Ryan - 5 - a couple of abysmal punches from corners - could have gone anywhere.
Veltman - 7 - Great signing - fear he is going to suffer the same fate as Uwe though.
White - 7 - A couple of misplaced passes early doors, but got stronger. Really starting to see what all the fuss was about now
Webster - 6 - Solid- but a couple of misplaced passes when under no pressure
Lamptey - 7 - Quality as ever. if only he'd buried that chance in minute 1 it would have been so, so different
Gross - 6 - Average - some good stuff, but oddly ponderous today.
Bissouma - 6 - Average
Burn - 6 - Did nothing wrong - but doesn't really add much either. Hopefully Solly will be back soon
Lallana - 8 - MOTM - different class. Keep him fit and we have nothing to worry about.
Maupay - 5 - Rarely do I rant against a player. But FFS wake up you muppet!! always holds on too long, Wastes so much of our opportunities. Would preferto see Connolly and Welbeck together.
Welbeck - 7 - Great runs and movement. The timing of his runs for his 2 gilt edged chances were superb. Hopefully it was just rustiness that prevented him putting them away. Glenn's place has been filled at last.

I've mentioned it a couple of times on various threads, but I really think that the signing of Welbeck has unsettled Maupay. He was flying up until that point.
He has always been guilty of holding on to the ball too long, but that was more commonly to try and shoot himself rather than playing people in. Now he is more often wasting the opportunity to shoot/assist completely.
I think the club need to put some work in with him, because he has the talent, but needs to sharpen up.

Glenn was a natural finisher, probably the best we’ve had since Peter Ward.

Whilst Welbeck is a fantastic footballer and better than Glenn in a number of areas, I’m not so sure that he is a natural finisher.

Agreed.

But the runs he made to get on the end of his two chances were instinctive and intelligent. like Glenn in his prime, I thought.

I agree
I’m developing a dislike of Burn’s ability

A tryer but doesn’t seem very good at anything

Lovely fella when interviewed though

5 for Ryan why in a nil nil draw when he did what was asked of him.

It’s a valid point and I wouldn’t argue with a 6.

I marked him 5 as he didn’t inspire confidence from corners and crosses plus most concerning was the ease in which he was beaten from the mis-hit cross which hit the bar. He was nowhere near it and but for a lick of paint we’d have lost the game.
