Brezovan 7 - Solid except for that ridiculous throw

Calderon 6 - Quieter than usual going forward, skinned a few times second half

Virgo 8 - Best player for the time he was on

Elphick 8 - Very solid, him and Virgo didn't give Beckford a sniff.

Painter 7 - Good defensively

Bennett 6 - Not his best

Navarro 8 - Dominant, good passing, very comfortable as a holding mid in the midfield five

Crofts 7 - Solid

Dicker 8 - Don't remember him misplacing a pass all day.

LuaLua 7 - Very quick, skinned his man the few times he got one on one with him, not much end product but I think he has it in him. Should have shot one time in the second half instead of squaring it.

Murray 8 - Quality display up front of his own, held the ball up well. Classy touch, but wish he had a few more shots on goal.

Subs-
Hart 6. Worked very hard, closed down well and won the ball back a few times in key areas. Good substitution by Poyet.

El-Abd 5 - Not on long but shouldn't have lost the header for the goal.

Brezovan 7

Calderon 6

Virgo 6 (two points taken off for the stupid tackle)

Elphick 8

Painter 7

Bennett 6

Navarro 7

Crofts 7

Dicker 7

Murray 9

A very good performance in all. Am slightly concerned with Calderon's lack of positional awareness and his at times irrational charging around. Case in point being in the first half when he charged up to the Leeds area, and when the move broke down jogged very slowly back to defend.

his mistake cost us nothing. It was virgo who decided to lunge in, not brezovan. Virgo's mistake cost us the win.

I used to think people were overstating the hatred for any goalkeeper who wasn't kuipers, but I'm not so sure anymore...

I am far from Kuipers biggest fan and thought the treatment of Roberts (when he first joined anyway) and especially Henderson was disgraceful. I also thought Brezovan played well yesterday and justified his recall. However, Kuipers would definitely have fallen on that ball, wasted a bit of time and then cleared it. It was Brezovan's one mistake yesterday and Virgo was silly to dive in (although still not convinced that the Leeds reaction and the fact he had given us a penalty didn't contribute to the red card) but his mistake did cost us something.

Before saying anything let me just state for the record that I have been convinced for a long time that our big problem in defence is in goal. I think Kuipers is a busted flush. he is a great reflex keeper but does not command his area and does not instill confidence in the defence whenever a high ball comes in. For this reason I have preffered Brezovan although he makes some silly mistakes....

My view on saturday though is that Brezovan IS culpable for the red card. Virgo was straining to get to Brezovans awful throw. I watched it again and again in slow mo and it was a definite red..... Virgos foot almost took the knee away. Doesnt condone the Leeds response though.

So although Brez was solid all game that one mistake certainly caused a red card and three or so games witout Adam, although Adam shoudl know better too. It does not, however, justify El Abd being so easily beaten in the air by Kisnorbo and no one staying on Snodgrass, who is an obvious danger in the box.

Stiill... happy with the point and until Kuipers can begin to take crosses again instead of staying on the line or flapping we have no choice but to stick with Brez. Please please please get a better keeper though..
