Star performances from Bridcutt, Hammond and KLL (for his time on)

Most of the rest put in a great shift

Dobbie bringing up the rear

I reckon Bridcutt will be Captain next year ... Gus defo does all the talking to him and he's so calm and assured ... we'd really struggle without him

Agree completely. We need to hang on to him in January but some people say he's too 'small' for the Premiership!

They said on the radio when Dobbie came off there was no acknowledgement, no handshake, pat on the back etc. Was Gus hacked off with his performance?

Probably, he bottled every tackle and missed a few very good chances.

I don't normally get involved in all the negative stuff that appears on here after games, but I'm going to have to make an exception because I thought Will Buckley had what was easily his worst game for us. To be fair the last five or ten minutes he did start getting by his tired full back, but the number of miss placed passes, the hands on hips, wandering into the middle and the woeful shot high and wide. I couldn't believed Gus left him on the whole game.

Interesting to read above that no one else seemd to think the same. Not that bothered. Also know that all players have off day (Ex. #26) and that he will be MOM again soon.

Hope I'm wrong but think Bridders will be gone by the start of next season, fantastic talent imo

Agree we need to hang on to him but those in the football know realise what a fantastic player he is. Imo he is very strong for size & can actually head the f***ing thing unlike some of ours. As mentioned before, hope I'm wrong but think he will be playing in the Prem by next August!

Surely the pressure is on for Greer by now?

You know, I think it may be. I've always been a fan of big Gordy but apart from popping up with the occasional vital goal-line clearance, I don't think he's bossed the defence as well in recent games as he used to.

And I think at least some of the goals we've conceded have been because he's been caught out positionally, or not kept hold of his man. Except against Palace, of course, when his full-blooded shove on Murray for their second pen was one of the dafter ones we've conceded.

Today, he missed a golden chance to equalize in the first half, sprayed a few too many aimless long balls and failed to pick out the simple pass forwards on too many occasions.

So I think he'd be due a bench-warming afternoon, apart from him being skipper.

PS Much as I love our passing game, it would be nice now and again to have a tall defender who actually poses a threat with his head from corners and set-pieces. Or am I too old fashioned?

The commentators seemed to think he was carrying an injury he apparently kept going over to chat with Gus and someone from the medical team

Dobbie was an obvious disappointment today, his lackadaisacality uncomfortable to witness when his shooting boots aren't on. I hope he starts to find pleasure in what we get up to. And puts a real innings in of wanting to be involved and looking to get the frig in there.
Hoskins i found generally unreliable too. His darts of pace were unnoticed throughout and was muscled out of possession a number of times in the first half. In the second half when a clearly coming back from injury mostly unfit Bridge had the ball and nowhere to play it, he failed to show himself, twice. In spite of being on the same wing. Ok he hasn't been playing all that regularly, but i did not see the class some seem to spot in him. All the play went through Buckley as an attacking force and although he misplaced a shot i'd liked to have seen him finish and spooned a cross over the bar, he was the out and out star with Bruno behind him. And Bridders a titan in the middle to the end.
Greer i thought put in a good performance too whilst El Abd won no headers against the almighty Hulse and had a tough time of it.

He might be the Club Captain but I've been disappointed with Greer's form this season. I don't think I'm the only one who feels uneasy when the opposition put him under pressure, whereas I generally enjoy watching El Abd who often looks so assured. Maybe Greer has also been fortunate to have Bruno, Bridge, El Abd and Bridders around him. Punters point to us having the 'tightest defence in the Championship' but lately we haven't looked that invincible at the back. Greer has looked slow on the ground and gets beaten a bit too often in the air.

If Dunk showed decent consistency (and wasn't suspended) he might have put Greer under pressure for his place, but then this doesn't look like happening anytime soon, so Greer looks safe for now.

Buckley got plenty of the ball, but did very little with it. Maybe Charlton just knew how to play him? I thought it was his poorest game for a while but still looked ok.

To be fair, I did say that I thought Buckley had a poor game, especially in the 2nd half his touch was very poor and he looked tired/carrying a knock? That said I did think he threatened in the 1st half, but the chance in the 2nd half I was expecting him to put away.

Added to that was the glorious opportunity he had to take the lead in the second half which he screwed wide - but had the three great chances that Dobbie had or Greer's earlier in the game fallen to somebody else we could have won by 3 or 4

I hope Gus is looking at a new CB, even on loan, in January. We need someone who is comfortable with the ball at his feet and actually challenges big target men for headers.

Agreed. We'll get a decent payout for him but he's crucial to our system so he'll be a big loss if he leaves.

Not when he can jump higher than anyone else in our side!

It's difficult to know how we hang on to him ... there'll be some big money waved under Blooms nose that's for sure
