Brighton
Ryan 4 - Should have saved the goal and his lack of command of the six yard box at corners made for uncomfortable viewing

Montoya 7 - Kept Zaha quiet
Dunk 6 - Lost Ayew for goal but should have scored but for luck's intervention
Webster 5
Burn 7 - As Montoya

Propper 5 - A usual Propper performance. 50% good 50% terrible mixed bag. His lack of bite in the tackle cost us including for the goal.
Bissouma 6
Mooy 6 - Not as good as he can be but heavily involved and create bits and bobs

March 6 - Terrible miss but was creating chances. Unfortunately always seems to make the wrong decision in the final third
Maupay 6 - One of those bad luck days we could do without because no-one else knows where the back of the net is.
Trossard 6 - Excellent assist for March's sitter but inconsistent

Subs;
Murray 4 - This U-turn on his selection has back fired and cost us .
Jahanbakhsh 5
Alzate N/A but wish he was picked to start

Potter - terrible timing of first sub just when we were gaining momentum and dominance

Ref - Typical performance in the Premier League. Favours the opposition. How Zaha didn't get booked for spitting and laying a hand on Schelotto I don't know. Well I can guess, I don't think we're liked by the officials.

Luck - shit again, week in week out.

Ryan - 4. Little to do but what he did do he did badly.

Montoya - 5. One of the better players for us today.
Dunk - 8. Good game.
Webster - 5 not as bad as his other games recently but a long way off what someone of his value should be showing
Burn - 4 seems to be one of the consistent starters but should have been dropped weeks ago. Offers nothing in that position. How he is picked over Bernardo is a total mystery.

Mooy - 5 poor again
Proper - 7 not his best game but he’s playing out of position too
Bissouma 8 MoM. At least he tried to make something happen.

March - 5 no confidence for a couple of seasons now. He’s in the wrong league I’m afraid.
Trossard - 6 not happening for him. Too lightweight and shouldn’t have started.

Maupay 7 Tries hard but, again, may be playing a league above his level.

Ali J - ffs give him a start Potter
Alzate - as above
Murray - tried and tired

Manager 2 - a totally wrong starting 11 set the tone for the day. Bernardo, Ali J and Mac Allister have to start and then be given time to flourish by bed in and cement their spots instead of this clueless tinkering.

I just dont do the "we lost so everything and everyone is shit" or the "we won so everyone should be turned into a statue" stuff.

We've won 6 games all season. Everything is pretty bloody shit at the moment - we can't win for love nor money ffs

Ryan 6

Montoya 4
Webster 4
Dunk 7 - imperious,, saving his team-mates countless times with interceptions.
Burn 4

Propper 5 - a typical defensive midfield error from him, gifted them the winner
Bissouma 6.5
Mooy 2 - shocker. Too many touches, indecisive, killed our attacks, looked tiny against proper athletes.
March 6 - tenacious, helped drive us forward, a shame goals aren’t in his PL locker.
Trossard 2 - did he play? Weak, lost every 50:50

Maupay 4 - poor passing, he only had to bury a dead centre sitter.

Murray 5
Other subs - it seemed a bit to late to impress, as CP time wasted the clock down.

Potter 2. Almost hilariously didn’t play Stephens, Bernardo, and Alzate, he played Montoya, and took off March when Mooy/Trossard had stunk the stadium out.

Gutted.

Ryan 4 - Poor distribution. Had one real save to make and fluffed it. I’ve said this since the summer - we need a new no 1, he’s not commanding or dominant enough for this league.

Montoya 6 - Steady and played well, I was surprised he went off.
Webster 6 - I thought he played well.
Dunk 7 - A leader, unlucky not to score.
Burn 6 - Defended well, just can’t cross a ball.

Bissouma 7 - My motm, the only one in the midfield with any drive. An absolute travesty he was subbed and I thought it weakened us. Must be given a run now.
Propper 5 - Not terrible but very sloppy, tackled as well as Stephens can.
Mooy 5 - Tried hard but nothing came off for him. The match sponsors need escorting to a quiet room.

Trossard 3 - Little boy lost, AGAIN.
Maupay 6 - Worked very hard, I like his anger too but he’s there to score goals and he fluffed it, would have been an 8, motm and 3 points to us had he done that job.
March 6 - Actually played well apart from that awful miss which changed the game IMO. I’m not convinced he’s EPL quality sadly.

Murray 5 - we’ve extended his contract, seriously.
Ali J 6 - decent when he came on.
Alzate 6 - I really like him, same as Bissouma Potter has to give him more minutes.

Potter 4 - Mainly for a strange looking bench and poor subs. No Connolly meant very limited options if we were chasing, as it proved. I thought he got the subs wrong, Bissouma and March off yet Mooy and Trossard stayed on was bizarre bordering on incompetence.

Palace - 7 years in the EPL and that’s ‘it’? I thought they were shite and there for the taking, more shame on us.

Still in Brighton
Just how I saw things:

Ryan 5 - Was worried every corner as he's so static on his line but Palace didn't cause an issue. Would like to see the goal again. Don't have confidence he'll ever stop a 1:1.
Montoya 5 - On the positive he did get in some good forward positions. But didn't put in one decent ball?. His first touch was awful a times. Did do ok against Zaha though.
Dunk 6 - solid. Again will have to see the goal again. Couple of good long balls as usual.
Webster 6 - as above, seemed less nervous to me which was good. Didn't roam forward much and few good forward passes.
Burn 7 - probably our best defender and our most creative defender. He does get a reasonable ball into the box, just not any great ones. Did well with Zaha.
Propper 6 - played deep but I thought his passing was the most accurate of all the midfielders. Still looks classy and should be more forward imo.
Bissouma 5 - very poor first half, better second. So sloppy though. Frequently loses possession easily and puts us under pressure. He isn't progressing with us. Also he can shoot all day but he'll never score.
Mooy 5 - did have a lot of the ball and didn't hide. Just that he is well off form. Slow.
March 6 - got a lot of gip from the crowd but defensively strong and although his shots were weak at least most were on target and he gets into a position to have them.
Maupay 6 - looked very frustrated and it showed in his play. A paradox. His effort and harrying is brilliant,he does some good stuff and then some bloody awful stuff. Couldn't shoot for shit today.
Trossard 6 - mostly quiet and anonymous but one excellent effort and one superb cross marks him up as they were better than anything anyone else did.

Subs;
Murray 4 - back to looking slow, flat footed and out of form. I wanted him on and then regretted it.
Jahanbakhsh 7 - put in some excellent whipped low crosses - unfortunately we didn't have anyone anywhere near them - who's fault? He continues to look lively and should either start on come on at 60 minutes not so late.
Alzate 5 - anonymous today

I’m assuming you’re talking about Zaha? Forgive me, but he did absolutely fûck all today, Montoya and Pröpper has him under control the whole game, the only time he looked like doing anything was when we poured forward looking for an equaliser, and SEGW still couldn’t score.

Seemed to play a bit deeper today and was very disciplined. Even played his part as pantomime villain. If we have Propper locked into covering him, that immediately is advantage Palace. I’m not here to defend him but just wish we had his quality.

Ryan 5 - had to do one thing and didn’t
Montoya 5 - I’m not a hater but no precision
Webster 5 - no confidence
Dunk 5 - poor for the goal
Burn 6 - not a LB but he outperforms, wish he’d get picked in his real position of CB
Mooy 5 - different player to earlier this season, what’s going on?
Bissouma 6 - fair play he looks to create but end product not quite there
Pröpper 6 - solid but uninspired
March 7 - obviously fluffed the chance but otherwise our best player
Trossard 6 - set up March beautifully but another not hitting his best form
Maupay 6 - very good first half but faded a bit afterwards
Ali J 6 - Our only player who looks like he will cross the ball properly
Murray 4 - it’s over for this club legend
Alzate 6 - decent touches as ever

Potter 5 - don’t see a consistent plan to win games

I had a bet on the SEGW to score the last goal. 15-2 seemed a very big price considering he has scored last in three of the last seven encounters. I was delighted to see the prick hit the post though. Summed up what was probably his worst performance against us since the first leg of the play offs.

Mooy had a shocker. Lots of merriment around us when he was made MOTM. I am usually very positive but the insipid display today, involving much giving the ball away, being easily brushed off the ball and lamentable finishing has left me pretty fed up.
A part of me wants to get this over with and start afresh in a league in which we can compete.

Spot on about Mooy. Since he got the contract he's just looked so lethargic and is way too easily dispossessed. Never mind the supposed 24 shots this game hinged on two. Solly has to hit his shot to the far post and Maupay has all the goal to aim at and hits it at the keeper's chest. You have to take those gilt edged chances at this level.

Not such a bad performance but too often too slow in build up
All 6 with following exceptions
Propper 5, too negative, too many misplaced passes, needs a rest
Bissouma 7, always looking forward, trying to make things happen. Has to start again next week....
Mooy 4, didn’t play first half, good second, but we can’t carry anyone atm
Trossard 5, didn’t do much
Potter 4, struggling, needs to select with more consistency, trying to be too clever

Agree with this.

Trossard is like a fancy box, but when you open it up there’s **** all inside.
Ryan is a massive weak link.

So Maupay stops a goal and backpasses to the Palace keeper but because he runs about a bit gets 6s and 7s.

Ridiculous.

I’m with you on the scoring of Mooy despite some people thinking he got MoM but I’m worried no one else can see it?

Not been the same since he went permanent but at least we have Argentina’s next No.10 lined up to take his place.

Potter: It’s time for a reality check for Mooy - omit for next game.

Harsh ratings all round. I thought we played well, limited them to very few chances but didn’t get the run of the green or take any of our better chances. On another day we might have won comfortably on that display.

Don’t worry, in the match thread many posters thought he had a shocker, with Trossard.
