On way home now, will give it a bash.

Brezovan - 7. Caught a couple of crosses under pressure, punched with distance when he coukdn't catch and kicking was fine.
Jara 6 - Didn't get forward much and overhit ancouple of passes and a cross. Disappointing.
Mattock 6 - Crazy handball, very nondescript game but no doubt the best left back we have.
Greer 7 - Untroubled by them.
El-Abd 7 - Same, and made his usual customary blocks and interceptions.
Bridcutt 6 - Had a chance to shoot at an open goal 1-0 up, looked a pass. Not his best game.
Navarro 6 - Fairly anonymous, another who decided against shooting when presented the chance.
Razak 6 - Not in the game, but showed glimpses of his sheer genius and skill.
Buckley 5 - Shocker.
Barnes 5 - Not involved at all.
CMS 7 - Agree with Gus, best game for a while but looked like he fluffed his goal, maybe lucky to get another chance but goal all the same.

Subs
Noone 7 - Made Chimbonda look silly and a couple of good crosses.
Assulin 7 - Mainly for the onr mazy run which petrified Donny completely.
Vokes 6 - Not involved.

Ankergren 7 - Signed my programme after the match. Legend.
I tapped to talk.

On the radio they were saying Navarro was brilliant and that it was one of his best performances. So strange how people can watch the same match and rate performances so differently.

Do you think warren might have a fondness for central midfielders who like a pie?

CMS and Noone were class, Navs put in a shift, Mattock looked assured though beaten a couple of times. Reyes a little hit and miss. Buckley didn't back himself and though Bridders played well, still convinced he should have had a pop at the open goal.

Everyone has an off game. If you saw Razak last week you'd know he was quality.

Razzak will be good at home, but Donny away... well that is why Gus said he didn't like loans - do they really give a f*ck?

Brezovan 7 but didn't have much to do so hard to score
Reyes 7 ok
Greer 7 like the whole defence, didn't have much to worry about
El-Abd 7 even got forward and had a chance with a header
Mattock 6 apart from the pen, I don't think he has maitained that first game promise
Bridcutt 7 plays well every week in my eyes
Navarro 7 I like him this season
Razak 5 this was the one person who was noticeably off it today. Surprised he wasn't subbed earlier
Buckley 7 broke away countless times, and got into shooting position too, but didn't deliver enough
Barnes 6 busy and always involved
CMS 7 my Albion man of the match. Never stopped and was a constant nuisance to Donny's defence

Noone 7 as soon as he came on we had our best chanc of the secnd half. Fouled so many times in such a short time on the pitch.
Vokes 5 would have preferred CMS to stay on
Assulin 7 I would like to see him have 70 minutes and Razak replace him, instead of the other way round

REF 4 Too many unfathomable decisions for both sides. The spitting bastard threw himself on the ground several times, but twice in particular the ref told him to get up. No card though. The mark of a poor ref is when both sets of fans think he's shit. This one was. Fortunately none of his fcuked up decisions actually affected the result.

Brez 7- pretty solid, one strange punch
Jara 6- poor delivery when getting forward
Greer 7- solid though poor set piece delivery
El-Abd 7- untroubled
Mattock 6- bizarre handball, was given the run around in the first half
Bridcutt 6- poor by his standards
Razak 5- struggled with the bumpy pitch and not much came off for him
Navarro 6- did nothing wrong, but no real impact
Buckley 5- why not run at the defender when you are so quick?
Barnes 5- passing was awry when crucial moments presented themselves
CMS 7- lucky with his goal but looks a much more confident player

Noone 7- looked back to his best after a couple of poor performances
Vokes - no chance to make an impact
Assulin - though he only got the ball once, what he did with it was quality, needs to start

It shows how far we have come when getting a draw away in the championship makes certain so called fans feel the need
to come on here & slate a player who only 7 days ago was fantastic for us.

Poor team performance and poor game today. It felt more like watching a bottom of League One game, in terms of both quality & atmosphere.

As such I can't really be arsed to give ratings, except to say Noone was our best player. That he came on as sub tells you all you need to know perhaps.

Review

Not a great performance today. It is interesting that one reviewer thought that Barnes made a good contribution and one thought he was not in the game. My perspective is that he contributed nothing meaningful. Razak, as has been mentioned, had a shocker. He was easily muscled off the ball when trying to contribute. Buckley tried hard but was not at his effective best. Navarro was as good as he will ever be...

The defence was sound and Noone was good when he came on - looked like he could open the game up for us. However, overall we looked disjointed and spluttering. The midfield didnt function until Razak went off when there was more space in the middle for Bridcutt to play in. However, Doncaster also found more space after that.

What is good is that when we are not playing well we hold our defensive shape and do not fall apart (as was often the case in years gone by). This is a great credit to the coaching staff.

As the previous reviewer said - subdued game and atmosphere. I thought the pitch was not great either.

Most of the players get a 4 from me. Bridcutt and Paula Abdul get 3, Navarro gets 5, Noone and that Assulin kiddie were the most impressive with a 6 each, shame they had about 5 or 10 minutes on the pitch.

Bit harsh fella? I wasn't at game today but last Saturday he was amazing. Sounds like they all mostly had an off day on a poor non passing pitch today.

Brezovan - 6 Didn't have a serious save to make but dealt with most crosses put into him.
Reyes- 5 I didn't think he looked up for it today
Greer - 7 Steady throughout. I'm not sure what the 'flat' free kicks were all about though. They didn't work.
El-Abd - 7 Did what he normally does competently.
Mattock - 6 Was having a decent enough game until the hand ball.
Bridcutt - 5 Not his best game. Not as dominant as he can be and a few misplaced passes.
Navarro - 6 The pick of the central midfielders.
Razak -4 As poor today as he was brilliant last week. If he can't dominate against bottom of the Championship Doncaster he's not going to break into the Man City team. Didn't do himself any favours today.
Buckley - 5 A strange game. He had a lot of the ball but seemed reluctant to run at people.
Barnes - 5 Anonymous for a lot of the game.
CMS - 6 Ran around a lot as usual and held the ball up the best I have seen him. A bit lucky with the goal and should have done better when one on one with the keeper.

Noone - 7 His best game since his return from injury.
Assaulin - 7 Unlike Buckley he's not afraid to run at people. I would start him next time and keep Buckley for the last twenty minutes.
Vokes - 5 Never got into the game.

Don't blame Poyet's team selection/tactics, the pitch or the ref. We simply didn't play that well against the team bottom of the division.

A very poor ref who to me favoured the home side more though, should have send Chimbonda off in the 2nd half for his repeated and cynical fouls on Noone.

The programme notes by Donny Chairman said it all to me. "I welcome the decision to appoint Geoff Eltringham to this game"

I wonder why?

Yes, and the rest of it moaning about the result at the Amex was quite extraordinary too.
I don't actually mind when anyone sticks up for their side, but you don't get Chairman's notes like that anywhere other than at Elland Road usually.
