Sullivan - 8 Some very good stops, has really grown into the role. Can't see Kuipers getting back in the team!

Virgo - 4 Awful passing, and some surprising poor defending.
Elphick - 6 Ok
Hinshelwood - 6 ditto
Livermore - 5 Out of position

Birchall - 7 The only player who wanted to carry the ball forward, made some very good crosses but I would like to see him in the middle.
Jarrett - 6 Decent but at times could have done more to get on the ball.
El-Abd - 6 alright
Cox - 6 Wasn't his greatest game but still got some good crosses in, including for the goal. And four or five dangerous corners!!

Forster - 6 Worked hard but was well marshalled by Nelson. Right place at the right time for the goal, as you'd expect.
Andrew - 6 Better with his head and chest than feet! Gives us a different option that we haven't had at all since Revell and Savage left. Not sure he'll start too many games with Davies and (maybe) Murray here though.

Carole - 8 Brilliant. How he is playing in this league I don't know but we looked like scoring every time he got on the ball. Lost nothing since he left. Welcome back Seb.
McLeod - 7 Coming on as sub probably suits his level of (un)fitness, because he does have ability. Good cross for the winner and not too bad overall.

4 for Virgs is harsh put in some good tackles tried to get forward - on the down side skinned a few times and some poor balls - worth a 5.5.
Carole 9 - Just for holding the ball on his foot for a second then playing a great ball - flair - my kids were saying - who is he ? he's good.

As far as a neutral opinion went with the father in law - hartlepool and pompey (?) supporter. He rated Cox, Elphick, Virgs and Carole
(although what does a pompey supporter know about football ?)

That was beautiful. I am SO happy he's back, this one signing has made up for many of the shit things Adams has done this season. As long as he plays him regularly of course.

Maybe I was a little harsh on Virgo, but I was thinking that I could only remember two or three times that he actually passed the ball to a team mate!

Sully-8 some great stops and showed has much better kicking than kuipers

Virgo-4 very poor pasing (hoof) Got beaten by their quick winger too many times
Hinsh-5 poor for first goal and generally a bit dodgy
Elphick-5 One quite a few headers but looked a tad vulnerable
Livermore-5 solid but bit slow

Birchill-7 Few good crosses, unlucky to come off
Jarret-6 Didn't do too much but looks like a half decent signing
El-abd-6 Does simple things well but lacks creativity
Cox-5 Awful first half, wasn't confident running with the ball on the bobbly surface

Forster-7 Worked hard (as usual), took goal well
Andrew-8 Won lots in the air, worked extremely hard and deserved goal

SUBS
Carole-7 Dangerous, showed flair but wasnt supplied ball enough (VIRGO)
Mcleod-6 Looked average apart from some great wingplay for winner

Adams-8 First time he has changed the match for the good this season!

Sullivan - 7 - Good saves, not sure about MOM though

Virgo - 5 - Poor today, was run ragged by their left winger
Hinshelwood - 5 - Okay in general, but at fault for their goal
Elphick - 6 - Dissapointing distribution but defensively I thought he was fine
Livermore - 5 - Out of position and very forgettable

Birchall - 7 - Looked good today
El-Abd - 6 - Steady as usual
Jarrett - 7 - Looks like a quality signing
Cox - 6 - Not great for the most part but quality cross for the first goal

Andrew - 8 - MOM Won everything in the air against an experienced defender, worked tirelessly, and got the goal he deserved to win the match. Still a palace reject though ;)
Forster - 6 - Thought he looked very off form today, he was poor for much of the game but his striker's instinct hasn't left him and he was in the right place to bang in the equaliser

SUBS:
Carole - 8 - Instant impact. In truth he probably wasn't as incredible but you can't argue with the fact that he changed the game. I had some sympathy with the frustration from the stands when Birchall was taken off, but MA got this one spot on
McLeod - 7 - Luckily only required to run for 13 minutes, about as much as his fitness can cope with it seems, brilliant cross for winner.

Can I just say, bloody good ref, shot linesmen though.

You can say that because the big decision he got wrong was massively in Brighton's favour - he missed what seemed to be a clear handball by Virgo which might have been a penalty or at least a very dangerous free kick (couldn't really tell from G Block).

Sullivan 8 - I'm concerned FDM may not get back in on merit

Why concerned?? As a Brighton fan you should want the better player in the team. A fan wanting a player in the team despite not being the better of the players of choice is slightly concerning in itself.

BTW, I'm not having a pop at Kuipers here, it just seems that you are admitting that Sullivan is the better option but are upset about it.

What about his big decisions that were against us? - the ruled out Elphick goal, the Hartlepool players hand ball which was as much a penalty as the Virgo one, and the constant soft free kicks he kept awarding to the Hartlepool no.20 whenever he fell over a blade of grass.

Sullivan 7 - looks the real deal. Couple of critical saves at key times

Virgo 6 - not as solid as ususal
Hinshelwood 6 - did a reasonable job
Elphick 5 - i'm concerned about his form this season
Livermore 7 - I thought he did very well at left back

Cox 6 - worked hard but sometimes lacked that final ball
Jarrett 8 - really like him as a player, good in the air and brings quality to the midfield
El Abd 7 - good solid game
Birchall 7 - touches of quality

Forster 7 - ran his sock off, good goal poaching
Andrew 8 - great signing, great work rate, gives us an added dimension up front

Subs (Adams, inspired)

Carole 9 - so good to see him back in the stripes, had a huge impact when he came and caused no end of problems with his running. Hugs the touchline and opens up play
McLeod 7 - great cross for the winner. Has a touch of real quality, we just need to get him fit.

Great to come away happy.

On the topic of Sullivan's performance ...

What would have been the verdict if Hartlepool's disallowed goal had been allowed to stand?

It was a superbly taken corner that beat everyone and went straight into the net. It was disallowed because there had been some pushing - but not in any way that interfered with the ball reaching its target. Sullivan was not impeded, but he completely failed to deal with it. Should we be marking him down and talking about "schoolboy errors"?

Didn't we have a disallowed goal, too?! ???

Brighton
Sullivan 8
Virgo 4 Not his best game. Caught out in first half and distribution unusually poor
Hinsh 5 Exposed a bit in first half.
Elphick 5 Not as dominant as usual.
Livermore 6 Great to have his experience in the team. Solid
El-Abd 7 Solid defensive job. Put great tackles/blocks in and passed well on occasion.
Birchall 8 Unlucky to be subbed. Played well. Dangerous runs. Occasionally drifted in from the right a little to much but looks a good signing. Best game for us so far
Jarrett 7 Looks a very good signing and he compliments El Abd well
Cox 5 Quiet game but still offers us something
Forster 7 Worked hard as ever
Calvin 8 Great debut. Good feet. Held the ball up and brought others into the game

Carole 8 Exciting player. "makes thing happen" as Adams would say.
McLeod 7 Still think he can do a job for us. Great cross for the goal.
