Planning for the future

One thing that has been bugging me for some time is the impact that the Withdean and Gillingham years will have on the potential next generation of Seagulls fans.

Clearly, if (when) we get the go ahead for Falmer the next step will be to ensure that when the new gates finally open a healthy crowd is maintained. However, there will by then be a large number of youngsters who will have grown up without the Abion and may not be so inclined to pester a parent to take them to a game when they can watch Premiership football in the comfort of their own home.

I would therefore suggest a season ticket donation day each season until Falmer opens.

Essentially, what I am proposing is that for one game a season, season ticket holders donate their seat for the use of a youngster. The game could be designated at the start of each season and season ticket holders who are willing to participate could advise the Club. The club would then use it network within schools/community to distribute the tickets.

We need to get the kids involved otherwise BHAFC will become a result on a piece of paper.

I appreciate that this is not fully thought through but may be worth developing?

Not sure single tickets scattered around the ground are where to put school-age kids at their first ever match - but I agree with your sentiments.

I wouldn't worry too much. We are lucky in that there are no rival clubs a sensible distance away that kids have been taken to during our wilderness years.

Kids are notoriously fickle - one minute they would die without Steps and S Club, the next minute only Busted will do.

Playground football affiliations will be easily broken once they get the chance to actually go to Falmer and see their team play in a proper stadium with a decent atmosphere.

Hope you are right - as I said, it wasn't thought through - I just hate seeing non BHAFC shirts on the streets of Sussex

Why don't we let kids sit in the away end seats that the other club does'nt sell - 1. It will get 300+ kids to a lot of games and 2. It will piss off the away fans no end with all that high pitched chanting!
