Superb all round. Hard to fault anyone. Only criticism really is for PercyTau. It's early for him and you could see it today.
Needs to learn the defensive aspect of our forward play quickly. Didnt press and track or cut off passing lanes effectively. Also needs to hold up the ball better. Shouldnt take him long but I would use sparinglyin the centre till it has improved. Could be another AliJ or could be just the maverick element we need. Still too early to call but not his best 20 mins.

He badly needs coaching in the scenario he came on to. Needed more from him at this stage.

Sanchez 7: didn't have a lot to do but what he did do he did with reassuring confidence. It's so nice seeing a keeper come off his line and comfortably pluck crosses out the air.

Burn 6: did ok, opne or two heart in mouth moments but dealt with what was in front of him effectively.

Dunk 8: Excellent.

Webster 8: Ditto. Possibly my man of the match. Loved watching him work today. He's almost unrecognisable from this time last year.

March 6: A diligent, hard working performance if lacking in sparkle.

Veltman 7: Solid. He's our Gary Neville. you know exactly what you're gettin with him - a good solid performance.

White 8: Another man of the match contender. Was excellent from start to finish, protected the back line beautifully and strode forwad on a number of occassions. He's turning into a classier Stephens in centre mid.

Gross 7: Shock inclusion over Bissouma but proved it wasn't the wrong decision. Linked play intelligently.

Ally Mac 8: A second really good performance in less than a week. Surely cementing his place in the starting line up for the time being. Very clever footballer.

Maupay 7: Another goal. Confidence is coming back. good to see.

Trossard 8: Like Ally Mac he caused the Leeds defence plenty of problems. An on song Trossard is a great player to watch.

Bissouma 6: Steady eddied when he came on.

Tau 6: Not as eye catching as against Man City.

Propper 6: not on for long but did what he had to.

Overall an outstanding team performance. That combined with the clean sheet and three points is surely the shot of confidence we need to go on and pull away from the relegation zone. Well done Potter for choosing a starting 11 that had many of us scratching our heads but totally dominated the game. I would love to hear him break down his thoughts on the selection.

Only a few minutes paired with a tiring Maupay, then left up front on his own - not at all sure that that's his forte.

Me neither. I never get pissy knickered about the starting 11 because we have a squad that know's what is expected. Gross had to do the ugly stuff and deserves a bit more credit for that.

Yesterday was all about three points. The pressure was on and they pulled it off.

How has Tau got so many 6s? I admit to being a bit worse for wear and on the edge of my seat around the time he came on but I thought he looked completely lost and until the last minute or so really struggled to keep the ball, pass well or link up with play. I guess I’m being harsh given so many decent ratings on this thread though.

Potter 10 - had a tough but positive week. Delighted for him. Outperformed the most overrated manager in history

My thoughts exactly. Commentator pointed out that he could speak to one of his English subs quite easy and get his ideas across but can't understand a word from a journo.

No I don't speak another language but then again I'm not living in a foreign country and being paid millions.

I can't speak for anyone else but I use 6 as the baseline. Tau wasn't on for particularly long and, in my opinion, had no real effect one way or the other on the performance so he gets a 6.

Agreed. I know he's learning etc.. But he gave the ball away in his 20 mins than the rest of the team did together in the 90. Nearly cost us the game. His half hearted jogging and not closing down had me shouting at the TV in frustration.

There was a great press conference a few years back. Poch was not doing English press conferences at the time for Southampton but pitched up and started it in English. He was a few sentences in when he was reminded by his interpreter that he should be speaking in Spanish instead.

Yeah, I was not having a go at him as such, he has a steep learning curve and unreasonable to expect him to hit the ground running, although he was magnificent against City imo. I was expecting more yesterday..probably unjustified though. Did do a nice keep ball at the end though.

Sanchez 7 So good to see a Brighton goalie come for crosses!
Veltman 8 Classy performance. Always seems to have time.
Webster 8 Very good today.
Dunk 8 Back to his best. some great passing.
Burn 7 Seems better than many think. I appreciate he isn't a specialist LB or LWB but always puts in a shift.
March 7 Played well but crossing is not consistent enough.
White 8 Excellent in this role and wins some important tackles
Gross 7 One of his better games.
Trossard 8 Considering it was away, he really seemed up for it. Best for a while.
Mac Allister 9 Really seemed to enjoy the role and played well. I think Lallana might struggle to get his place back on this showing.
Maupay 8 Good to see him get a goal and hopefully confidence will come back and bring another 10 or so.

Bissouma 7 Surprised he didn't start but was proved to be a good decision.
Tau 6 Was much better v City
Propper 7 Good to have a sub of his quality. Hope we can keep him but we almost have too many midfielders good enough to start.

Only manager to watch the second half as working so ratings only based on that

Sanchez - 9

Veltman - 9
Dunk - 9
Webster - 9
Burn - 9
March - 9

White - 9
Gross - 6

MacAllister - 6
Maupay - 6
Trossard - 6

Bissouma - 6
Tau - 5
Propper - 6

If I had seen the whole game as Mrs Blue3 did I would probably have given higher marks to the forwards as seeing MOTD the link up play for the goal was very good

Many positives to the game but I agree with others that Tau did not understand his role which was to slow things down , keep the ball and challenge the opposition. Maupay gets a lot of stick from people on here who clearly don't see his work rate and effectiveness. Indeed my criticism of Maupay is he might need to do less of that and hang around in the box more.

Gross is also seen as a problem , sure he has little pace but he is very competitive and gets through a lot of work he also takes out players when he has the bal, he still beats them with his control.

Mac Alister was MOTM for me because he got the team moving forward but plenty of very close contenders.

I think the key yesterday was that it was a genuine TEAM performance with many really strong performances. That’s also clear when you read the whole thread and there are many different candidates chosen as MOTM . It wasn’t just the defensive solidity of Veltman, Dunk and Webster in particular, or the stifling midfield of White and Gross, or the creativity of Mac etc etc - it was all of them - not to forget GP. I think they should be Garth’s Team of the Week tm but he may not quite pick them all

Stood out for me.

Potter got it right, but definitely don't like trying to hold onto a 1:0 lead. So scary given our track record...

Exactly the 5 who did for me. I don’t like White in midfield as think he’s better CB but he’s been immense in last 2 games. Veltman - same with RWB - he’s not a RWB at all, but he did really well. Webster can occasionally have the touch of a donkey, but his runs going forward are excellent and open space up. Dunks been superb the last month or so. Mac certainly looks technically good - just needs to be a little stronger as is a bit lightweight (like Trossard). But very pleased with how things have gone since halftime at Wolves.

It was a team performance. The goal was started by Sanchez to March, March to White, White to Macallister, to Trossard and finally to Maupay.
Brilliant stuff.
