After a slow start to the season Dunk is once again the best and most consistent player at the club.
Totally imperious in this form and probably only behind a very in-form and confident Stones in terms of best British CB.

My 9 for Trossard and Maupay was somewhat tongue in cheek............
............. but I was trying to make the point that, in my view, they both contributed a lot more than many on here gave them credit for.

I am astounded that having secured PL survival some want to slag off players. The whole team was immense, calm and brilliantly coached. We won that game well and the game management, so often criticised this season was top notch. The pressure was immense and I am going to laud every single player

As GP said when asked about the missed chances football is a low scoring game, its what makes the game it is. This of course means that most chances go unpaid. Although I think this is generally true. It is also true that the reason we are have been in a relegation battle this season is due to some awful finishing. So while I get your point and in the main agree with it, we cannot keep missing these opportunities. Even Welbeck made a remark to the effect that the boys had missed laying off to him so he laid off to himself. But yes while Trossard has missed a few quite often he created those chances himself and hopefully he will get a bit more clinical. But yep on the whole I am pleased with this season, I think this is the first season we can say we have stayed up (hopefully) on our own merit.

That’s just how it is for goalkeepers, difficult to shine when nothing to do.

No extra mark or two for being calm under pressure and giving the defenders confidence that he’ll save what gets past them? We have seen what happens to defenders when they lose confidence in the keeper, their form suffers.

Do you feel it’s been a battle? We have never been in the bottom three, and whenever we’ve been close we’ve eventually, but calmly, picked up points to keep sufficient distance.

Could argue the 2nd season the gods were on our side but the other three we have comfortably avoided relegation come the end of the season.

This. We could still finish relatively respectably mid-table. And although I would normally be paranoid about “mathematically safe”, Fulham and WBA have to win all their matches to catch us.

No to be honest I don't fully accept that. I think last season we took full advantage of the lock down and got our shit together, we had one win in 10 games before that, and the future was looking very bleak. As to the first season it was still touch and go until that great win over Utd, season two is to quote Douglas Adams better off left in "the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying 'Beware of the Leopard'.”

No. Average is the starting point, that should be an expectation, what you’ve described is basically him doing his job otherwise why select him?

We all know goalkeepers who don’t exude confidence, some of them even end up at Arsenal ��

That’s why if you look at industry standards ratings there are a lot less above 6, than when you read an NSC thread.

Edit - put a different way, if he’d made a ricket he would have dropped below 6, if he’d had numerous saves he would have been 7-10...... the fact is he didn’t.

There is no doubt in my mind it is the hardest position on the pitch and arguably the most pressured...

We’ve earned it every season, to say anything different is nonsense. You finish where you deserve.

Our excellent first half of the season saved us in season 2.

This season we’ve played well but can’t finish, hence we’re not top 12.....

Still hopeful of 43 points which would be pleasing.
