Stockdale - 8 -Good
Bruno - 7 - Better than Saturday but he must learn that a progressive throw in normally results in us getting further up field, he doesn't need Greer as an option every time
Dunk - 7 - Ok
Greer - 6 -OK but when he gets the ball to play with a misty cloud appears and it rains. An image of a jaw dropped Gordon brown comes in to my head. He kills any momentum.
Bennett - 7 - OK but wasn't as good or imposing as Saturday
Kayal - 9 - Perfect. MOTM
Ince - 6 - One of his poorer games if honest.
Calderon (God) - 8 - When he was a cat he played in defence NOW he's a DOG. The cheek of God
Baldock - 8 -Glad he got on the score sheet
CMS - 8 - Great assist, good running but as usual the control of a 13 year old boy whose discovered porn.
Tex - 9 - Could of scored a hat trick

lua lua - 5 Poor
Stephens - 8 Thought he up to speed unlike Saturday
O'Grady- 8 Won everything. Did more in 10 minutes than Best did in 80 Saturday.

Hughton - 9

Stockdale - 7.5 Not a lot to do, but did it well, and focused enough to make key late save
Bruno - 7 A much much better performance than saturday
Greer - 7 Started nervously with a few mistakes, but settled down and turned in a good performance
Dunk - 7 Like Dunk, a better performance than Saturday
Bennett - 7
Ince - 7
Kayal - 7.5
Teixeira - 8.5 Another brilliant performance, decision making and shooting seem to need work
Calderon - 7.5 Lucky goal, could have had others
CMS - 7.5 His energy and determination were a much bigger factor in his game than his poor first touch tonight, good cross for the first goal
Baldock 7.5 Worked hard, good run for his goal

Stephens Didn't have a chance to do much
Lualua Deserved the yellow, could see he was going to lunge in angrily feeling hard done by for not getting the free kick just before, other than that, no chance to really do much.
O'Grady Didn't have a chance to do much

Why did we take Ledesma on loan?

For once, I don't think there was a single player on the pitch that didn't play well, so 10/10 for all for all for them with the unfortunate exception of Stockdale (9), purely because he had sod all to do.

Stockdale 8 His best game of the season nothing special just did the simple things correctly and efficiently.
Bruno 7 concentrated more on defending
Greer 7 Vast improvement on Saturday
Dunk 7 as per Greer
Bennett 7.5 Most improved player since Hypia left now a defensive full back who can attack,
Ince 6 Poor game by his standard.
Kayal 8. Very impressive commended the midfield
Tiexiera 8.5 MOM very good performance in all areas
Calderon 7 Plenty of effort didnt know anything about his goal it just hit him
Baldock 7.5 looked much more comfortable with CMS as partner.
CMS 8 Good allround performance caused Leeds no end of problems
Subs
Stephens 7 Vast improvement on Saurday also getting more minutes on the pitch.
Lua Lua 6 Held the ball well silly yellow card out of frustration.

WTF? ? ? ? ?

He had NOTHING to do. Leeds had 1, yes count it, 1 shot on target. How the hell can you say that was Stockdales game of the season? Weird.

He took every cross and catch cleanly and distributed the ball well. Exactly what you want and expect your keeper to do no fancy flashy saves. Just calm and efficient, more like that please.

Right here, right now
Kuipers 7 - Good distribution, good saves and good collections under pressure. Made my heart stop when he waited for that ball near the end, when Hulse
??? almost snatched it

El-Abd 7.5 - Resolute, got skinned once but went for everything

Lynch 6.5 - Good home debut, distribution needs to improve slightly although he was put under a bit of pressure by Carole now and then.

McShane 8 - Champ!

Butters 7 - Held the line well, good vocal and physical performance

Reid 7.5 - Nice to see him in right of midfield. Harshly penalised in the penalty area. Couldn't have asked for much more.

Carpenter 7 - Commited, but not his greatest performance in an Albion shirt. Did well though.

Hammond 7 - Stopped giving the ball away as much. Solid, fearsome tackles despite a booking.

Frutos 7.5 - Made some good runs and tracked back, helping out wherever possible.

Carole 7 - Needs to take less risks deep in our own half. But work rate was very good.

Hart 9 - Have we found our target man we have been looking for? Gave 110%.

D'Urso 0 - I wish I could get paid well for something I was crap at....

Highlights v Leeds

Baldock, top scorer in League One last season with 24 goals for Bristol City, shot home from the edge of the six-yard box after Teixeira had released Mackail-Smith down the right.

Mackail-Smith should have doubled the advantage shortly after but shot straight at keeper Marco Silvestri after being set up by Teixeira.

Quick play by Brighton had Leeds back-pedalling and, from a neat pass by Teixeira, Calderon put an angled shot across goal.

United keeper Silvestri produced two saves in the space of two minutes to deny Teixeira.

Teixeira released Kayal and, when his goal-bound effort was parried by Silvestri, the ball rebounded to Calderon who scored from point-blank range.

Teixeira was also denied by the woodwork in stoppage time, his rasping low shot coming back off the base of Silvestri's right-hand post.

Its All Too Beautiful
Is it competition for places that has made us progress. A choice of striker and centre midfield is now giving us options. Dare I say that we were close to playing two up front last night. CH, great and inspired team selection last night.

Highlights v Leeds

Baldock, top scorer in League One last season with 24 goals for Bristol City, shot home from the edge of the six-yard box after Teixeira had released Mackail-Smith down the right.

I think Calderon was the one who won the ball and released CMS

Mackail-Smith should have doubled the advantage shortly after but shot straight at keeper Marco Silvestri after being set up by Teixeira.

Tex made a poor decision as he had two players to his left, same applies to CMS who should have clipped it to the back post

There were a number of other occasions when a better decision would have helped the team more, particularly when he should have played in Kayal who rightly gave him a telling of afterwards.

But a fantastic performance. I think Liverpool have got a gem and only hope we can get him for one more season on loan, as he will only get better.

Baldock, top scorer in League One last season with 24 goals for Bristol City, shot home from the edge of the six-yard box after Calderon had released Mackail-Smith down the right.

I get your overall point, but this one was Calderon I thought.

Anyway, ratings:

Stockdale 8: Calm, confident, assertive. Claimed every cross and distributed very well
Bruno 7.5: Much better. Clearly his best game for a while
Dunk 7.5: Had little do do really but marshalled the defence well
Greer 7: Better but distribution still very erratic
Bennett 7.5: Defended well, overlapped well
Ince 8: Another huge performance
Kayal 8: See Ince
Teixeira 9.5: Absolutely superb. Did a Vicente at one point to waltz past Leeds' defence
Calderon 8: Another goal, another good performance. Just give him a contract already!
Baldock 7.5: A strikers goal. Played well.
CMS 8: The man for the occasion. Control was poor but he an Leeds ragged.

Subs:
Stephens 6: Made little impact but still could have scored
Lua Lua 7: Lively
O'Grady 8: Strong centre forward play

I honestly thought Hughton had lost his mind playing CMS but I was 100% wrong. He absolutely exhausted Leeds and for the first time in his Albion career, we played through balls! We actually played to his strengths after 4 years! Only minor negative is that we could and should have won 5-0 or more.
