Sanchez - 6 - Nothing to do. Dunk saved him at the end.
Veltman - 7 - Always good.
Dunk - 7 - Captain's performance - back to his best
Webster - 6 - Not as good on the left, but still solid
White - 6 - Decent
March - 8 -MOTM - better defensively as well as a standard performance going forward
Bissouma - 7 - Bossed it again
Gross - 7 - tired late on but very good up to then
MacAllister - 7 - Getting up to speed at this level. extra point for the flick assist  for Maupay's howler in the second half
Trossard - 5 - I feel really sorry for leo,, but have to mark him down for the first half miss (actually a very good save) bit further to the left and the 3 points are ours.
Maupay - 5- Good to see him take the shot first time from MacAllister's flick assist  but he still missed it.. some progress I suppose.
Propper - N/A - Oddest sub ever.. Tau/Connolly/Lallana?? nope. Davy P! added nothing (well what exactly was he going to do? Shore up a midfield that we'd been bossing all night?

Potter 8 for setting the team up. 0 for not accepting we really needed to make some changes and add something different, to actually score.

Sanchez - 6 - nothing to do.

White - 6 - Some great runs especially 1st half and a couple of decent interceptions, on the minus side concentration levels are poor at times.
Dunk - 7.5 - Eventful. Missed a very good chance and saved a certain goal. Comfortable until Mitrovic came on really struggled from there
Webster - 7 - Some good runs forward.

Veltman - 6 - Solid.
Bissouma - 8 - Ran the game
Gross - 7.5 - Controlled midfield with Biss linked with the forwards well.
March - 7.5 - Had the beating of the full back time after time but his final ball...

Mac Allister - 7.5 - Some great work in and around the box, starting to look the part at this level.
Maupay - 7 - Oh where to start? I actually thought he had a great game overall, led the line well and never gave them a moments peace. But he had one brilliant and one good chance and didn't take either so frustrating...
Trossard - 5 - Seems unfair to heap the blame onto one player but he had two absolute sitters at this level and not only did he not take them he never looked like he was going to score either time. He is not, nor ever will be a striker, his movement is wrong, his 1st touch is wrong, the way he receives a ball is wrong. He is a talented if frustrating attacking midfielder, who once turned and with his head up can hurt teams. In front of goal he is terrified to miss, the 1st chance he works the ball to either side of the keeper he scores but he was scared to miss the target by doing so. A confident striker used to goalscoring would've sidefooted that into the corner. The second chance is harder but not much but he takes too long to get the shot off. This is where the recruitment has to take their share of the blame, round peg, square hole...

Propper N/A - Not on long enough to mark.

Potter 8 - Not sure he could do much more. Reluctant to make a sub but we were controlling the game and what striking option did he have? Connolly who even if fit has not played for a while and who's style didn't suit the pressure in the game we were exerting. Mitrovic or someone of his quality plays for us we win that 3-0 and I'm not sure that's Potter's fault.

Sanchez 7 Clean sheet Very little playing out from back so assume was under orders to kick long
Veltman 6 Not a wing back. Cant see point in 3 at back if Lampty not playing
White 6 Several uncomfortable moments.
Dunk 8 Very good
Webster 7 Agree not so comfortable on left
March 6 Outstanding when defending but so predictable when attacking. Please vary game and cut in some times
Gross 6 Assume it was him or McCalister who was doing Lalana role and getting close to forwards. Didnt work
McCalister 6 As Gross
Bissouma 8 Good in defensive role. Too many balls played out wide because of lack of movement from Gross and MaCalister
Trossard 6 Will go against most and say apart from one poor miss played well. Created space and made himself available all the time.
Maupay 4 He is an out and out striker and in this role was poor. Unlike Trossard his awareness of other players around him in better position is very poor.

Although surprised fresh legs didnt come on upfront still think Maupay and Trossard are far better then all on bench and should continue to start. With Bissouma playing in defensive role we have to get a midfielder playing closer to Maupay. We have to hope we can get Lalana fit

How many times have we said this season that batter finishing would have led to a comfortable win? I like your positivity, but the absolute maximum I could give Maupay and Trossard would be a five.

Both of their work outside the box is good. Trossard missed another absolute sitter by Premier League standards, but the difference between them is that Maupay’s job is as our striker, and his goal scoring ability and decision making are shocking.

The three that stand out last night are:

1. His wild blaze over in the second half when he had to score.
2. His decision to shoot from 30 yards in the first half when he had runners in space to his right.
3. His decision to cut back onto his left foot, into loads of defenders, when he again had runners in space to his right. It was similar to his decision against Palace and passed up a clear opportunity to score. He was lucky to win a free kick.

Maybe his finishing ability reflects the relatively little money we paid for him by PL standards, but I was hoping for more from someone who scored 26 Championship goals the season before he joined.

I do get where you are coming from. As said, I based my scores as much on chances created as chances missed.. The weighting of these 2 can make for a large range of scores. At this stage is is truly a matter of opinion..

I'm sure no other PL manager ever made a substitution that anyone disagreed with.

But i'm not sure there have been too many which have been so widely disagreed with

Sanchez 6. Fine
Dunk 7. Brilliant clearance averted disaster. That last minute or so was horrible to watch.
Webster 6. Ball playing defenders is brilliant until they mess up. Defensively did OK
White 5... Can’t be easy getting moved positions so often.
March 7. Good showing
Veltman 6. Looked lacking going forward tonight.
Bissouma 7. Even on a quiet day he looks like one of our best.
Gross 6. Threatened to dominate but faded off in the second half
MacAllister 6. Some of his finest work gets lost as we can’t finish.
Trossard 5. Some nice passes here and there, befitting a £20m Belgium international, but overshadowed by L1 finishing
Maupay 4. Praising Maupay tonight is like saying a porn actor who can’t get it up, has good chat. His job is to finish chances. He consistently doesn’t finish enough of them. He has poor technique.

Potter 7. Same old story. We should have won the game again with the quality of chances created. Finish those chances , and potter is one of the best managers around

Sanchez 7 - not much to do but him being fairly accurate in his long passing provides the team with more options

White 6 - some good passing but also messed up a bit a few times
Dunk 8 - good defending and several good passes
Webster 7 - not as good as in recent games but comfortable defending

Veltman 7 - great defending and great runs but his crosses is not really all that
Bissouma 8 - always playable, plenty of good tackles and nearly impossible to take the ball away from him
Gross 7 - plenty of passes that opened up the defense and good delivery from free kicks
March 7 - good performance on the left, close to 8

Mac Allister 7 - some wonky stuff, some very good stuff

Maupay 7 - good performance, plenty of interceptions, tackles, passes resulting in chances, not very good finishing though
Trossard 6 - very wasteful with both passes and finishing in the first half, better in the second when he dropped down deeper and acted more playmaker

Sanchez 6: Had nothing to do. Third clean sheet in 9 league games. If he maintains a clean sheet every three games we'll stay up.

White 6: Couple of mistakes brought the ball out well on occasion. I'm not fully against the idea that defensive midfield could be his best position...

Dunk 7: Assured. Classic last minute goal line clearance.

Webster 6: Did ok but not up to the high standards he's set this season. Looks much better on the right side of the three. It's a conundrum for Potter to sort out. Is white on the right and Webster on the left better than Webster on the right and Burn on the left. I think it is but I'd like to see us get a better option for the left and have Webster and White fight it out for the right.

Veltman 6: Solid defensively but a little Montoya-esque going forward today. This was a game where we really could have done with Lamptey's pace.

March 7: Solid in defense, provided good width and presence going forward.

Bissouma 7: Fine. Didn't have too much hard stuff to do.

Gross 6.5: Decent enough.

Ally Mac 7: I'm really liking the look of him at the moment. We've got to get him on the ball as much as possible while his form is this good.

Maupay 6: Some good work, must be a nightmare to play against other than...just bloody score!!!! I was hoping his goal at Leeds would have brought back his confidence but when he's in front of goal he looks bereft at the moment. We really need him to snap out of it as his forward play with Ally Mac and Trossard looks really good.

Trossard 6: Similar to Maupay. some lovely touches, good creative and link up play but...just bloody score!!!!

Propper n/a: not on long enough.

"Third clean sheet in 9 league games. If he maintains a clean sheet every three games we'll stay up."
If you think about that it means we would get a 0-0 every 3rd game and lose the other two, as we would concede in them.

Of course this is based on the assumption that our goal scoring remain as pathetic as last night.

Nope you are probably right, changing a midfielder for another midfielder in some random 0-0 game is probably one of the most upsetting substitutions in the 8000+ game history of the PL. Its up there with the Ali Dia for Matt le Tiss sub.

Not a random 0-0 game to Brighton supporters. That was our ticket out of danger

I totally agree. To be honest I don’t really disagree with any of what you said. My frustration is more due to the consistent failure to convert chances that would have seen us comfortably mid table.

Consider for a minute (if you can) that we had Harry Kane up front. How many goals would he have scored for us this year? More than he’s scored for Tottenham possibly? And we’re fourth bottom!

Clearly we can’t attract players of that quality and we are where we are because of that, but it frustrates me that we’ve got the best squad we’ve possibly ever had, and we don’t seem to be fulfilling our potential in terms of points.

Yup.. re Harry Kane, I had a similar conversation with my Dad, saying the same thing.. A top, top striker would really make a difference, you only need to look at our xG ratings every game.. We would have to break our pay structure and it would be a large risk.. Hypothetically, say we signed Diego Costa at 200k per week, he would need a few weeks to get match fit and then we would need to hope that he didnt get injured... If he hit the ground running and avoided injury, you have to think 10-15 goals could be possible with the chances we create.. There are a lot of ifs in there and I am not sure DC would be the answer, but I think someone of his ilk and quality could turn us into a top 10 team

Well, quite.

But not scoring again all season is not even remotely realistic, six clean sheets in the next 18 is. So, with that in mind Sanchez maintaining his current clean sheets to games played ratio will keep us up.

Sanchez 6.5: Quiet but some poor distribution on occasions.

White 6.5: Couple of mistakes bringing the ball out but handled Fulham's principal threat well.

Dunk 7: Untested until the final minutes. Clearance critical

Webster 6.5: Similar to White, an error or two bringing the ball out but nullified Fulham effectively.

Veltman 6.5: Some very smart play at times, showing his experience, nous and alertness to opportunities. Offers a better defensive side to Lamptey but not close to the attacking threat.

March 6.5: Solid in defense, but was dealt with well by Fulham. Doesn't fancy it on his right at all which makes him easy to nullify.

Bissouma 6.5: Lots of work defensively but didn't dominate or offer a lot going forward as Fulham stacked the middle

Gross 6.5: See Bissouma

Ally Mac 7: Again lots of work, a couple of sublime passes, should have had an assist

Maupay 6.5: Work hard and pleased to see instinctive shooting, much better over the last few games but should have scored

Trossard 6.5: Better ball retention and some nice skill to create chances, should have scored

Propper 6: not on long enough.

Subs:

I though Potter got it right in delaying subs as we had the measure of Fulham and were dominant. Perhaps it was too early for Connolly or Lallana after injury and he clearly doesn't trust Tau or Zeqiri to see out a game (given recent experience) Gross was also flagging and again probably not the right time to introduce Moder, hence Propper.

Pretty much agree with all your scores and comments, especially about the subs situation. Possibly a slightly higher mark for Gross.
