We were brilliant for the first 15 minutes, then took our foot off the pedal and our performance got steadily worse throughout the remainder of the game. Charlton, though, were very poor, so not too much to worry about.

Very concerning that on a couple of occasions late in the first half we had three players attacking Charlton's goal, but no support from the midfielders who were strolling around in the centre of the pitch when at least one of them should have been busting a gut to get upfield to assist the attack.

Thought it was very poor of OG not to bring CMS on for the last five or ten minutes (I would have given him at least fifteen) so that the fans could properly acknowledge him on his return to fitness. A real mealy-mouthed decision.

Ankergren 7. Not a lot to do, but did what he had to well.
Bruno 6. Some good, some bad. Usual Bruno. Would have preferred Calderon to have kept his place.
Greer 8. A couple of awful upfield punts in the first half, but otherwise one of his best games for a long time. But we need to take the opposition (or lack of) into account.
Upson 7. Usual solid performance from our player of the season.
Ward 7. A couple of shocking crosses in the first half. Apart from that a decent enough game.
Andrews 7. Strong performance. He was very good earlier in the season, then went off the boil. Is he now back to his best? And more importantly will he continue to play well.
Stephens 7. Slotting in well to the current formation. A real asset.
March 5. Started off brightly, but poor for most of the game.
Lua Lua 7. Played very well in the first half and deserved to start. Went off the boil a bit in the second half. Not happy with being subbed and appeared not to even acknowledge the applause from the fans.
Lingard 8. Well taken goal and all-round excellent performance ... apart from that miss in front of goal. MOM.
Ulloa 7. Much improved over recent performances.

Subs: JFC 6. OK. Well taken goal.
Calderon. Not on long enough.
Rodrigues. Ditto.

If you watch on TV/streams you only see the bit of the pitch the camera is covering, and that is often focused on where the ball is, you don't get to see other runs made and ignored, you don't see the run that pulls someone out of position, you don't get to see which player is slow to react to the attack breaking down slowly trudging back towards the half way line while everyone else is busting a gut to get back, etc. (and that's not including slow to react cameramen missing an incident or ITV cutting to commercials when England are about to score)

The "best view" is subjective, but even if we accept that the high camera angle is the best, there are thousands of people in the east and west uppers that have that same view, but with more choice as to where they look rather than just where the cameraman is pointing his equipment.

There are pros and cons to both TV and watching live.

Exactly. You can do what you want in a stadium, rather than accepting what a broadcasting editor wants you to watch. What do coaches/scouts/managers/etc do when they go and see games? They choose to watch the performance of a single player. So you can do what you want when you go and watch a game.
And Acker's spot on to say that you get a better view in the upper tiers.

Ankergren -6 reliable with one good diving cut-out to a second half cross. Lucky with the deflected effort that hit the woodwork. Better distribution than the PiG.
Bruno -6.5 especially first half much of the ball coming forward was through him. Links up well going forward. Few poor heavy touches at the back
Greer -8 good defensively and intervened to deflect the ball onto the bar when a goal seemed certain. Some exquisite passes going forward playing strikers in on the edge of their box were outstanding and would be a credit to a midfielder let alone a centreback.Merited MoM.
Upson -7 steady eddie as ever
Ward -6.5 got forward well and gave their defence a merry dance in tandem with Kaz although crosses lacked accuracy. Rarely troubled defensively.
Andrews -7 Sweeping in front of the defence and alternating as the last man back when we pushed forward for set pieces. Didn't put a foot wrong other than possibly failing to cut out the break that led to them rapping our woodwork.
Stephens -6.5 Good solid job. Very high energy stopped their midfield breaking forward
March -6.5 Better centrally than when he rotated wide. Good vision but overhit some crosses when a better distribution could have hurt them more. Struggled to maintain full intensity but a potential talent if used carefully.
LuaLua 7.5 Robbing Poyet for the first goal epitomised his game. Pace, tenacity, control, accuracy. If he can maintain it he has to be a certain starter.
Lingard -7 marked down for the chance he missed but his confidence is getting there and his movement yesterday was top notch.
Ulloa - 7 Morrison and Dervite failed to get on his heels and the extra space allowed him to stay on his feet for 90 minutes and to show greater mobility and pace than sometimes this season. Having Lingard playing closer to him imakes it much harder for defenders.

Forster-Caskey -6.5 came on and picked up the pace - not always his strong point

Overall we started off passing and moving at pace. Had we maintained that in the second half it might have been six. Charlton were very very poor.

Absolutely. Couldnt understand this either. With the game wrapped up it was an ideal opportunity to replace Ulloa with CMS and give him a good 10 minute run out in front of the home fans. To not give him even just a few minutes is bonkers. What could Rodriguez offer for the last 5 mins that CMS couldnt?

Those criticising Lingard for that miss.. I think there's a little bobble just as he goes to hit it.
