Apologies for posting in the match thread too.

Steele - 2
Veltman - 2. Worst performance I've ever seen from him
Dunk - 2
JPVH - 6. Plays like he cares and makes good interceptions
Barco - 5. Some big mistakes but kept going and showed promise
Baleba - 2. Really poor. Positionally dreadful and poor game awareness
Moder - 2 Doesn't have a position. While he's been here he's played wing back, on the wing, one of the attacking 3, centre midfield and deep lying midfielder. He hasn't dominated/impacted on the game in any of these. He needs to be moved on if we are going to progress. Before you say it, I know he got a bad injury but he doesn't have the attributes to help us.
JP - 5. Bad miss. Did something though.
Welbeck - 4
Gross - 2
Lalanna - Walking Footballer who needs to retire.

Subs - can't be bothered but Adringra has been dogshit since Afcon
RDZ - 2 Worst moment was his love in with Pep before the game then picking the pacey three amigos of Joel, Lalanna and Pascal against the one team you arguably need pace against.

Yes, yes it's Man City but that was awful.

The saddest thing of all is that I've never seen a game without a Gross turn

Barco was a 7 and a 3.

I like him a lot. Look forwards to seeing him become established in the team next season.
On last night’s game I’d give him 4. Poor at left back, better further up the field. He didn’t look like a defender last night.

How do you make that out?
1. He was simply the last person under pressure in a stint of tippy tappy nonsense when the ball should have been released a lot earlier.
2. Do you mean the cross that de bruyne headed in ? A bit of a worldy, I'd say.
3. Or was it when Igor went missing - again- as left back and he had to cover in a hurry to no avail.
Very harsh judgment of an energetic and skilful performamce . DEFINITELY MOM?

Out of position for the cross for the first goal and gave the ball away for the 3rd.

Did you make it to school on time this morning?

So the entitlement begins....

That was Barco's full debut, against the current EPL and UCL champions. I thought he did fine.
On the other hand did Welbeck touch the ball in the first half?
Why a 2 for Steele? No chance with the first, second a deflection, no chance (special mention to Gross for turning his back, now he WAS shit last night), third he's playing as he is TOLD to do, if anyone was at fault for the third it was Baleba who had a chance to turn but is just not experienced enough yet.
Agree on Veltman and Moder scores.

In black and white terms you are right but I still feel that is harsh and ignores all the other good stuff he did.
Can't think of anyone else who put in a shift like he did - maybe JPVH but lets give the youngster some encouragement.
I have said he was much better when further up the field, this was not ignored I’m just saying it didn’t make him man of the match. And regarding your last comment regarding encouragement,,I am not writing him off, and I obviously want him to succeed, I’m just offering a mark out of 10 solely for last night. I’m not giving Veltman extra points because he’s getting on a bit, likewise I don’t do the same for young players; it’s a pure assessment of their performance last night…..which is what I thought these marks were about. I can understand why some might want to weight their marks according to age and ability but I don’t.

Of course City are far better but our distribution was terrible. Dont know stats but every chance perhaps 9 city players never made a misplaced pass yet would think all of ours continually did so. Goodness knows whether this was just poor passing or players not getting in position to recieve.

The 3rd was created by the madness RDZ has instilled in our play. Not the players fault.

agree about the madness but a senior player should have taken the decision to clear it down the pitch...

what amazes me is the people who think there is only one style of play , tippy tappy, and if you say anything about increasing speed or long ball you are a heretic. Good teams can mix it up longball, short ball in triangles doesn't matter they just know they are going forward with a purpose and we seem to have lost ours i.e. we play a style but don't seem to have an intent.
