Newport being poorer and lower league have an excuse but that pitch today was awful and they watered it at half time. With all their millions there is no excuse. Fulham arent super rich but their pitch looks fine.
About time the Premier League reviewed their standards I think.

Proper football back then , you were allowed to tackle , players not going down like a sack of potatoes every time someone touches them , used to love playing on muddy pitches , great stuff

You'd think with all the money invested in players at this level of football a basic standard of pitch, helping to avoid injuries, would be a requirement. Surprised there's not pitch inspections/ penalties as in cricket. Elland Road today was dreadful.

Slightly different as lower down, but I really don’t understand why clubs in league 2 can’t have the 4G pitches to save/make money.

It’s been awful for a month or so. The Criteria as laid down in EPL manual is quite specific about the levels expected and minimum standards such as under soil heating etc. The fines for failing to produce a playable pitch are high due to the TV contract. There’s no excuse. The manual even states the minimum and maximum length of the grass. The pitch today was not just a glue pot the grass looked the length of a park pitch.

And they watered it at halftime wow

The only conclusion you can come to is that they wanted to disrupt the better passing of the visiting team. Very 1980's Wimbledon.

They were supposed to re lay it in the off season, however, due to the restart being closer than normal, they didn't have the time to do it.
