7th. place? Conference League? Fine by me!

I understand that for financial reasons the club would like the CL, but for me the Conference would be a great (potentially winnable) adventure - and a good platform to build on for yet higher European adventures in the future. And those hardy and highly commendable souls who follow the Albion wherever would still have a few exciting trips to new and exciting places!

My gut feeling was that Chelsea will cruise into the top 4 based on easy fixtures. Man City based on yesterday are unlikely to finish the season strongly and will fade and that 7th is our most likely finish.

My predictor had us finishing 5th pipping Villa on goal difference with Chelsea 7th and City 8th, which seems highly unlikely. There are bound to be one or two outlier scores, which just makes it all the more interesting.

Do you remember December?
To be honest, I'd like to think the team will be totally focused and not underestimating any team. It's much easier to drop your levels earlier in the season. This is the business end, where literally every point counts and if they keep these performances up, they will be able to taste Europe. We very much have something to play for, unlike most of our opponents...

Absolutely - the Conference League offers some potentially fascinating trips to various outposts of European football. Plus (trying not to get too far ahead of myself, but failing miserably), I checked on the locations of the European finals next season, and the Conference final is in Leipzig, which sounds like a fun away day!

Yep, those two 2 goal leads blown prevent us
I really hope that Wolves at home & Leicester away don’t come back to haunt us but got a nagging feeling they will. Apparently things balance out over a season not sure about these two. I remember being in the away end at Leicester 2-0 up with the ‘We’re going to Europe’ chants thinking this all a bit premature, how ironic it could all be,GOSBTS..

I think that we are the 4th best team in the Premier League.

It’s just about proving it now.

If we beat Villa and Newcastle at home and Citeh get a 60 point penalty, I think we’ll definitely get Europe in some form or other.

I couldn’t get the website to deduct Citeh the 60 points so gave up on mapping this out!

7th with Newcastle taking 6th would be a Europa League qualification, regardless of who wins the League Cup final later today.
It's so complicated! I'm not too sure about that - but I'm far from sure that you're wrong either, so I'll just wait and see! 7th. place and the Conference would rate as a good outcome for me - the only downside would be that if that happened, we wouldn't have won the FA Cup. And worse still, if either of those scenarios happened and we finished 7th. but got into the Europa League, that could possibly hand a first ever European place to ......... Palarse!

Interesting to note that some seasons those 4 points dropped v Leicester and Wolves wouldn't make much of a difference, but this year they're likely to be the difference between European football and growth, and nothing and our best players looking for a move to pastures new earlier than they'd probably like. Crazy old game football.

These things are always misleading.
Difficult to not end up just applying pre-existing biases into every match up and to assume current form is permanent.

If it were easy to predict Premier league games - we would all be coining it in on 10 fold accas every weekend.

Here's mine, for what it is worth

I have us picking up 17 points from our last 9, without losing another game.
Wins against West Ham, Wolves, Leicester and Newcastle, Draws against Liverpool, Villa, Brentford, Palace and Spurs.

Reasonable chance that 7th gets us Europa League, iF City, Forest or us win the FA Cup (by my table).

Lots of confidence about Chelsea’s chances on this thread.

I have two points of opposition to their perceived strength.

1. In two games at the Amex, they were shit and offered little.

2. In April, they have to face 6 matches in 14 days. The bread in that particular sandwich is made up of derby/rivalry matches away.

Yeah it's very difficult to predict every game, without reverting to club bias and ignoring all essential other factors.

I guess that's one of the many differences between Tony Bloom and us.

I prefer thefishy predictor.
I've left it alone to predict all results and has us 9th with Palace 7th!!!
Putting our results as winning all home, drawing all away, in other words no more defeats, we're 5th but 6 pts clear of 7th.
