his distribution is worse than Ankergren

Quite right - Brez is only stronger on catching and oming for crosses. Gus said how Ank was playing centre back vs Orient and freeing us an extra man by doing so. Do people not see this!?

Ankergren- 7 - Punched a corner for the goal, and it came back and they scored, apart from that assured.
Tarrico - 7 - Looked a bit slow first half, but excellent second half on the overlap.
Greer - 7 - Major hissy fit with Casper in first half, won a lot in the air
El-Abd - 8- Typcial Bomber performance, was always where you wanted him to be.
Painter 7 Mr Consistency
Bennet 7 Swapped wings well with Noone, a bit quiet by his usual standards though
Bridcutt 8 A few passes went astray initially, but he then was everywhere, and broke up play very well, always wanted the ball
Sparrow 6 Fairly quiet, touch and go whether him or Dicker was taken off
Dicker 6 Not quite the cutting edge and incisive through balls that we love to see
Noone-6- Started superbly, a real box of tricks, but faded in second half.
Murray - 9- Best striker we have had since Bobby, a classic centre forward performance, and a joy to watch. Gets us LOADS of free kicks too.
Wood - 7 - Linked well with Muzza
Barnes - 7 - Didn't do a huge amount, but his contributions were vital
Kish- 7 - A wily old fox at right back

I thought Exeter were a pretty decent team, they try to play the same way as us, but don't quite have the same quality throughout the side, their number 7 was very tasty though. Their fans made plenty of noise, so hats off to them for that.

It sounded like Dicker was pretty anonymous first half, but radio can be deceiving

Nah, Dicker didn't have a great game, Murray and Bridcutt were the best player for us. Wouldn't mind signing their number 7.

Ankergen - 7 - Kept us in the game with 2 quality saves in the first half, just needs to stop flapping
Tarrico - 7 - Got stuck in and defended well...The home fans didn't like him did they! "Where's your caravan?"
Greer - 8 - Brilliant in the air and assured in possesion
El Abd - 8 - Keeps getting better and better, yet another solid performance
Painter - 7 - Standard no-nonsense performance
Bennett - 6 - Very quiet by his high standards
Sparrow - 6 - Ran alot but gave possession away too often, touch and go whether to take him off ahead of Dicker at half time
Bridcutt - 8 - Brilliant. Broke up play so well and seems to read the game better than others, always one step ahead
Dicker - 6 - Range of passing wasn't quite what we have been used to this season. Also seems reluctant to shoot?
Noone - 7 - Looked very promising. Dangerous when running with the ball - he is pacy and skillful. Ran out of steam in the second half
Murray - 9 - Different class. Won everything in the air, looked a constant menace, well taken goal. Needed someone up top with him in the first half

Barnes - 8 - Well taken goal, in previous games he has been blasting those sort of chances over the bar or straight at the keeper. Made a real difference
Wood - 7 - Linked up well with Murray but still a little slow and off the pace in my opinion
Kish - 7 - Calm and composed as always

Fair play to Exeter - can see why they don't lose much at home. Probably feeling a little hard done by and deserved a point, but we will take the win

Casper 6 - Made some good saves today, but if he wastes another MINUTE of my life waiting for an attacker to chase him down at a STUPID point during the game (0-0 in the first minute today), I am going to become a Brezovan supporter I think. It just looks ridiculous, as despite being top of the league and them being mid table, Casper gives the impression we have come for a draw. Also, learn to f***ing CATCH!

Tanno 6 - Decent enough, does like bombing forward and didn't tire til later, where Gus made a good move in bringing on Kishishev to close down their useful left back who had begun to see much of the ball.

El Abd 8 - Give him a knighthood, another superb game.

Greer 8 - Would say El Abd played better, but extra point for bollocking Casper for not collecting an easy ball in his own six yard box, resulting in their fourth corner in a row.

Painter 7 - Much better from him today after some poor performances. Good to see.

Bennett 7 - Busy work, looked much better in the second half after being anonymous for the first 45, superb cut back for the winner.

Sparrow 4 - Brings nothing, get him out the side.

Bridcutt 7 - Great second half, was one of a bad midfield in the first.

Dicker 5 - No luck with him today, rightly subbed at half time.

Noone 6 - He's quick, does a lot of tricks but not much end product today, also a couple of poor touches but certainly promising.

Murray 8 - Quality, sadly I still think he's going this month. We'll see.

Subs:
Wood 6 - Was worth having an extra man up top, didn't really do much in terms of goal threat but caused a nuisance.
Barnes 8 - Clearly had the desired effect, like Wood he got stuck in and assisted and scored a goal.
Kish 6 - Came on to shut off their left back completely by bossing the right hand side by himself, and did it with ease.

Did anyone else see that fantastic piece of skill Noone did by the touch line in the first half? Managed to flick it through this guys legs on the turn at pace. Sublime.

Bridcutt our MOM.
Ankergren could easily have left the shot he put out for the corner that led to their goal.
Don't see Wood as a long term prospect. He's too static, and for a big bloke he has trouble leaving the ground for a header.A watcher rather than a doer.

Good game, though IF we go to Exeter again, can we go when it's warmer.
Our lot by me were making plenty of noise, btw, but we were stood on a terrace narrower than the platform at Fishersgate, backed by makeshift fencing that made the place look like a building site, but without those nice warming braziers.I recall that last season those of us who went and stood in the freezing rain were similarly accused of being off song. But if you were there I expect your tonsils are as sore as mine are. It's easy to criticise when you're at home in the warm.

how can you not give tanno 7? some lovely play offs, yes maybe not in calde's fitness league but what a replacement, can not remember a bad ball and was class when had the ball, as for kish? why on earth is he not starting..cos we are top of the league! I'm surprised there is not a separate thread for tanno, a quality signing for nothing!

It's morons like you who shout "get on with it" and "don't go backwards", I would presume. It's possession football. It wears the other team out and gets their fans on their back, and gives him time to weigh up his options...

Unbelievable some people are still complaining about this. Against Orient there was a cross/corner where Casper had to punch it. It was DEFINITELY the right decision at the time as he was at fullstretch and catching probably would have meant he'd have dropped it on landing. Yet a large number of thickets at the top of H block didn't seem to understand this so had a go at him anyway.

Err, no. I often tell people to be quiet when they moan about passing back to the keeper, but nice assumption. Maybe it's 'morons' like me who actually take pride in being top of the league, and find it quite embarrassing that in the first minute of a football match against a team much lower down the table than we are, we are attempting to waste time!

GRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's not wasting time. How many times does this need to be explained? Gus has explained this - many people on NSC have done so - why is it so hard to follow?

If an attacker is forced to come forward to make Caspar play the ball then we are one man up in the outfield. It opens up spaces for us. So sometimes Caspar will keep the ball at his feet to force an attacker to come forward - thus creating space and a man advantage. It's not time wasting - it's GENIUS.

Against Charlton, Caspar did this so well at one point, and with such nerve, that he got a standing ovation from C block and others. Please try to understand this - it's been a critical part of our approach all season.

Am I the only person that thought Bridcutt was awful in the first half? But more than made up for it in the 2nd ?
