Player ratings ... this one with ratings

Once Dolphin, Now Seagull
I can never really make my mind up about Barnes but today I became a convert. He worked tirelessly for the team, covered for players out of position and is a natural goal scorer...and all this from a position that is clearly not one that he is naturally used to

Brezovan - 7 No saves to make really, nothing he could do about the goal, dealt with everything he had to comfortably enough

Calderon - 8 He has been so good in the second half of the season, hopefully secured his place for next year.
Mattock - 7 I don't know who was to blame for the goal, there were four players back verus two Birmingham and they didn't deal with it. I thought he was good, and assumed that he only came on because Gus loves doing that as a supposedly attacking sub.
El-Abd - 7 As above for the goal, pretty funny dealing with Zigic, not much to say really Birmingham threatened very little.
Dunk - 7 Passing was off a couple of times, but ok

Bridcutt - 7 Decent game, glad people haven't forgotten how good he was for most of the season in voting him POTS, has had a little bit of a dip at the end but a key player still.
Navarro - 5 Gave the ball away a lot.
Vicente - 8 Untouchable
Buckley - 7 Some good moments and did nothing wrong but doesn't seem to be dominationg fullbacks the way he can lately.
Barnes - 7 Solid performance, well taken goal

Mackail-Smith - 5 Not his worst performance in recent games but so often the play breaks down with him, he doesn't seem to make good runs when he does get the chance to, I think the last game where he really looked like a dangerous striker might be Leeds. At home.

How people are marking down Navarro I don't know. He was solid yesterday and is definitely our most improved player this season in my opinion.

Brezovan 7. Barely a save to make, but no chance with the goal
Calderon 8.5. Man of the match IMO. Excellent today
Dunk 7. Good game, possibly his last home game
ElAbd 6.5. Outshone by Dunk IMO
Mattock 7. Solid. Baffled why he was subbed
Buckley 7. Not at his best, but seemed to switch between right wing & centre forward - didn't seem to know where he was playing
Bridcutt 7. Very good on the ball, not so good without it
Navarro 7.5. Another strong performance, but I have a suspicion he won't be here next season
Vicents 7. Not his best game IMO.
Barnes 8. Just don't understand what he has to do to get more backing from the supporters. Keeps the ball, wins free-kicks, scores goals. It's not his fault he has to play out wide
CMS 6. Not as bad as he has been, but still.... towards the end he tried to control the ball, it hit his knee and ballooned into the crowd. Sums his season up

Pretty much agree.

I thought Barnes was close to MOM.

Anyone who is suggesting that Noone did more than Dicker as a sub must still be drunk.

Because he gave the ball way a lot and wasn't as effective off it as he has been, yesterday was a definite step down from his form in recent weeks, excluding the West Ham disaster of course.
