And this just highlights the problem with VAR. It is supposedly using technology to improve decisions but it is still down to human interpretation and that is where the problem is in the first place!

I think the clear and obvious bit is the problem.

The VAR team seem to read that to the absolute letter, and if there’s the slightest chance that the ref may have been correct, they err of the side of bottling contradicting the ref.

In Rugby Union and Cricket ego’s don’t come into it. The video official simply bases it on the facts in front of him.

Typical of football to come up with a fudge, to protect the honour and supremacy of the match day ref.

Chaos at Turf Moor. Bournemouth think they've equalised, VAR check for a penalty at the other end. Goal disallowed, penalty awarded. Eddie looking a little less smug.

VAR is destroying football - Bournemouth score a perfectly good goal and instead of being 1-1 they find themselves 2-0 down. If you are going to give a penalty for handball, then give the f*cking penalty - don't wait until the other team goes down the pitch and scores a perfectly good goal. This is utter nonsense and makes the game pointless.

Sounds like peak VAR, surely the only way is down from this?!

How was Man City's a penalty and ours wasn't?
