and no one able to step up to his contribution

Stockdale 8 - couple of great saves, great distribution in those conditions
Bruno 6 - solid enough
Rosenoir 6 - solid enough
Dunk 7.5 - we've got a great CB pairing now - 4 clean sheets in a row says something in this division
Goldson 7
Knockaert 4 - as my Leicester colleague told me, he will have some games where he is infuriating. Last night was one. Awful delivery time and again but always trying to make something happen
Murphy 6.5 - livelier than most
Sidwell 4 - massive, massive downgrade on Kayal who we missed terribly. Would prefer Crofts on last night's showing
Stephens 6 - thought he did OK
Baldock 5.5 - no service
Hemed 6 - no service

Zamora 3 - just dreadful. Daft fouls, ponderous, caught offside way too easily
Wilson 5 - one decent run/cross, otherwise didn't really get involved
KLL 4 - poor

Conditions didn't help, ref was useless, and most other results went our way so a long way from a disaster, but shows what a linchpin Kayal is in this team.
