I thought there were too many backward passes from Gross and some of his deliveries were poor. Maca played the second best cross of the game and showed how we should do it more often as it created the best chance in second half .

I thought White was out of position for first goal but might be wrong rest of his game he was sound.

Surely Izzy should have come on if he is fit enough to be sub...

On the NBC stream I watched Lee Dixon said that White was at fault for the goal as he shouldnt have been on the line but should have been marking the goal scorer.

Only the one Cruyff turn for Gross tonight - well short of his average half dozen.

Sanchez 7 - a proper keeper, safe hands, another very good game.

White 7 - not overawed, didn’t or couldn’t get up the pitch enough though.
Dunk 8 - outstanding, total leader, didn’t give Cavani a kick.
Veltman 5 - sadly this was his worst showing in a Brighton shirt, cost us the match.

Gross 5 - not a RWB, if he was I’d have scored him a 3. Just too negative and his crossing is inconsistent at best.
Moder 6 - a 7 first half and a 5 second. Faded, possibly understandably, Potter should have changed him earlier.

Bissouma 7 - an 8 first half and a 6 second. He looked better than Pogba.
Lallana 7 - was close to a 9 first half as he ran it, faded second but didn’t help that the entire team seemed to go so negative in the second half and sat 20 yards deeper.
Trossard 6 - not his night, did ‘OK’, the next challenge for him is to turn in 7 and 8 performances on a more consistent basis.

Maupay 7 - didn’t stop. Neat, tidy and positive. Great cross. Note to Potter never play him as a lone striker ever again, he is so much better with a partner.
Welbeck 7.5 - very good first half, suffered like Maupay with the team dropping off. Took his goal very welland won a penalty.

Mac 7 - great ball to Maupay, I love his general positivity.
Ali J and Zeqiri N/A - but again why persist with bringing on Ali J when we’re chasing a game? He offers nothing. Please god get rid this summer, disastrous signing.

Potter 6 - set up well, whatever was said at HT was either ignored, didn’t work or was plain wrong. He needs to start using his subs better, it never seems to be proactive subs, always reactive and always waits too long. Izzy has made the bench for about 6 weeks now, what’s the point though?

Dean 4 - inconsistent, homer, big team, incompetent prick. I’ve not typed ‘corrupt’ because if I truly thought that then football is dead, I think he’s just an absolutely shit ref.

What is the point of VAR now? It’s a shambles. How is it ‘OK’ to change the rules mid-season? If you mess with VAR interpretation then you’re changing the rules.

Sanchez - 8 - Impeccable handling and passing from the floor. Unbelievably reliable, given his lack of top level experience
Veltman - 7 - Ungainly hoof for their goal. Our worst player, but still pretty good
Dunk - 9 - Stunning performance from our captain
White - 8 - Unlucky not to clear off the line. His commitment to get up and back was terrific
Moder - 7 - Very nice first half and another lovely gifworthy backheel
Bissouma - 8 - Brimming with confidence. Carries, passes tackles. All round CM
Lallana - 9 - MOM - silky, sexy and sumptuous. His passing I mean. Wonderful first half
Trossard - 7 - Linked the play very well first half. Faded quite a bit and had to be subbed.
Maupay - 9 - Brilliant hold up play and assist
Welbeck - 8 - His reaction times haven't dulled. Brilliantly gobbled the rebound. Impressive movement. It's a pen. He got goalside.

MacAllister - 7 - A few loose passes, but one brilliant one

Incredible first half. The fact we got pushed back in the second isn't tactical, isn't tiredness, isn't mindset. It's that Man U have brilliant players like Rashford

Those marks are too high for a team that let a lead slip and were too passive in the second half. The first half was very good but its about 90 minutes. You have rated Veltman's performance as good. He gifted United a passage back into a game where they were struggling and had his worst game for us by some way. As another poster said, these marks are all a point a man too many and far too generous.
