On reflection I think our weakest link yesterday was G-Pott - 5

I believe Leicester's side was unchanged for the 5th game running.
Our starting XI only had 4 out on international duty, 1 of which was Ryan and Duffy doesn't need training to do what he does.
So 2 weeks to prepare and yet he gave the impression he only worked at half-time.

Whatever magic he worked then, should have been how we started before moving onto plans B & C.

Still he's got a chance to change that, next week!

Actually I thought that ball didn't quite have enough pace on it, which meant he had to wait a little longer than ideal. That defender was quality though, it had to be said.

Not too much to add to what has been said. March was proper rubbish though - he looked like he wanted to just get through the game doing the basics and not much more. Disappointing for him as I'll be amazed if he gets back in the team next week

I was calling for March to come back in to combat Leicester's pace on the wings, but I'm rapidly coming to the conclusion that he's never going to take that final step. All you hear from the club is how there's 'so much more to come' from March, but how long do we have to wait? His evident lack of confidence when the ball is passed to him suggests that he feels the same.

I agree. Potter has had plenty of praise but yesterday tactics very poor. Has known for 2 weeks there team and how they would play. Time and time again they broke leaving Vardy and Barnes against 2. defenders. Dangerous attacks came from our corners and free kicks. Many times 2 standing round ball to take kick when one could have been used to defend against a break. Nothing was a surprise from them. Why couldnt 2 players be allocated at our set plays to watch Barnes and Vardy breaking.
Even had somebody near us joking when we had a free kick that Leicester were in a dangerous position

Good post.

He was dire yesterday and their first goal was largely down to him and his lazy flick that lost possession, as he was caught flat-footed.

However, until yesterday, I have felt a little sorry for him, was playing steady if unspectacular prior to his injury. Lost his place to arguably a more intelligent player in Alzate, and has then struggled to pick up the pace when coming off the bench.

Yesterday was an opportunity for him, and one superb cross apart, IMO he failed.

He clearly needs games, but it very difficult for him at the moment.

Giving managers ratings on a game-by-game basis always fascinates me. It implies you are either

1. rating his performance on the sideline. I.e. "Potter 5 - rain failed his haircut today but did well in the 20 minutes where it didnt rain"

2. rating his performance in choosing players & tactics. This means you must have a) knowledge about the physical/mental status of every player and b) been present when tactical instructions were given to the team.

Alternatively re point 2, perhaps as the paying public attending the game and watching the game as it progresses, the tactics are clear?

Potter changes his formations several times during a game (which IMO is a positive). However, when you need to do it after 10-15 minutes, it would suggest either:

- you’ve been out-thought by the opposition
- your preparation/assumptions have been wrong
- the players are not working to instruction, therefore either change them or get in their ear (he did neither yesterday, that I could see).
- your selection is wrong to begin with.

This is not aimed at Potter but your second point, which I don’t agree with.

I would also add, I actually agreed with the selection yesterday, so my rating would have been low too [emoji2].....

I don’t like three CB’s though......

Edit - Leicester were excellent which didn’t help either.

Were you at the game? Propper deserves 1 just for getting his shirt on right. Absolutely dire.

Were you at the game?

Bad error on penalty but arguably the best outfield player

I thought he had a very poor game. He made a number of sloppy mistakes which put us under pressure. Not a good day at the office.

I agree with most of that and also do not like 3 CBs for us as I do not think that we have the players confident to play it. Dunk can, Webster I am not sure about his defensive ability and other than a couple of games early season Burn has been a disaster waiting to happen. This wasnt helped by Duffy, who I rate, coming in and having probably his worst ever game for us. I think GP should hold his hands up and say he was out thought by Brendan Rogers.

It really says something when the omission of two teenagers (and, admittedly, our captain) results in such a poor showing from the team.

We didnt miss Alzate as his stand in Mooy was more than adequate and one of our better players and I dont think that Connolly would have had any more joy from Soyuncu who was superb and very quick, the big miss was Dunk. So I do not agree with your assessment.

All of this apart from Potter who i score a 3.
Another person who cannot see Potters awful tactics and is caught up in Potterball. The penny will drop for the majority on here soon.

And another sad cry for attention from the troll here ^

Ban this sad little man mods.

For me March, Propper, Stephens and Trossard all underperformed - score 5 at best. Maybe due to the quality of Leicester, maybe just bad days, although Solly doesn’t have enough good days IMHO.
I’m a bit nervous about our forwards scoring ratio too (Maupay 6)! On the plus side I thought Mooy was excellent (8) Burn and Montoya decent (7), and of course MoM Ryan outstanding (9). Others 6

Most think Mooy one of our best players yesterday...Am I the only one who thought Mooy, and he was playing near to me WSL towards South in the first half looked slowed and disinterested.

Ryan 7 Couple of good saves but needs to kick it more often to relieve the pressure

I imagine he is under express instructions not to do this.

Well, at least one of them is on loan at Leeds. 3CBs also need two good wingbacks protecting them. Montoya isn't great defensively and March had a stinker yesterday. Bernardo would be a much better option but is injured. Potter pbviously doesn't fancy Bong. In fact, tellingly, the two players most villified on NSC last season, Bong and Jahanbaksh don't seem to be in his plans at all.

A flat back 4 of Montoya, Duffy, Webster, Burn would not have been any better yesterday, and could even have been worse. A back "5" of New Right Wing Back, Webster, Dunk, White or Burn, Bernardo looks decent but we'll have to wait a couple of windows.

Dunk will be back for Liverpool and I'd be tempted to play Alzate at LWB and replace Duffy with Dunk. This allows Mooy to keep his place.

Ryan was our best player yesterday. As I said on the match thread we lost every individual battle out there with Leicester having more pace, better application of strength and a much better first touch on a greasy surface.

I agree with all of this

Although I think there may be an element of the Monkeys/Typewriters/Shakespeare thing
