May well bein the minority but I don't understand how must of you give Upson a higher mark than Greer? GG hardly put a foot wrong whilst Upson almost scores a ridiculous own goal and placed at least 3 passes directly into the east stand under little pressure. Just don't get the Greer haters.

Hardly put a foot wrong? His passing as terrible at times, especially in the first half. Played it too far ahead of calderon and out of play, played it straight to one of their players, played it to one of ours (buckley, possible) while a palace players was right on him, heavy pass back to Kuszczak, played a ball to lopez when it was clear he didn't want it at that time and wasn't ready fr it. GG made plenty of mistakes himself. lost count of the number of times fans were given cause to tell him to wake up.

Kuszczak- 8.5 Made some good saves, didn’t have to deal with too much pressure.
Calderon- 7.5 Outpaced at times, but was up for it and showed passion.
Upson- 9 Won everything in the air, had Murrary in his pocket.
Greer- 9 Won everything in the air, had Murrary in his pocket
Bridge-9.9 Quality today, beat Zaha to everything, made him look poor. WORLD CLASS!
Buckley- 8 Nearly back to his best, worked hard, and won us a lot of fouls
Bridcutt -10 Beat Williams 9 times out of 10, used his strength agsaint a strong midfield
Lopez-10 Played with flair. Awesome Free Kick!
LuaLua- 9 Put in a great shift, got stuck in, was great going forward
Orlandi- 7.5 Played well, needs to be more vital in the box
Ulluah- 10 Scored Twice, held it up awesomley, turning out to be a awesome signing

Kuszcak 8.5 - would have been a 7 since he had so little to do, gets an extra .5 for stopping an own goal first half, and one point for celebrating the third goal in front of the place fans
Calderon 8.5
Greer 6.5 - terrible passing first half.
Upson 6.5 - an errant pass, almost an own goal
Bridge 9 - great forward runs, and at times in the second half had the experience to hold on to the ball and give us time to regain composure.
Bridcutt 8.5
Orlandi 8.5
Lopez 9
Lualua 8.5 - actually used his pace a bit
Buckley 8 - seems to lack confidence in the box at the moment, but good cross for the first goal
Ulloa 9 - first may have been untidy, but he got it in, won the free kick for the second, scored the first.

Crofts 7.5 - solid
Hammond not on long enough but showed some composure and strength when first on to help see the game out

First half I thought we got a little lucky. We had t first ten minutes, but then palace seemed to take control. They had one or two dangerous chances, and I'm not sure we'd have complaints if the had scored. Defensively we were out of sorts, and it's weird to say that when we've kept a clean sheet, but passing was awful both in choice and execution, and we backed off too much, and we have no idea of offsides. At one point greer pushed everyone up to make two palace players offside, then instantly dropped back to play them on. I've marked Upson and Greer low because I thought that first half was bad, but, I hope it's ore just about not having played together, and greer not having featured for a few weeks.

Given how loud they were before the game, palace fans were rather quiet during the game, even when they were on top.

Kuszczak - 8. Sublime save to prevent an own goal, solid but untroubled for the rest of the game.

Calderon - 7.5. Had a slightly wayward first half but really got into it in the second.
Upson - 8.5. Had Murray in his pocket today.
Greer - 8. A calm, solid performance.
Bridge - 9. MOTM. Probably the best defensive performance I've ever seen from an Albion player. Zaha who?

Bridcutt - 8.5. The usual. Controlled the game especially in the second half. Great ball in to Orlandi for the third.
Lopez - 8.5. Probably the best free kick I've ever seen in person, and a good all-round display.
Orlandi - 7.5. Not one of his best performances but unlucky not to score with that backheel flick and a great cushioned header for Ulloa's second.

Buckley - 8. Much better today, gave their full-backs a bit of a run-around and won the free-kick for Spanish Dave's wondergoal.
Lualua - 9. Probably his best performance for us where he hasn't scored. Definite contender for MOTM today. Some great tackles too!
Ulloa - 9. What an acquisition he's turning out to be. I bloody love him. Two great goals today, especially the second.

----------

Crofts - 7. Looked pretty good when he came on.
Hammond - n/a. Not enough time.

Gus - 10. Did nothing wrong. Perfect team selection and tactics.

I thought Williams had a pretty decent game for them until he strangely got taken off. Holloway got the tactics a bit wrong today.
Zaha may have beaten loads of our players but I think that was all part of our tactics - if you don't try and tackle him he can't be fouled, just try and shepherd him away from the box and wait until he loses the ball. Some neat footwork but got nowhere.

Not the day to criticise any of our players. A minimum of 7 for all of them but special mentions for Ulloa for finally giving us real threat in the opposition box; for Bridge for giving a truly experienced professional's performance at fullback ( and to a lightly easer extent, Upson) and to Lua Lua who showed he can play a full ninety minutes and still be a threat at the end! And finally, the absence of El Abd meant we didn't spend half the game waiting for him to give away a penalty!

Kuz 7.5 - Solid, good save from Upsons header
Bridge 9 - Quality all game ,gave his all until the 92nd minute, amazing for a loan player.
Upson 7 - Solid
Greer 6.5 - Not bad, didnt win many headers and misplaced a few passes, shouted as his team mates for no reason, needs to be replaced in the summer
Calde - 8 - Very good game from Calde, covered a lot of ground
Bridders 7.5 - Played well
Orlandi 6.5 - Not his best game, but done his part for the team
Lopez 8 - Was very good again, nice free kick
Lua Lua 9 - Run them ragged, won lots of tackles
Buckley 7.5 - Still looks down on confidence but set up the first goal
Ulloa 9.5 - Love this man

Usual NSC weirdness of marking down the goalkeeper because he didn't have much to do. Start him at a ten and remove marks for mistakes. On that basis perfect ten.

Superb punch away from the corner with Murray lurching at the back post.

I am not, it's his attitude and his lack of aerial presence that marks him down in my mind.

Even today, or was your rated based on your long term technical rating of Greer?

He may have the odd poor game, but I've not heard the club captain's attitude questioned before.

So if we beat Carshalton in the FA cup 7-0 and our keeper didn't touch the ball once, you would mark him as a ten?

Gus was a 10.

He didn't listen to the NSC obsessives that we must always play with 2 out and out strikers, unlike almost everyone in the top 2 flights, which invariably leads to be losing the CM battle.

And he almost certainly shocked Holloway by playing 2 offensive wide men, so that we carried a threat too, and our plan was NOT based all about stopping them.

Agree, GG had an excellent game today, which included surprisingly for some on here, 'many' terrific defensive headers.
Whilst I do very much appreciate the input of MU (and whilst his back header was almost the OG of the season), he too did a great job and I am happy that we had an excellent result.

Perhaps I will post my own thoughts later !

Sensible post. You know exactly what I mean. The oddness of the goalkeeping marks means he can only be marked up through the mistakes of another in the team.

I stand by the point. Start the goalkeeper at ten and remove marks for mistakes !
