It is not a problem so long as the ticket allocation is followed correctly as agreed by the club.
You're only saying that as you now agree with the way tickets are allocated! But I agree with you inasmuch as I can't see it being a problem. Even if we sell out our official allocation it'll be easy enough for enterprising fans who want to go to get tickets in with the Villa fans. That's what we did with Spurs, and for the Southampton game recently I didn't even bother trying to get tickets through the club.

Anyway, back on the subject. I think we'd already agreed a while back that it's impossible for a club like Brighton to HAVE plastic fans. Casual, occasional, bad, fairweather, part time fans - yes (I am one). But the mere fact we all support (in various degrees) a crap third division side as opposed to being mainly armchair followers of a Big Four premiership team means that none of us are 'plastic' in the accepted derogatory sense.

some "plastic" fans are going to have join the white membership scheme, which means adding £10 on to the price of the ticket.

That must put off a few people??

I feel like a plastic fan when I go to church. I only go to the big masses on Christmas Eve, and I pissed off some old doris as I sat in her regular spot, and didnt join in or know the words to all the hymns and prayers

Yeah but if we are to fill Heaven we need to attract people like you.

Indeed. It was one of the things that put me off getting Southampton tickets through the club as I'd have to pay effectively a £40 'booking fee' for something we might never use again - especially if I become a STH at Falmer.

i will be at villa park and ive not seen the albion for years. anyone who has a problem with that can do one.

What would be interesting to know is why you haven't been to an albion game for years and why you will be getting a ticket for the Villa game. Will you be in with the Villa fans? Do you know a STH who isn't going.

Seems strange that you seem proud of the fact you don't go to games but regularly post on here!

I've been to all 3 cup games so far & as is usual for my luck, I will miss the big day at Villa as I'm away with work.
Fair play to everyone who goes to most away games, however I hope we take as many as humanly possible to Villa. I don't have a problem with people turning up for the big games, let's hope they get the buzz back & go to more games. I'm sure the regulars will not have any problem getting looked after; we need to get the lost generation back & this sort of game is just the job.

I am very envious but hope it is a great day out for all. Come on Brighton!

Why? Sure there are lots of people on here who haven't been to watch Brighton in years but are regular posters. The way some of you carry on you'd think you'd never been to a game of football full stop!! My game count for the past two seasons you can count on 1 hand (and before you ask I will be going to Villa).

I think it was more likely he was pointing out that he has no interest watching third rate shite football week in week out but fancies a day out on the lash with the excuse of going to a decent ground to watch some of the best talent available currently in the country play against the team he if asked would say he follows.

Oh and I think his confidence about getting a ticket is because he's not a mong and is capable of picking up a telephone.

I haven't been to a Brighton game for about 5 years now, for various reasons, before that I had a seson ticket from Gillingham onwards, prior to that I went to most home games since leaving school in '87, went to maybe ten a season before that I suppose, I've done away days, not loads but quite a few.

Am I plastic now if I want to go to VIlla?

Quite and having seen the Albion at 100+ grounds over the last 25 years of following this club I think I have too. I can also vouch for Timbo for having done similar.

However I wouldn't give a flying f*** if someone ended up there who had never seen the Albion before, just means they've been organised enough to get a ticket when they go on general sale. Ticket rules and regs are there and have been in place for a while now. No one can moan about them.

I'm a plastic fan in denial - I live not far from Villa (about 30 miles) and I'm in the Away Member Scheme. So I'd love to go, but I have a prior arrangement on that weekend as its the bi-annual National Cricket Coaches Conference at Warwick Uni. I've done Withers 3 times in the last 5 years but probably do 10 aways each year - who will be at Walsall the week before, I will

So I give up my seat +3 to a plastic fan(s) who can attend.

Does this make me a good fan or a bad fan?

[looks around nervously for a friendly face]

Had to change as there were quite righly a load of complaints when the club got it so badly wrong before.

Glad AMS is disbanded

I say, bring on these potential "new fans".

Plastic? What's that got to do with it? If a whole bundle of guys show up who don't usually go, then some of them may just fall in love with the experience of live football. Isn't that what we need for when we get to Falmer, MORE fans!!

With all this talk of ticket allocations and the whole "me first" attitude towards securing a seat at the Villa FA Cup tie, the term 'plastic fans' has been banded around. It seems that people will brand you a plastic fan if you're not a season ticket holder or away member etc etc...

I travel from central london and go to roughly 10 home games, and about 4 or 5 away games every season, and have done so since about 1998. But in all this time i have never been an away member, blue member, season ticket holder etc. Does this make me a plastic fan?

My point is that although i do hate the kind of 'supporters' who will only go to the big games, never visit withdean, and sit at home all season rather than actually supporting the team they claim to be a fan of... And I do fully believe that STH's and blue/away members should be first in the queue for Villa tickets. We will need the type of supporters who can only make it to a handful of games each season when we are at Falmer. So this negativety towards non season tickets holders or away members isnt very productive...

:clap::clap::clap:

Good point well made. I was a STH for two years at Withdean and in a three year spell only missed a hand full of games home AND away. Couldn't afford to carry on like that so only get to a hand full home & away now, but don't consider myself a "plastic".

sorry to drag this up from page 2 but ive only just had a look. i havent been to a game for probably 2 years ish, but i could list you quite an impressive list of games/grounds ive been to with the albion if i really wanted to prove myself as a 'superfan'. and i dont get all this 'well you'd go to all the games if you were a real fan' malarky. i consider myself a real fan but if being a real fan constitutes spending over £400 a season to sit withdean then maybe im not!

as arthur says, i have very confidence in myself in managing to master the art of a telephone call without the help of nsc, thus securing myself a ticket.

and i dont recall saying i was 'proud' of not going to games. i 'nearly' went to torquay!

Was just trying to say that the negative attitude towards non-season ticket holders and non away members, that came about with all this talk of the Villa Fa Cup tie, isn't very productive if we want to grow as a club and increase our fan base.

Only on one occasion does having these so called "plastic fans" annoy me, when they get tickets to the big games e.g. spurs and west ham and I miss out, being a fan who lives in Northants and still manages to make it to roughly 15 home games and roughly the same away every season.
