But will we put the knockers on the winner staying next season as all of those listed have left the Club. I'm going for Elphick

Mockers, not knockers, surely?

Anyway, as long as we get good money for whoever we vote as player of the season, it's not a huge crime for them to move on, so long as both player and club benefit.

What's interesting is that most of those who have won and then left haven't exactly improved themselves in the long run - apart from Sir Bobster. Perhaps this year's winner should remember that!

I've voted Forster, by the way.

Elphick's had a good season, but we miss Forster far more when he's not there.

Forster for me, clearly a class above.

I voted Elphick. It was between him and El-Abd for me as the two players that have made the greatest personal improvements this season. They've both always put the effort in but have improved so much in terms of consistency and quality. We rely far more heavily on them than we could have predicted, and really missed El-Abd when he got injured. Also, Elphick has shown that he is a stick-on future captain with his passion and vocal contribution during games.

Forster has been superb clearly - but then there was a fair bit of expectation there. Far less so for these two internally developed players who have had far fewer years in the game. For me they have been the revelation of this season.

Incidentally, I was the chap who won the fans comp to present the trophy last season. It is my picture on the site left of Hammond. Particularly poor pic that makes me look like I'm blind. Good fun though.

Elphick - consistent all season.

Forster, though excellent, made a sluggish start - ineffective for the first few games. Elphick wasn't.

I do think though that our form turned around once Forster found his feet and started to score. Even when he had his second spell without scoring, he still played really well. The first few games he was average but he is the main reason that we have a chance for the play offs still rather than struggling like last year.

But it's for "Player of the Season", not "Most Improved" ???

My vote for Elphick wasn't cast because he was the 'most improved' player (arguably El-Abd anyway) but because he maintained a high level of quality all season long (i.e. consistently).

Forster has been all that we paid for, but started slow and later had a long spell without scoring. That's not to say he hasn't contributed when playing - he's worked his flippin socks off and been absolutely vital to our cause.

For me it's still Elphick though, I never expected a season like that from a player so young. All things considered (age, experience, consistency, etc) he got my vote.

He was also our supporters club (A21) player of the season which is derived from members votes on our away travel service.

I've gone for Elphick. Forster has made a big difference in lots of games but Elphick has been consistently good in almost every game he's played this season

If Elphick wasn't there, we'd have had El Abd and Lynch which, although worse, is not a huge problem and would have been good enough to win us most of the games we've won. Without Forster, we'd be in a relegation battle, as for large parts of this season he's single-handedly carried the attacking side of our team. In fact, he IS the attack. He clearly deserves to win, and I hope the fans don't go for the 'romantic' vote of Brighton-born youngster Tommy Elphick, and give it to our BEST player instead.

Having said all that, I've just voted for Michel. But I'll ensure my email accounts send equal numbers of votes for him and Forster.

You sound a very confused young man.

If the player of the year is bound to leave why not cut out the middle man and vote for Nathan Elder ?
Having said that it's down to three for me - Nicky Forster, Matt Richards and Andy Whing
Forster has scored the goals we hoped he would do
Richards is a huge miss when he's not there as has been proved recently and
Andy Whing just gives everything - 100% committed
Elphick's time will come though - no doubt about that if he keeps on having seasons like this last one
