Plenty of discussion of the game, but being stuck out in the colonies some player ratings would be good too. Thank you.

Brezovan 5 - Otherwise decent, loses out for stupid mistake

Defense - All 7s, 8 for Calderon based on flair. don't remember Carlisle having any clear cut opportunities, not to blame for either goal.

Navarro - 9 - MOM, had a brilliant game.
Crofts - 7.5 - Looks better going forward, perhaps should have shot a couple of times and didn't.
Dicker - 6 - Quiet
Bennett - 9 - All around a very good player.
LuaLua - 7 - I'm getting a little tired of his run around but create little gameplay, deffo needs to pass it a bit more when he cuts inside especially since the rest of the team were linking up well together.

Barnes - 6 - Not a 4-5-1 player, probably better as an impact sub right now.

Hendrie - 7 - Looks good, could get a lot better with match fitness, he was pushed very far up the pitch though, almost like a third striker, leaving Navarro with a lack of options.
Holroyd - 6 - Ran around, never looked dangerous infront of goal, one good long ranged shot perhaps the first ive seen from him.

I'm in a good mood right now so expecting them all to be a couple of points above the average

Brezovan 5 - Could do nothing about first, some good claims, but really poor decision to come for their second. Not a lot else to do.

Calderon 6 - Typical Calde defensively, but seemed to be one who let complacency creep in a little, dispossessed a couple of times trying to play his way out of the back.

Elphick 5 - Needless freekick for first, sloppy in possession a couple of times. Did pretty well against Price, but not his most commanding performance.

El Abd 6 - Pretty solid, didnt do too much wrong. Didnt have an awful lot to do.

Hoyte 6 - More solid defensively than I have seen him, looked lost when we had the ball. Especially when he seemingly allowed the ball to leave the pitch before kicking it.

Bennett 7 - Good game, plenty of effort, workrate and desire. Couple of decent free kicks.

Dicker 6 - More quiet and ineffective than usual. Hendrie looked much brighter when he came on.

Crofts 6 - Cant really remember if he did much, think it was a typical Crofts performance, seemed to get forward a bit more than normal, but only after we were behind.

Navarro 7 - Thought he did well today, still get scared when he gets the ball sometimes but very useful defensively.

LuaLua 7 - Some good some bad. Great running as always, some good crosses some poor. Awful shooting. Needs to improve decision making.

Barnes 6 - Not the man for 451, but not much better when Holroyd came on. Some good touches and hold up play, couple of average attempts at goal. Feel he suffered a bit from a lack of support.

Subs:
Holroyd 6 - One good attempt which went just wide. Literally did nothing apart from that.

Hendrie 7 - Some good touches and great play for the goal. Would love to see him start a bit more

I'm in the whole 5 is the average mark camp. Which I feel more people should be.

---

Brezovan - 4 - Had little to do. The things he did, he didn't do very well.

Hoyte - 4 - As mentioned in another thread, he's not League One quality, let alone Arsenal quality.

Elphick - 6 - Done OK. Silly RIDE to concede the freekick leading to their first goal. Good run for his goal.

El Abd - 7 - MOM - Been more and more impressed with him under Poyet. Winning a lot of headers no matter the size of his opponent. I also no longer panic when he has the ball at his feet (OK, well maybe sometimes!)

Calderon - 5 - One of his quieter games. Caught out of position a couple of times, also had a few stray passes. Not to mention his 40 yard effort that almost hit the clock (slight over exaggeration)

Lua Lua - 5 - Frustrating.

Navarro - 6 - Gave the ball away a couple of times. But overall made good coverage, knocked it about a bit, and got stuck in. Also the most vocal player actually trying to lift the team.

Crofts - 6 - Would like him to be the more attacking of the 3 central midfielders. We've seen he can get forward, cause trouble, and hit a good shot, but doesn't do it enough. Overall he done OK.

Dicker - 6 - Going to give him a 6 simply for his lovely turn in the middle of the pitch first half, causing 3 of their players to go into a spinning world of confusion.

Bennett - 6 - Again one of his quieter games. Almost like if Calderon isn't on it, then Bennett isn't on it. Didn't get enough supply out to him though.

Barnes - 4 - Agreed that he's not a lone striker, but still had a couple of sniffs, but didn't really do anything with them. Also got a booking.

Subs -

Hendrie - 7 - Will be quality at this level if he can get match fit. Hope we sign him for next season. Quality ball for the goal. Needs to pull strings a bit, as felt he should have taken the freekick in approximately the same place as their goal. Perfect place for a left footer, whether he's a freekick specialist or not.

Holroyd - 6 - Will give him a bonus point for at least having a pop at goal from ouside the box, that actually went close, something we didn't see much of in the 90 minutes.

Ref - 2 - Utter, utter TRASH.

Do not agree as I thought that the ref was the best we have had this season by a country mile. Allowed the advantage and as soon as he realised there wasnt an advantage he blew up.

Dont think that he made a bad or wrong decision throughout the entire game. He watched the handbags with Price and El Abd and again took the correct approach and just spoke to both without a card for either.

I thought ref was decent today as well, some people just will not be pleased unless a ref awards a penalty everytime our player trips up in the box and gives a red card to boot.

Navarro and LuaLua appeared to have a little wager on todays match as to which one woud get on the score sheet first. Both of them shot at almost every oppurtunity they had where as Dicker looked scared to have a go

While he was obviously at fault for their second goal, I would be interested to know what else Brezovan did wrong. I thought he claimed everything else, made a good save from a header from a corner and his distribution was generally good yet you seem to suggest he was rubbish all game.

Pretty much agree with this. Although I would give Crofts 8, m o m performance in my opinion, Anyone else notice he won every header in the midfield? including some intelligent flick ons. Great on the floor as well.
Edit: Sorry just noticed, Tommy would have to lose 2 points there.

I can't remember a game with less crowd noise, I almost dozed off at one point.

I think it might have been on the phone in yesterday they were saying the same thing. The view seemed to be that we were playing okay without inspiring the crowd and that as most people think we are safe there wasn't even the desperation, which at least means there is noise. As a result, I agree it was very quiet yesterday.

Quite. We had 20 shots on goal, they had three! Their defence won the game, IMO. Gutted that both free-kicks were debatable and silly mistakes cost us again. But Carlisle will have gone home breathing a huge sigh of relief. They were shithouse!

On another note, can their coach get a bollocking from the FL for doing the old 2-1 with his fingers to the F-block fans towards the end? Utter utter :tosser:

I agree about the free kick for the first and was surprised it has not been mentioned. I thought Price was backing in as much as he was fouled. Annoyingly about ten minutes after their goal, one of their players jumped all over Dicker in a good position and nothing was given.

As for the second, I think it was a free kick which we had to give away after a poor pass from Elphick. It was so frustrating though as there should have only been one winner after we equalised and that shouldn't have been Carlisle.

Exactly.

They only looked like they were going to score from a Harte set piece or delivery from a set peice.

We were by far the better side, without really cutting them open in the first half, the 2nd half was a far better performance.
I personally though Bennett and Lua Lua were excellent in the game, sure Lua Lua needs to hit the target more when shooting but im not having a pop at someone having a go, its not as if there were obvious passses on at the time.
Barnes is a very young striker and needs a partner, he's probably only played up top on his his own a few times, it takes a certain type of player to do that roll. We missed Murray.

I would say however 2 essential signing over the summer will be a top class keeper and a top class centre half still.
We miss painter on the left also.

Still annoys the F*ck out of me when people keep shouting get it forward !... people have got to understand we really are moving away from that type of football under Gus. Enjoy the possesion enjoy the passing, if we can get Calderon ( excellent ) Painter and Lua Lua tied down to long term deals and get a few more in over the summer and a good pre season in were set for a very good season in my opinion.
