'Player of hate' - who is yours?

Paul Brooker used to be mine - skilful and tricky - he could beat a player 4 or 5 times. He would then deliver a telling cross straight to the ballboy 10 yards behind the goal.

Don't get me wrong - I wouldn't berate him at full vocal volume during a game - that is just not constructive at all.

In Brooker's absence, I'm struggling to find a player to moan about this season. In one way, I hope Rougier signs - as he will fill the void nicely.

Kerry Mayo seems to be the player for most - not for me - being Brighton through and through - he is a hero in every sense.

So - who is your Albion 'player of hate' and why ?!?

As bozza will attest, mine used to by Kerry Mayo, but since his transformation from a frightened rabbit caught in the headlights of an onrushing juggernaut (i.e. he doesn't slice every clearance into touch anymore as soon as an opposition player looks at him). He also seems to have learnt how to mark players, which I think is a pre-requisute for a defensive footballer. So, it was Kerry, and I don't know who it is now. I don't think I have one, unless we get Rougier back, and I'll adopt that pile of lumbering fool as mine.

As an aside to this story, Bozza and I have a mutual female acquaintance (not in a physical way) who has been known to develop almost psychotic hatred for a particular player at a time. It was once Richie Barker, and then Darren Freeman. I don't know who she has hated lately, but I'm sure I'll find out who's the latest when we meet up next monday.

It was close between Guy Butters and David Lee. But what decided it was while David Lee is doing f*** all, he's not getting paid Guy Butters reported £4k a week for doing exactly the same, he could have at least come out with a statement after the "Sun incident" showing some commitment to train hard, lose weight and work for his money, but nothing. He's still a fat lump of lard, who's £4k a week could be spent on another centre forward or a new central defender. Either shape up or get out!
