6 - average

Ryan 6
Lamptey 7
Burn 6
Dunk 6
Webster 6 - has such a poor touch when he dribbles. Improved
Trossard 7
Stephens 7
Propper 6 - got better after the howler
Gross 7 - sits in pockets of space, provides excellent balance to us as a team, and Trossard aside, looks like our only goal threat from midfield.
MacAllister 6
Maupay 7

Subs - 6

Thought we did well the errors were such a shame

No idea what game the Gross sub 7 scores were watching? We only score because he has the ability to play a first time round the corner blind pass straight into Lampty’s path because what he lacks in pace he has in speed of thought. He sped up our play throughout, some really clever, creative passing that we’ve lacked of late.

This.

Blimey just when you think these intricate analytical threads couldn't get any worse, entire players are now being missed.

What's the point, go back to predicting the line up.

As a team very good and refreshing after approach to Utd game. Just sad we are in PL and give away 2 goals because players cant control the ball

Ryan 6
Burn 6 Shame we have to play him there for his heading ability at Ryans long kicks and defending corners. Time for Bernardo
Dunk 8 Very good
Webster 5 Has cost us a lot of goals. Losing control of ball like that shouldnt happen at this level
Lampty 7 Attacking play great. Struggled against very good players in defence. Couldnt understand why gave wide players so much room.but assume these are instructions
Stevens 7 Midfield as a unit moved the ball on well and quickly. Helped that Lampty and forwards movement was good.
Gross 7 As Stevens
Propper 5 As Stevens but like Webster shouldnt at this level give away a goal because you cant control the ball
MaCallister Maybe a bit harsh but didnt notice him much which is not something you want in such a vital position trying to link up with forwards
Trossard 8 Constant menace and great goal. perhaps should have done better with some chances
Maupay 7 Good game Perhaps should have done better in front of goal

Side was playing well at time so subs didnt make a difference. Connelly was fed a great ball from Propper that left him one on one.. Not only didnt get in a shot but tamely lost ball.. Sorry.get pushed off ball too easily

Ryan 6

Connolly 6
- playing for his PL career next season I feel, could have scored, seems to be lacking confidence / belief.
.

That's a lot to put on a lad that age (or it would be if it weren't nonsense)

Ryan - 6
Did ok, nothing real special and distribution was a bit wonky. The pass to Pröpper is fine, the mistake is 100% Pröpper's first touch in the situation.

Lamptey - 9
What is there to say really. I got the same "I'm watching something really special here" feeling as I got from watching Dan James in Swansea last year. And this time its in the Premier League. Already a top class player, thank God all the top teams got very good right backs.

Webster - 8
Great performance aside for the small mistake that the Pool players turned into a big one. Other than that a MoM contender, been really good after the break (as well as in the game before it, against Wolves). Some really nice passes as well.

Dunk - 7
Good as usual, bit less to do than his comrade in central defense and ****ed up the offside trap a few times, could have been costly.

Burn - 7
Did very well especially defensively. Zero confidence in the opposing penalty area unfortunately. I think if he just scored a goal he would bag one every now and then.

Stephens - 6
A few good passes and a few bad ones. Did a decent job as always and you pretty much know what you get. Good squad player.

Pröpper - 5
The mistake is unacceptable, its a whole different level than the Webster ****up. Gets the ball and got plenty of time and five free, available teammates but cant decide whether to play it directly to Lamptey or back to Ryan, resulting in an undecisive first touch that you simply cant do at this level. And similar things happen every game which is unfortunate as he got all the basics to be a great player. Some really good actions and passes, but also turns into a tragedy anywhere near the opposition penalty area.

Gross - 6
Fairly anonymous but worked hard and his corners were fine. Close to a 7.

Macallister - 6
Pretty meh today, did well in applying pressure when they had the ball though. Not a lot of space to work with.

Trossard - 9
Ok sorry I get it, you're good.

Maupay - 7
Not as sharp around the box as he usually is, but worked his ass off, won possession and his passing game is underrated.

Subs:
Connolly - 7
Looks on fire. The goal is just around the corner.

Bissouma - 6
Close to a 7. A bit hit and miss.

Mooy - 6
Didnt really get into the game.

Pretty much agree with all of this, would probably bump Bissouma up to a 7, thought he looked good again. He's made a very strong claim to be starting regularly next season. Hope you're right about Connolly, he needs that goal.

He's 20. He's broken through into the first team, he's had 22 or so appearances this season. We'll be looking to bring at least 1 striker in, maybe 2. He is playing for his role next season, which could be out on loan, could be firmly in Potter's plans. Do you know which then for it not to be nonsense?

I think Webster was a little unlucky and had a decent game. He played the ball smartly out of defence when under pressure on a number of occasions. It was a poor mistake but he hardly handed the goal to Liverpool on a plate. Nobody has mentioned that it was a tremendous finish by Henderson. He'd win 'Most Improved Player' for me. A much better player than he appeared to be at the start of the season.

I sort of agree, but poor mistakes will cost you goals against a team like Liverpool, It was a tremendous finish, that's why they have romped the league. Take our two sloppy mistakes out of the equation and who knows?

Think I’m gonna be higher than most having seen the first few...

Ryan 7 - Didn’t have a lot to do saves wise. Cool on the ball but put Propper in a little danger for the first goal but not to blame. Threw up in his goal before the game incidentally - loves the team and the game.

Lamptey 8 - just oozes class and you forget how young and inexperienced he is. List Salah for the 3rd but he’ll learn from it.
Webster 6 - He’s not bad and does some great things but also has mistakes in him and isn’t the best defender. Duffy is a better defender and although Webster is better on the ball, £20m looks too much for him from what I’ve seen so far.
Dunk 8 - Does so much to make us tick and is the model of consistency these days.
Burn 6.5 - Does well and has played well all season, but can’t help but still think he’s not a left back. Not one we need - we need a Lamptey style one - would Burn have crossed for a goal and made that run like Lamptey did - don’t think so. Good squad player and feel harsh writing this as he’s personally been great this season.

Stephens 6.5 - poor mistake giving the ball away but also some lovely touches and passing. Ball for Trossards great chance he hit over bar was class. But feel we need to upgrade the CM next season
Propper 6.5 - Exactly same comments as Stephens.
Gross 6.5 - Best game for a while but pace more of an issue under Potter style than it was under Hughton.
MacAllister 6.5 - Learning all the time. Little sloppy but some very good stuff too. A young talent for sure.
Trossard 8.5 - Showing his worth last few games and is settling in. Wish he’d drive and defenders more as the ability is there.

Maupay 8 - Best signing of the Summer. Great touch, passing, movement and very consistent. Class and underrated player by many for me.

Subs:
Connolly 7 - Very close to being a top, top striker. Loan to the championship for 6 months may help. Movement first class.
Bissouma 6.5 - lost it a couple of times but made some fantastic runs too. The future.
Mooy - Too little time to mark - the fact he was on the bench and we played so well says a lot for squad depth.

All of this apart from point about Connolly. He needs to be working on his craft against the best, not in the Championship. He scores again, many more will follow. He's a finisher.

Ryan 6 - Distribution not great. If you aren't having a player on the near post at corner (or at least marking the near post space) then that's the keeper's area. Partly to blame for Salah's goal

Lamptey 8 - another good performance from the youngster. Outclassed their young left back forcing the half-time substitution. IMO got a bit narrow second half that allowed Robertson a lot of space on occasion.
Dunk 8 - another solid performance from the skipper. Shouting "for ****'s sake" at Propper after the first goal sums him up for me. Never lets us down.
Webster 6 - you know that if you play tappy around the edge of the box Liverpool are going to press high and press hard. Total lack of awareness. But to be fair he worked hard to try to repair the damage his carelessness caused.
Burn 7 - did his job well.

Propper 5 - not for the first time this season dozed off in possession on the edge of the box.
Stephens 6 - did ok but not Bissouma
Gross 7 - probably his best performance of the season. Much more like it
Trossard 7 - worked hard. Took his goal well. Two games in a row where he has started and performed well. Long may it continue

MacAllister 5 - hopefully he will improve once he settles in and gets a run of games. You don't get to play for Argentina if you haven't got it. I've just not seen it yet.
Maupay 7 - industrious and gave his all. Cleverly played off Gomes (Liverpool's weak link IMO) and tried to avoid VVD. Smart.

SUBS

Connelly 6
Bissouma 7
Mooy 6

3 shocking errors. 3 goals. Apart from that we matched the champions of the world. Gotta take plenty out of that performance. Totally different to the Man Utd defeat.

Still in Brighton
Ryan - 5. As time goes on I like him less. His distribution is poor too often (are we really deploying Burn on the left to receive his high kick outs? I'd change both players) and his decision making to throw out to Propper, for the first goal, was unnecessary and rushed. He wasn't close to saving any of the 3 goals - he wasn't to blame but he wasn't close, again too often the case. It didn't use to bother me but I've come round to thinking, yes, he's too short. Sorry Maty.

Lamptey - 8 Very impressed again. Yes, some naive defending but got himself out of trouble with that electric pace. Great runs, great crossing. Got clattered a couple of times again (which seems to be happening every game so far) but he seems strong and not bothered by it. At the moment. I'm a bit wary this targetting of him could lead to a serious injury. Love having him in the team but he's very young so probably needs protecting a bit?

Dunk - 7. So mature and steady nowadays, player of the season for me.

Webster - 6. Agree with others that he has improved a lot. Still think, while he was lauded in the Championship for coming out with the ball, this is a different level and I'm yet to be convinced he has the ability to do it so frequently. Time will tell. At the moment £20m seems a bit high.

Burn - 6. He's done brilliantly so far in what he has been asked by Potter to do (reminds me of El Abd under Poyet) but.... against the better teams it's too obviously round peg, square hole. I would like us to have a better left back and Dan to be considered a centre back again.

Propper - 6. Sorry, never really rated him. I still don't think we play him in his best position. He didn't let the error ruin his game, commendable, but his first touch when facing his own goal can be a real liability. If there's still interest in him and we can cash in for profit then I would. Does play better with Biss than with Stephens though so...

Stephens - 6. He's been a great servant and don't agree slagging him but I think it's time to move on. The Stephen-Kayal axis was brilliant but he hasn't found a natural partner in the middle with us since.

Mac Allister - 6. Bit anonymous today and was clattered again a few times. I do think Liverpool's dirty side is often over looked. He'll come good though, an exciting prospect.

Gross - 8. Seems he's been off form for so long this performance was a revelation. His lack of pace today was not an issue. Intelligent and crisp passing.

Maupay - 7. Up for it, worked hard, caused them problems.

Trossard - 8.5. Best game for us? So he can do it from the start. Great movement, clinical finishing. Please smile.

Bissouma - 7. Up for it. He's been much better than I thought he was going to be. Regular starts please.
Mooy - 5. No impact. Doesn't seem as quick in thought as I expected, prefer an inform Gross.
Connolly - 6. Looked lively but rusty.

Ryan 6 - Put Propper in trouble with the first goal would have been better to play Dunk to his left rather than the player with 4 around him. Positioning not great for the corner goal they scored. Was decent but not one of his best performances.

Lamptey 8 - Not sure about the positioning on the corner, don't think he should be marking Salah but that's not his fault. Great assist and looked brilliant all game, very good signing.

Webster 7 - Thought he played very well aside from the mistake leading to there second goal he was solid and started the move for our goal.

Dunk 7 - Solid performance perhaps could have helped command the box more for their third goal. Not really much threat from our corners.

Burn 7 - Good game defensively solid, got forward would be higher if he scored which he should have.

Propper 6 - Has to react better for the first goal conceded, got swarmed a few times in midfield however I do think he grew into the game but a little too late.

Stephens 6 - Done his best against an elite midfield but was clearly outclassed on occasions. Often feel him and Propper are too similar.

MacAllistar 7 - Thought he looked promising, Technically very good and helped us boss the game before half time. Still got to get used to the physicality of the league will become a very good player for us i'm sure.

Gross 8 - Was worried when I saw him in the lineup due to lack of pace however he was very sharp and one of the best players on the pitch. Thought he was very good.

Maupay 7 - Played well perhaps could have scored, Joe Gomez in particular struggled with his movement.

Trossard 9 - Positioning fantastic, read the game excellently and scored a great goal, arguably his best game for us.

Mooy 5 - Never really got a hold of the game like he usually does.

Bissouma 6 - Came on and fit straight in, didn't create much though.

Connolly 6 - Came on and made a nuisance of himself without really being a threat

Great game. Encouraging positive performance, especially after going two down within ten minutes.

Ryan 6.5
Lamptey 7
Webster 8 -- one mistake but, beyond that, played really well
Dunk 7
Burn 6 -- second game in a row where he has a chance in the six yard box, and doesn't connect properly
Stephens 6
Propper 5 -- two rotten touches that hardly set us off well, technically gifted experienced international should be doing better
Mac Allister 6
Trossard 8 MotM -- 9 for first half performance which contained some memorable passages of play, faded in the second
Maupay 7 -- great work rate, caused danger

Subs:
Bissouma 7.5 -- looked quality
Mooy 6
Connolly 7

I do wonder if people actually go to the games.
